One of the reasons I was tepid about buying Tera is I don't want to raid. I don't want to schedule my real life around a game.
Is it true that Tera does not have raid dungeons?
The end-game is PvP, hard mode 5 mans and Rifts?
Comments
Yes their FAQ is telling you the truth, there are no raids.
The dungeon finder tool is very handy and they dont seem to take that long at the moment. Cant talk for higher level ones.
But im not a hard core player and im level 26.
Ya, the FAQ doesn't specifically say the word raid. My bad for not reading more into it.
What does end-game look like in TERA?
There is some great endgame content with our political system and big ass monster battles, but the game definitely doesn't start there. TERA's action combat pulls you in quickly and makes each battle dynamic. We have a world class writing team who has crafted a story that will pull you in right away. These things, plus incredible visuals, over 600 monsters, thousands of quests, guilds, PvP gameplay, and politics will pull you in from the very beginning and keep you playing.
Do you know if when they say over 600 monsters if they're talking about models or just names where some monsters share the same model?
Very cool. I've seen videos but how would you describe the dungeons?
Dungeons are pretty basic until you get to a higher level, but Bladur Temple, Capricorn and Kelsaik should all be very enjoyable, the mechanics also change depending on whether it is hardmode or normal.
Baldur Temple definitely is the most interesting, amazing mechanics and memorable bosses as well as a maze and an in dungeon dps meter for the last boss lol. It's a level 60 instance and the hardmode is very difficult.
There are Nexus' which are akin to raids from what details they've told us.
Seems a lot like RIFTS but more of a massive scale thing, with a lot of giant monsters.
It was stated by blue hole a long time ago that they are working on raids, but not really any info on it.
Nexus is not really like raids, they are just Rifts that appear in the high level zones at certain times and spew out a mass of monsters and there's a much greater mass of players waiting to kill those monsters.
It's not organized like raids, just a clusterfuck of players everywhere lol.
I think that's where my confusion comes from. Some people I use to play WoW with bought Tera. They gave me the impression that raids were going to be in Tera before it went live. They probably meant eventually and I just misunderstood. So raids might eventually come in later on, but the focus isn't on raids right now, which I think is great.
Ya the later lvl 60 dungeon are all very nice mechanics, did fane yesterday and man the mechanics are fun but i really don't want to do it with pugs lol.
There is no info about it because it's not true.
Blue Hole Studios is not working on raids.
The misunderstanding generated from the rift announcement where they talked about a "raid party".
Do not worry. Tera doesn't have raids and won't have them in the near future.
Personally i don't like raids, it runs your life pretty much. The requirement to get everyone on to do it feel more like a job more than anything. 5 man dungeons are much easier to get peopel to do, I really had a blast with Fane and Balder so i hope they release more dungeons with mechanics as good as those. Like the later dungeons makes the ealier dungeon look like a joke with how brutal they are lol.
This i agree. I'm on Tera for the 5 man dungeons anyway.
Raids is not what i'm searching for on a mmorpg. I'ts more like an organization and logistical challenge than a combat challenge.
And after a while it resembles a second job.
Take your time levelling up currently the western endgame is borked, lagfest dungeons, no capped crafting, no nexus's.
Its an ace game just poorly implemented by enmasse and frogster.
Lagfest dungeons wtf are you talking about, i haven't lagged in dungeons or in 30+ vs 30+ GvG and i'm running a laptop. Maybe you need a better computer. Craft need fixing, i hope they address it. And Nexus isn't out for a reason, it require massive amoutn of lvl 60 to complete. Right now maybe 10% of the population is at 60 and majorty at 40-50. Whats the point of putting in Nexus if all its going to do is cause player to try and wipe because they don't have enough people?
I feel like raiding from what i seem from WoW is a big game of simon says. Follow whatever the leader tell you to do and you will be fien. Yet people can't follow simple direction is beyond me. But i experience it in Tera too with pugs... omg pugs.....
According to people I know at 60 and I speak to daily who are not in my guild. The level 60 dungeons are laggy, the low level ones are not.
I personally never had any lag issue in 60 dungeon, only one time the last boss in fane gltiched on us at 3.5% and all we could do was watch it instane wipe the party.
I am gonna say it, I wouldnt want raids in this game, I have played many Raid focused games for many years, and I can say that Raids just wouldnt work, too many people just dilutes the combat down to just sitting in front of the mob spamming a couple of skills. I even now try and run the instances with my girlfriend, just to make it challenging and see how far we can push it.
As a side note I think putting public raids outside is a smart idea always. Better for the developers and the majority of players.
Just not worth my time anymore.
open world dungeons are mainly for questing and lvling up, not for farming loot like instance. However people do compete for world bosses because they drop really nice green crystals and it has and will cause many GvG over them.
