GW2 is feature rich thats what makes it diff

ZebulosZebulos Member Posts: 9

I've seen alot of threads that say GW2 is a copy of XXXX game because it has XXXX features

I don't really care if GW2 has features that were in other games all that matters to me is that it has alot of features that I wanted in a single game.

Features I like about GW2:

Mail access anywhere in the world

Detailed crafting

Coop play in pvp and pve

Seperate pve and pvp areas both active 100% of the time come and go as you please.

Detailed clan management controls

Clan perks

DE hubs insteadof Mission hubs( I just don't like missions)

Central Market(AH) common to ALL game servers.

Now I could name many games that have this or that feature but I can not think of any game that has combined so many feature all at once the GW2 has.

You could of posted this in the "revolution" thread, but yea pretty much ANET took the complaints people had about MMOs and did away with them, and put many "distinct" features from other MMOs and put them together. Now honestly that being true they actually are shifting GW 1 mechanics and making them functional in an open world, example is the PVE in GW1 if it where to be done again but in an open world you'd literally be doing DE's.

We do know their PVP came from DAOC and Warhammer but that's not a bad thing.

They pretty much made a peanut butter jelly sandwhich instead of making just a peanut butter sandwhich or just an jelly sandwhich.

So of course unfortunate for many naysayers it is in fact different from other MMOs, what's to be seen is if ANET's attempt is sucessful or not, so far it looks that way but many things seem that way in life and change later, if ANET is consistent and on point with their motives then GW 2 could possibly be the second coming of Jesus christ and cure my grandmother's cancer.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

I'll be honest.  I don't think it is the features alone that make it as different as it is.  Sure, all of those things are things that set GW2 apart from the crowd, but I believe that it is HOW these things are implemented, in both PvE and PvP, that changes things the most.  I especially like how players just kind of get drawn to play together.  It isn't something that happens just because the players are expecially nice, it is because the game works in such a way that players just end up being nice to reach other (just like the rules and gameplay of [insert game with terrible community here] other games can tend to turn people into vicious jerks).

Hmm....I wonder how that will end up effecting the community after release? image

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

    Agree

Most of other recent MMOs tries to copy wow and add one or two major features that are the selling point of the game (rift rifts, TOR's story, TERA's combat) . But they fail to realize that (in 2012) it's just not enough

GW2 has so many fresh ideas, it's feels almost like dream (especially in comparsion to others)

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

And then you add all the good stuff here to an amazing fantasy IP and you have yourself a game worth playing. People sleep on that but the lore is the glue that holds it all together. When you have random fantasy IP's with no real history they just become "another one" in my book. They got lucky by having a strong backbone like gw1 much like wow had all the warcrafts before it.

I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.

The one feature that really convinced me to Pre-Purchase was guild management and perks. I've always started my own guilds in the past and managing a guild can be a royal pain in the ASS. The more features Arenanet can pack in for guild management the better I say. Having always been a guild leader my only concern in any game has always been to help my people in any way possible. I become so engrossed in this effort that I do not always pay attention to other players if they don't display the guild tag. I get the feeling that Arenanet understands that the guild is for many people the central reason for playing and being social with others in a game and have made it so that the guild has ways of making its members feel welcome and apreciated.

This for me was my primary reason to Pre-Purchase. Clans IN GW2 are social hubs.

    That right there is gold.

I do think that they might have improved upon the recipe for peanut butter as well as that for jelly. Ive seen (or read reviews of) some of these features elsewhere and think that Anet's spin on some of them is well done (from what Ive seen so far).

When all has been said and done, more will have been said than done.

Features don't matter as much as the implimentation of those features, and GW2 has both going for them.  No one would play the game if it had a bunch of features that didn't do anything to make the game fun.

guild wars 2 in beta is of a higher quality than every released mmo on the market, you can hate on it all you like but no mmo will touch it. after playing tera and tws beta , guild 2 is far superior to any of its competition, i know hipsters will want to hate on gw2 but thats just in their nature.

agree with both of you. I sorta laughed when I saw a post about TSW saying it has the most content released in a game in the last 5 yrs.. I just /facepalmed and thought you haven't played much have you and you must not have played GW2.

The game really just 'fits' for me more than any MMOG has in ages. It's like they personally asked me 'what do you hate about MMOGs' and every thing I listed they fixed.

    Questing is boring. check.

Everyone solo's because PvE is so competitive, even just leveling. Check.

DAoC did PvP the best and it should be taken as inspiration. Check (and boy have they improved upon it!)

I hate being pigionholed into playing my class a certain way because of the trinity. Check. I could go on and on.

GW2 really does change and fix everything I've always hated about MMOGs. After BWE1, I realized I could never go back to a normal quest-based MMOG again, especially a P2P one. On top of that, compared to GW2, I feel like I've been throwing my $15 a month into a pit of 'average' for almost every MMOG I've played in the last 13 years.

^This. So much this it's not even funny.

Anet and GW2 simply Ruined my mmo gaming experience. they should just release the game now because really no other mmo is worth playing if you already tried Anet Jewel which is called GW2

They kicked out everything I hate about mmos and improved everything I liked!

go play some DoTA or LoL till it comes out, those are lobby games too where you just pick what you are and pvp in an arena for 5 minutes.

How so? I see nothing humorous, just a persons opinion.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

He didnt see anything humorous either. Note that he said, "not even funny." That means that he was not joking in his agreement with the other poster's opinion.
