TERA's localization is extremely well done.

The quest text and NPC speech isn't just localized but contextually redone to an impressive degree. Aion had made great strides in Westernization on this front, but TERA completely nailed it. The game is full of cultural references from pop culture to literature, making reading the text titles alone an entertaining activities in itself.

From what I heard, the Aion culturalization team was hired to do the same for TERA, and they really took the ball and ran with it. Then again, this isn't their first rodeo.   ;)

    Good observation though.

Yeah I also noticed a lot of the quest names are references to pop culture, tv shows, books ect.

It's what I've been saying all along. What more are people exactly expecting out quest texts?

Nevermind, I forgot about the bandwagon mentality.

True and I was surprised that even the german localization was well done. Usually I only play those games in english due to bad localization... but in Tera you can really play in german too - even the voices are synchronized...

    Currently playing: Archeage
    Waiting for: Black Desert

Well at least they got that done right in the quests, even if most people just plain ignore it :X

Anyone else notice EVERY single quest name is a really bad pun? Its like they hired a guy in the westerization department to make bad puns and reference to other things with the quest names lol.

That's the topic we are discussing. :)

In German, is it formal or a more relaxed/slang translation? I'm curious if they went to this length in other languages, as well.

Yeah, because that doesn't happen in every other MMO with quest text....
