Don't developers realize that sub fees are obsolete?
I predict Tera going F2P with p2w cash shop in 1 year. Or something close to Rift's Lite. Or warhammers thing.
P2P MMO's are still, by far, much higher quality than F2P. No matter what, a game with subs that gives everyone the ability to get the items without a cash shop is still far superior than having to buy stuff in a cash shop. Period.
I prefer enjoying playing a game and knowing I have already spent my $15 on it than having to worry about what limits are gonna be in place as I level that will force me to do the same thing anyway, if not more.
I used to think that it would be fine to play GW2 and have a P2P MMO on the side.
Then I started playing Aion again and realized that I don't need to pay a sub at all to have a second game to play.
I would enjoy having Tera as my second game, but with the other options that are F2P, I don't think I'll be playing unless it goes F2P. I still wish it all sorts of success, and if it never goes F2P because it's playerbase supports it, then thats great too.
Sub fees ensure an even playing field for everyone playing the game. If you want something, you have to get it from the game, not from an item shop. Why are people so goddamn cheap? Get a job! The sub fee is an Entree at Applebee's.
F2P is a plague. I can't wait for the vaccine.

It has the same pitfalls as games like Aion, FFXIV and others. Chances are good that interest will dwindle and in a years time it will move towards the f2p route. kTera already has a cash shop in place, they already have a means of gold selling and buying in place, all that remains is for it to actually be implemented here.
I wouldn't worry to much about it, just be patient.

I have noticed that people that are not willing to pay for a game when they are aware of it, usually will lack the interest to play it for free when released. Those that for one reason or another are UNABLE to pay for the game, because they are already invested in a game and their budget doesn't allow a second or third game, these are the ones that quickly pickup the game when it becomes F2P.
Your replies does not put you in the "I have no money so I will not pick up this game" category, so I am going to asume you really don't care much for the game, and just wish it ill.
Please correct me if I am wrong. Just remember that actions speak louder than words ^_^

Up with the subs, down with the scrubs.
I say we raise the bar for entry personally just to keep more of the riff-raff away, say $30 a month...
Average P2P player?
