    i love how the article refers to female gamers as ladies and male gamers as nerdy men. surely if gaming turns a male into a nerd then it would have the same effect on a woman, oh sorry a lady.

    This is very embarrassing for me to say...

     

    I once pretended to be a girl in SWG. You have NO IDEA how differently I was treated. I was showered with gifts, praise, and friend invites. All I had to do was have a female toon and end all my sentences with smileys :)

    Anyways, I was trying to master my 24th profession during the holocron grind. It was dancer. So I made it to the cantina to start my leveling. During my "experience", a guy had sent me a message. "I'll pay you credits and teach you a money-making exploit if you dance for me in my hut."

    I did...

    I followed him to his hut. He planted some tiki torches, sat down on some Naboo couch, told me to stand above him, and to flourish the exoitic dance. He even asked for certain flourishes, e.g., do flourish #1 and then #5 etc.

    I can't believe I did it. I really don't want to know what he was doing IRL.

    He kept his word, though. He told me how to make endless credits by accepting Mock Soothsayer missions. He told me that if I stood within their base, I couldn't be harmed and could destroy the objective from inside. It worked. I made millions in a single day with no effort at all.

    Yea it's sad how easily guys can be manipulated sometimes.

    I dont understand, why are the women not nerdy and the guys automaticly labeled as such. Im offended. Seriously though, in other games beside LoL, seems like women are treated as queens.

    Problem here for one is the DOTALOL community.  It is mostly made up of the younger generation though I could be wrong.  I played LoL for like an hour when it came out, decided that it and all DOTA type games suck, and never went back.  People were pretty antogonistic towards me, though I'm sure I wasn't playing well.  They all sounded young though and I am guessing they probably haven't matured enough to have a relationship with a woman.  Then, when an actual woman enters "their" domain (being the game they spend all their time playing) they belittle them in order to feel a little more powerful when they are terrified of women in real life.  I've seen it happen in other games.  The more mature gamers who have had relationships with women don't seem to act like that as much.
