Please not another "login screen is great" topic
We already had this sillysness in GW2 forums...
And Guild Wars 2 is a really good game.
So heres hoping The Secret World follows suit!
Not really silly.
I'm drooling over the desktop icon...its truly epic
Whats wrong with someone posting a positive thread?
I like it to be honest. I just bought the game and havent followed it at all (except for the past 2-3 days) so I'm looking forward to this weekend.

i think we cant avoid it....
Hello ?
This is mmorpg.com ! We flame , we do not say positive things, espacially not about mmos .
The only reason to look forward to the beta weekend is that we can play 5-10 minutes and then post endless flamethreds here.
Well, there will always be fanboys that love to trash other games because it isn't theirs. Regardless I love seeing positive threads like this and am glad you're excited for a new MMO.

The Guild Wars 2 login screen wins for me, and here's why. When I tried to log in before the beta started it said "Your account is all setup, but there is currently no beta even running." TSW just tells me I have an invalid login
Here's hoping the secret world is as awesome as GW2 was.
(Also GW2 was just cooler over all password color code? awesome)
I am certain that you all tried to mess up with the settings by now... Have you noticed how it looks very AoCish? (I know its the same engine, but c´mon... its too much AoC). I mean, I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing... And I had trouble to run it on DX11 mode, it says it lacks a file also...
I must confess that I didnt get good vibes from the looks of the setting (too much AoC) however I loved the sound and the climate of the login screen
I agree im a Guildwars 2 fan myself but im not a blind one i try all games and i see wich ones are the best :P i already bought Guildwars 2 played the beta weekend and Diablo III now TSW :P
I'm the same way
Prepurchased/ordered TSW, GW2, and D3. I like to try everything. I've been following TSW for a long time, and GW2 was something I wasn't intersted in until quite recently. It was an excellent surprise. I also used my beer money on TERA this weekend, and it's quite fun as well. I feel like the quality of releases has been increasing steadily of late, starting with RIFT.
they both really do have nice login screens and music though
a weird thing i noticed with TSW, when you go into the keyboard shortcuts, it looks like parties are for 6 not 5 as thought.
hmm i think swtor was a dip, I mean RIFT and SWTOR essentially do the same thing, but RIFT just does it better.
the DX11 client isnt in the open beta, you get an error and it launches the dx9 client.
they use the same engine sort of. AOC was on hero engine 2, TSW is hero engine 3, they back ported some features of TSW like better AMD support, ability to handle bigger crowds and server side physics into AOC so AOC is now hero2.5
The way I see it is I'm paying a single monthly fee for TSW, getting B2P on GW2 and playing Path of Exile for free... Three games will hopefully keep me entertained with just the one monthly sub.

I will probably play GW2 for longer, AS theres the incentive to alternate between leveling each class and doing WvW
Im affraid the PVP may be lacking in tSW to keep me long term, though the world / imersion while "leveling" is great.
I wish GW2 had TSW crafting would have a truly epic mmo then.
You're right so far except one thing. It's not the hero engine, that's the one used in SW:ToR. The Engine they use for TSW is called Dreamworld. Their own inhouse product.
I hope that was sarcasm..
The desktop icon was obviously made in powerpoint as a placeholder. Having said that, the music is great and atmospheric, and I'm really enjoying listening to it.
Really? I showed the GW2 login to somebody who has never played, and is not paying attention to, GW or GW2...
She basically went and ...I think they just got a new player for GW2 based on that alone.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
