Anyone else who couldn't play the stress test?

littleXurolittleXuro Member Posts: 37

I couldn't sadly, whenever I wanted to launch the game and create a character, I nearly cooked my processor within 30 seconds, kinda scary o.o

First time in my 11 years of mmo gaming that I ever faced any problem at all with a MMO. Appereantly the client isn't using cores and GPU properly which forces everything on a single CPU core. As a result many could only play really low FPS or not at all (lot's of people reporting these issues in tech section of the forum).

I can only hope they fixed this the next beta so everyone can play then ^^

So how about you? Could you play flawlessly?

Yep no problems at all, apart from some difficulties durung loading screens that stopped at 95-94%. Also no probs with fps, lag or hardware whatsoever ;). This was my first stress test and i hope they will be all like this!

Flawlesly with minor lag issues here and there.

And could not enter Destiny Reach (city) , it was stuck on loading.

But I did notice fans were working extra hard.

I had quite a few issues with this stress test. Before today I thought they were ready to launch. Now I think we have at least until fall. I wrote some of the issues I had in this thread.

Another friend played flawlessly too, appereantly certain series of processors and GPU face this problem.

It's the first time ever in 11 years I faced any problem at all so I had a real wtf moment as I was waiting months to try GW2 for the first time -___-'

What is your hardware guys? Wondering which pc's can run it smoothly right now.

Low fps and grey screen at one cutscene.. dunno if it was gpu or cpu, but it went off in couple of seconds. Then the black screen at creating a new character.

I think the "stuck at 95%" was because the world servers weren't up yet.

Hope they sort out some optimization for the next beta. Since it was really horrible to do mass events or play at crowded areas.

    EDIT for specs : I have FX4100-3.6Ghz / 8Gb DDR3 / HD 6970-2Gb

Only problems at first log in. After that, it ran flawlessly. I played from Europe. It may be interesting to mention where you played from , as it may have some significance.

    The Netherlands in Europe.

Considering how many could play flawlessly simply amazes me, how can I, while never facing a single problem with any game before, not even run the game without cooking my processor while I am running WoW, Vindictus and a movie at the same time right now without lagg or fps drop?

I'm a bit blown away that only so few have these problems. I'm luckily not alone with these problems but I do hope arenaNet fixes it before the next beta.

Played flawlessly, but contacts was broken-

the game both recogniced a friend in game, and denied he was online- no chat with him worked. And offcause we couldn't play on a overflow server, when we couldn't even form a party.

character creation didn't work until in late hours.

thats problems i didn't had in the BWE

but besides that it worked like a charm

    I7 - 940 2.93 GHz Quad Core

    DX58SO Intel Board

    GTX 460  1GB

    8GB DDR3

No issues running it on full graphics.  Small lag that was server side.

I couldn't play. After few minutes of play I was getting an error and game client was crashing. During open beta there were no such issues. So it seems that GW2 went backwards with the stability of the game from beta till now (just mine experience).

Played fine for me this time around, actually. I was laggy during events the first BWE, this time I was fine even with tons of people on screen.

Still got some things to work on though, I seem to have traded the lag problem for a loading screen problem. Lost 2 characters in limbo when loading screen got to 95% then it just froze forever, and they ended up stuck in limbo, unable to log back into them. Sent in a bug report and one of them was fixed before the beta was over, but the Elementalist was still unaccounted for last I checked. Pity, I was enjoying her.

EDIT - Playing from NA here, east coast.

I actually forgot to mess with the video settings since I was so obsessed with learning how to actually play the game. So I guess I had the "Default" settings when you launch the game, or whatever it chose for me. I didn't check my FPS, but I had ZERO FPS issues, and the only lag I noticed was in WvWvW, which was spiky. Besides that, flawless. (Besides a couple crashes here and there, took like 25 seconds to restart GW2 and relog)

Edit: Forgot the "II" part on the processor....makes a big difference haha

They did seem to have a rough time compared to the first BWE.

There were about 10 different error codes. On top of that was the 95% loading issue. It got over 1100 replies before they wiped the forums.

Better it happen now then at launch though.

First time to play the game today. I love it. I had to force close the client a few times because the loading screens would stop at 95%. My ranger got stuck in the mists....everytime I'd try to log into it...the mists loading screen would hang up at 95%. I noticed this a lot when loading my story instances as well. I had to turn all my setting to low as well because if I ran it any higher the low fps was very noticeable. Beta and a stress test...what can you say? I love the game and can't wait to waste countless more hours playing it.

  • I had no real issues except I couldn't enter my necro personal story instance.  My guardian personal worked fine though.  Got in fine had no load screen issues.  But I mostly was just in the outsides zones so I saw very few load screens.

Same spec as before, flawless gameplay, not even a milisecond of skill lag, nothing

    duo core 3Ghz

    gtx560

    4giga

    win7

But then i had no problem either in the first event

I went in the overflow for quiet some time, like 1 or 2 hour, and played the beta the entire time, no lag at all, i think i was kicked once for disconnect, and that was pretty much it.

I simply loved the necro, i think i found a winner here.

No problems here at all.  Performance was better compared to previous Stress test or BWE as well.

  • NaqajNaqaj Member UncommonPosts: 1,673

After the initial 10 minutes of 95% loading, the game ran for 6 hours without a hitch. Didn't even think to check temps or stats on CPU since there were no apparent problems. I did turn some graphics options down though.

I play on an 18 month old mid range machine, had no loading or lag issues, 2 random DC's but apart from that was a blast. A few of my guild wwere hit by the 95 % loading issue but that was early on and seemed to clear as the test progressed.

I decided to play most of the night in W v W and I've gotta say it was much better performance wise than the last BWE. It'll be interesting to see if the issues that have come up are related to specific hardware rather than general issues.
