So what are your thoughts? Analysts predicted 5 mil units sold a while back.

Well the number would have to be higher than 3.8million as that is number of WoW:Cata expansions sold in the first 24 hours (which I assume is as good as a pre-order)

I didn't like the game at all from the OB weekend and i really liked the 1st two incarnations, i would say i'm surprised by the amazon count but i really shouldn't be as people are persuaded by the success and tbh undeserved hype of the old games.

D3 reminds me of the Dungeon Seige 3 fiasco with the exception that they're lucky enough to have a massive global following who will buy whatever they make.

I am not surprised in the slightest.  Blizzard, whether you like it or not, has earned a reputation that has made people like their games.  Diablo 1 and 2 were both extremely successful and the general PC gaming population has been waiting for the third installment for a long time.  It's really a no brainer in most peoples eyes.

I am not surprised at all. The UK Amazon ran out of Diablo 3 copies and now you can't preorder the game from them lol.

I have three friends who preordered the game and they haven't played video games for the past 5 years. I think one of them played only Diablo 2 and no other video game.

There are advertisements everywhere! I think even non-gamers know that Diablo 3 is coming out on the 15th lol.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

What didn't you like about it?

Diablo has always been about risk vs reward, nothing has changed in that regard.

Diablo has always been about randomization of dungeons and rewards, nothing has changed in that regard.

Diablo has always been co-op focused, nothing has changed in that regard.

Diablo 3 has a more complex system for skill customization than the old tree system.

The world is just as dark and rugged as it ever was.

Trying to imply that anyone who bought the game was "persuaded by the success and undeserved hype" of the old games is quite insulting on many different levels. Blanket generalization ftl.

4 Million people don't buy a game because it sucks, or because of some hype. A few hundred thousand maybe, and that's being generous. The fact that so many people have prepurchased and are looking forward to the game means that your opinion, and those similar to it, are the minority.

Finally, trying to compare D3 to Dungeon Siege 3 in any way, shape or form, is absolutely outrageous. That sounds like a spiteful statement made by someone who has a grudge against the series, the company, or both.
