Guiness World Record attempt

ElminsterElminster Member UncommonPosts: 28

[7:10:20 AM] Carl Cox: I have a friend named Sean "Hzrd" Kearney that lives in Australia, and on May 15th, he is attempting a Guiness World Record. He is going to attempt to break the record for most consecutive hours playing a video game, which currently stands at 109 straight hours. He is shooting for 120 hours, and has several sponsors presently, and any donations he gets during his attempt are going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation which helps with anti bullying. In August of 2007, Sophie and a friend were brutally beaten by a group of people, and Sophie died of her injuries. For more info on the attempt, and the foundation, go to www.diabloworldrecord.com for event info, and www.sophielancasterfoundation.com for info on what the foundation does. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sounds like it's for a good cause and I hope your friend knows what he's doing and is in good shape! For the record you need to game for 4 hours then get a 30 min break and continue that cycle right?

He will be gaming for 4 hours at a time, take 20 minute bio breaks, and the whole event will be streamed live. The 2 sites I posted have all the info on sponsors and the foundation, and there are going to be prizes awarded to people that are watching the stream live.

He's probably not even going to be the person with the most hours played next week :P

Good luck to him with the fundraising.

he is going for the world record.....the current record stands at 109 CONSECUTIVE hours played, meaning nonstop play with no sleep. He is shooting for 120 hours and has a good team in place for the attempt. if you are interested and have questions for him he is presently streaming WOW BG's at twitch tv...name there is HzrdIRL

I hope he doesn't die. There are many recorded instances of this type of thing resulting in people dying. Hopefully there will be many someones on hand to monitor things and pull the plug if necessary.

Sleep deprivation can also be fatal by the way. Something to keep in mind.

one of the things that are in place is that he has a good team behind him supporting him....being aware of the issues involved in an attempt like this is something he is taking very seriously as well, so come and see him at twitch, as he will be streaming the attempt live, and his sponsors are going to be giving away prizes.

Excellent, good to hear that. I just might have to check it out.

Of course... it won't be for the full 120 hours, unless there's a world record to be had for time spent watching a world record be broken...
