Just wonder if I did miss something, since this game is listed on this webpage in the mmmorpg games forum. I did read it would support only 4 players in multiplayer, did this change ?

No it obviously is not, but there is a clear cross over audience.

good question indeed... today's mmorpg.com no longer used to be the one we knew past 5 years ago.
they are blinded by greed so plenty of paid advertisement be it the game are truly a mmo or not.

No, it is a MMO of sorts, and they've stretched the definition recently to include titles that are likely to generate hits including all the recent MOBA's.
Probably should more rightly be called MMO.com instead these days.
But in their defense the definition of what is a MMORPG has become so broad and indistinct these days as these titles have 'evolved' over the years the term is almost meaningless.
I expect one day we'll see online sports or poker games on the site eventually.

You are several months late with this thread...
For having so many posts, I'm actually quite shocked that the uproar over including it on this site slipped past you...
It's on here because after being put to a vote most people sided for having it included. It's not an MMORPG but if people want to discuss it and get info on the game then why not have really. Doesn't harm anyone as you may have been lead to believe when it was first listed from all the hater threads!
@OP, really. You have 1.7k posts and you're posting this thread? RealLLY??? We have talked about this a gazillion times! There are 50 threads on this.
But no Diablo 3 is not an MMORPG. Don't listen to those who tell you otherwise. Some people look at MMORPGs this way:
Massive - many people
Multiplayer - self-explanatory
Online -self-explanatory
RPG - self-explanatory
This is completely wrong because by this definition every online RPG is a MMORPG. Also the first M in MMO stands for Massively not massive which is another thing which a lot of people have trouble accommodating in their very "advanced" brain.

Yes, they are online RPGs. GW1 is an online RPG. Diablo is an Online RPG. Anything that doesn't have a persistant world is not an MMORPG. You need to have the ability to have a lot of players in one place. IF you use those other "definitions" of MMOs, suddenly every multiplayer RPG turns into a MMORPG. E.g. is Dungeon Defenders a MMORPG?

This site, in the last couple of years, has been notorious for adding ANY game that has multi player innit. Look at the front page. I don't think you can say D3 isn't one after seeing some that are listed here.
But on a strictly "what I remember MMO to mean"? Not one...but so aren't MANY others on here.

No it's not an mmorpg, though ppl would like to think of it as it is. Its a singleplayer game with multiplayer included.
Just because it got an auctionhouse doesn't make it an mmorpg. Still a great game though!
nope it's an co-op action rpg still with mmo elements such as AH etc..
they gave it a spot here because there was alot of chatter about it near as i can figure, popular with the mmo community, and it's fun

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of role-playing video games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world.

taken from wiki, fits D3, don't see any problem with it being here.

4 is a very large number?

I would agree...but why?

No, Diablo III is not an MMORPG. Granted, sometimes I feel WoW/clones aren't, either.
