Questions- on the fence of buying tera

Sharard123Sharard123 Member Posts: 10

I am not very good at FPS, never have.  If had a FPS type game played, it was on the noobie setting usually.  Been waiting on GW2 but also willing to try other stuff too.

So can one enjoy Tera if suck at FPS games and really suck at PVP. The looks of the game looks cool. but dont want to waste 50 bucks for a game i cant play. So can you enjoy this game without the pvp or do you need pvp to get stuff in the game. Can you least solo a bit, realize better stuff and content is group oriented and make sense. Can a person who doesnt have the quickest reflexes even last in this game? My hands are not the best ( arthitis) and like said earlier, just plain not all that good at FPS.

So should I look elsewhere? Thanks for any help.

I definitely would not recommend it if you're not good at FPS/TPS games, I find that pvp in TERA is very fast paced and requires a high level of precision.  One miss will end up causing you to lose a battle and this applies to PVE as well.

The aim combat is very forgiving. It isn't exactly fps console quality. It is well enough to HAVE an aim action combat system, without needing the cat-like reflexes. But the speed of combat can be very misleading. At first combat seems slow, until you get into some frantic PVP or start killing some BAMs.

I wouldnt even consider Tera a FPS game. Tera is solo friendly on just about every single class at least for awhile but gets to be more of a challenge once you get past the lumbertown zones. Its pretty easy to pick up if you can use hotkeys effectively and if you really want a forgiving class to level as say melee just go with a block class like zerker or lancer as its much easier to manually block attacks vs evade and have to retarget the mob fast.

On a side not Tera is much more enjoyable on a Razor Naga mouse as is GW2 or any mmorpg thats more action based combat . It might be something worth picking up if you plan to be playing the action based games in the future and you can find them online for about 60 bucks on amazon usually. I'm not a FPS person either and I found Tera incredible easy to control once I got the Naga and even before then the I just bound the hotkeys to something that I could easily train myself to navigate as Im not very good at using the F1-6 keys myself. Also gear is easy as heck to obtain in Tera and you can enchant your gear anyways with junk items of the same tier for awesome bonuses

I was afraid too about this new combat system. I tried the beta and found the game was easier to master than I though.

Loving the fact that monsters make agressive movements before strike, so you can be ready to avoid them.

I play only in a pve server and think you wont regret if you play the game. I have the same problem in my hands and its really not big deal. You must think that this game is in fact more "hand friendly" than other mmos cos you only need to (for example)to keep pressed the mouse buttons and as a ranged you will fire all the time. And many skills are followed by spacebar option.

To tell you the truth this may differ in pvp, where the most skilled players can have an advantage over slower players (thats my guess)

But I repeat, you shouldn´t have any problems in pve.

No in pvp against a skilled player, more forgiving in PvE early on but once you get to later BAM and dungeons its not. On lvl 60 dragon  BAM, one miss leash to try to drag the dragon from the sky got me killed twice instantly from its fire breath. I was full hp full stamia 1 fire breath and i was dead in less than 3s. Happens a lot with lot of later bosses too, 1 mistake and 1 hit ko.

I'm terrible at FPS and I do fine.  Maybe just stick to the melee classes if you want to PvP since the pace there is a bit quicker and precision is more necessary.  The targeting reticle is pretty forgiving even for ranged classes.
