Blizzard Entertainment announced today that they have surpassed the 1 million North American subscriber barrier today. That bring the current cont for World of Warcraft up to around 4 million subscribers worldwide. To put that into financial perspective for everyone, that's 4 million subscribers at an average of $13.99 USD (The middle three-month package). That comes out to a revenue of $55,960,000 a month, and a whopping $671,520,000 a year.

Anyone else find this extremely ridiculous. They are getting 55 million dollars a MONTH! So what the hell are they doing with it? Making a dressing room, ooh content galore!!! Nice job Blizzard, just sit back and relax. Watch your game go down the drain.

Yep...people like you keep saying that and they keep getting more customers.

And you point out the dressing room but you fail to mention the new dungeon and battleground to go along with it. That seems like content to me.

However they could address some issues with servers a little better. But thats just mainly coming from server overload as more and more people still keep coming to WOW.

One other thing I didnt like though was the adding of a battleground when they havent fixed problems with the current ones. But other than these problems for myself I find Blizzard has addressed all the issues I had with other games that made them unbarable. So with all the other problems I had with other games, Ill gladly take these any day.

LMAO are you all that sucked into the game to not see its real problems? It has NO CONTENT. Who cares if they make one more battle ground and one more dungeon, those things should be coming in regularly. The only reason that their subscribers are still increasing is because how popular it is, people think its a great game because it has a huge population. They want to play with their friends, or they are just playing their first mmo. Once people realize that WoW is content-less and boring, they will quit. Most likely WoW will still survive on all the asians that play it.

I would like to know what people want as content .. they all blasted out WoW for content, when I they about ... No game got content if WoW don't have. WoW got a Huge world to explore with a lot of quest (that's content). They got some instance, and for all level (that's content). They got Battleground where you can get honor to get some nice faction items (that's content).
They got some festival all arround the world (that's look like content).
Soo, their you got a good PvE game with enough stuff to make you play some time.
A good PvP game with some Honor to make you «grind»
Their a lot of place to explore (since death is like nothing)
And ... their always people online

For the Server problem .. just take a server where the population is low. I took a low PvP server a while back, and .. I never got problem

It's not the best game for everyone, But, their enough stuff to make a lot of people play it.

WoW is a bit like Everquest 1 ... just with more an arcade gameplay and solo friendly.

What you find to be a problem and what others see as a problem can vary highly. And you think the population increase is because people are stupid and randomly throw 50 bucks at a game cause a bunch of people play it? Generally they know people or have heard good reviews of the game before they go out and buy a game like that.

Heh and no matter what you say.....you dont get 4 million subscribers by having a game that blows.

All the money goes to the President of Blizzard so he can play golf with Bill Gates and discuss "how good it feels to monopolize a market".

I mean... you do have you ask yourself: With that much money, how come:

    - Blizzard can't hire more GMs for all 1 million North American gamers?
    - Blizzard can't release more expansions than SOE has done with Everquest 1?
    - Blizzard can't hire class representives for BOTH FACTIONS?  All reps play horde, NO ALLIANCE!
    - Blizzard can't make Ironforge or Orgrimmar more stable and less laggy?

    ___________ ___ __ _ _ _
    Stealth - Ambush - Hemorrhage - Sinister Strike x2 - Cold Blood - Eviscerate - Vanish - Preparation - Cold Blood - Ambush - ... you're dead! :P

How is there no content?  There are several dungeons for just about all level ranges, there are numerous L60 dungeons and several raid dungeons - the most recent of which hasn't even been "beaten" yet.
Content IS coming in regularly.   They have been releasing essentially 1 new dungeon or Battleground for the past few patches.  I think you need to have your glasses checked.  The only difference between WoW's content additions and EQ2's is that Blizzard isn't charging for it.
The only reason that their subscribers are still increasing is because how popular it is, people think its a great game because it has a huge population.
People generally don't care jack or shit about the population when they log in.  They care about whether or not the game provides an enjoyable experience and all indications show that for most people, it is.
They want to play with their friends, or they are just playing their first mmo. Once people realize that WoW is content-less and boring, they will quit. Most likely WoW will still survive on all the asians that play it.
Here we go again with the "people will start quitting in droves!!" statements again.  I just don't see this happening.

Amen man! I'd love to see a class (profession) Correspondent system like SOE has with SWG.
I love the game, but I would like to see some results (or in the least news) on upcoming expansions/improvements. Who knows Blizzard may be planning such, but it's still be nice to see something tangible.

Hrm, it seems like you guys just keep argueing the same way. WOW HAS CONTENT???YEAH RIGHT WE GET ONE DUNGEON EVERY FEW MONTHS. If you think that content is about doing another 3 hour instance that looks similar to the rest, then you might as well stick with WoW forever.

Most people that are in favor of WoW have either never played a MMO besides WoW, or they have just started playing. Believe me, I loved WoW for a couple weeks. But when I hit 50 in two months and saw the lack of content, quickly I stopped paying Blizzard to play a shit game.

9216544, you are my new official hero. I have never understood why so many people play WoW. Yes, I used to play it even though I have played many MMO's before. Personally, I think that even Lineage 2 is better. All that WoW really has is SOME unique features, and a rather large community. But even with the large community, I found that they are all really big jackasses. Of course I did find some friends who play and hung around them, but even then people are just being plan mean. And lastly, I have no idea how people can think that the new "BattleGrounds" are any good at all. Personally, I found that WoW was the worst PvP experience I have ever had. And after playing GW, it seems even worse. So my suggestion is: Stop wasting money and go play something else, for you brains sake. image

And out of the 4 million people that play ...how many did you poll to come to the conclusion most havent played an mmorpg?

    Exactly.....nuff said!

If I'm not mistaken, the 3 million subscribers in china only pay $3 USD per month, not 13.99.

Refigure the math pls.  Only 1 million subs pay 13.99 and the rest pay far less.

Rofl. Close minded people. Content should not be only instances and batlegrounds. There is alot of stuff they could put into WoW, that hasn't even been considered yet. New races, classes, zones, cities, transportation, player controlled economy, guild houses, player housing, non pvp competetive games, new chapters to the storyline, etc. These are just basic things that they should add into the game.

  • WOWLagsWOWLags Member Posts: 115
Yep the game lacks content big time. What do you do when you have rolled thru every instance 30+ times? have multiple toons lvl 60? You get bored that's what you do. Most people pretend it has content and farm the instances, YAWN!.

No patcher so you have to download em else where :

Everything you said was entirely wrong.

The servers are fast, their customer service is great. A lot better then 90% of other games that are out there.

And it patches for me. I never have to download it else where. They use a torrent, you download it, and then clikc okay ot install. That' simple.

Not true! I and most people in my guild/ people I know that play it, have played alot of other mmo's. Most of us have been playing wow since open beta also. You say you got up to 50 and in 2 months and then quit so how would you even know what the game has for "content" above lvl 50? Everyone says wow has no content but they never say exactly what srt of "content" they are looking for?

The reason WoW has so many subscribers is because it appeals to a wide range of people. It appeals to the players of the Warcraft series. It appeals to the first time MMORPG because its simplicity and style. IT appeals to the hardcore MMORPG because its a new world to roam with new unique features. It appeals ot the casual game player because its simple playing style. The learning curve at the beging of the game is releatively low. And it appeals to so many people because it actualy does have content. The people who nit pick the game are those that expect everything, and if they understood the man power to produce such content then they'd have nothing to complain about.

The game is great for what it is. If you're looking for something else, then just don't play the game.
