Lineage 3 does not exist (well....Tera is actually stolen code from the Lineage 3 project)

Lineage 2 has recently gone Free 2 Play, and does have an item shop.  As F2P & Item Shops go....it's not that bad (in terms of pay to win).  Most of the items you purchase are for looks, and for buffs that will temporarily make your weapon / armor / and fighting ability stronger.

There are several dungeons & raid bosses available for group play.  The game is still very group dependent in the higher levels (80-99).  Depending on which class you decide to play, you can solo most of the content until your 70s.  Level cap is 99.  In order to participate in some of the events, like the Olympiad, you'll need to also level your sub classes.  Once you reach lvl 70 or 75, you can pick another class for your character to play and it will start you back at lvl 40 (for that class).  You can switch between your main class & sub classes anytime you wish.

It's an oldie but goodie....especially if you play with other people.  The game is one of the few MMORPGs that have a factionless FFA open PvP system.  There is also a very cool PvP system that allows clans to siege castles & fortresses and fight for control against other competing clans.

    Hope this was helpful....and GL.

It's true that NCSoft claimed some of their old employees sold L3's source code to Bluehole studio but at the end of the day they were found not guilty.  It's nonsense, TERA and L3 (Diablo-like) are totally diferent games- TERA is a very polished game it doesn't look like they needed to copy and paste other games source code

My understanding was that several developers that were working on the Lineage 3 project left NCSoft and joined Blue Hole.  With the developers also came the knowledge & IP of the L3 project....which heavily "influenced" Tera.

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-04-17-tera-developers-guilty-of-stealing-lineage-iii-assets

The link above states that Blue Hole was originally found guilty in 2009, and an appeal was upheld by a Korean Supreme Court in April of this year.  Several of the people involved have been sentensed to jail, etc.

The Diablo-like Lineage game you're refering to is called Lineage Eternal (not Lineage 3).  It's likely that NCSoft scrambled to come up with another Lineage IP project after the L3 developers jumped ship (with the Lineage IP).

If you want to solo, your best choice is an Orc WarCryer.

Given the way the graduated class system works, you should follow the following path...

Pick an Orc Mystic to start.

Once you hit level 20, you change to an Orc Shaman.

Once you hit level 40, you should choose to be a WarCryer

The class is meant to be a party buffer (when you cast a buff on you, your entire party gets them), but because Orcs have been given an ability to leech mana by using any physical or casting skill....you essentially have an unlimited amount of mana.  In addition, your primary damage spell also returns 80% of the damage back as HP.  Orcs also have a lot of Health Points and get to wear light & heavy armor.  They are VERY tough casters....allowing you to solo in places (including many dungeons) that most other classes cannot.

The downside of this class is that they are a dime a dozen, and since only one is needed per party.....you may have some trouble grouping.  The play style can also get kind of boring...given your spamming the same 1-2 damage skills throughout your entire leveling process.  Even still...very bad ass class to play in L2.

    You mean "Rappelz" ?

That is nothing to do with L2......

Why did you ask about "lineage 2 or 3" but link to Rappelz? The two games are very much different. I sincerely hope that was a genuine mistake and not an attempt of GPotato employees to ressurect a game that should have died ages ago.
