I don't see the point considering 1.3 isn't released yet.  Why not save these weekend passes for when new patches hit.  Seems a no brainer to me.

how else are they going to pad the numbers for this quarter? gotta do it somehow

Wanted to try it out during the last Free Weekend they gave but for some reason the client wouldn't run. So I gave up on that and played TERA beta. Now waiting for more GW2 beta events.

LOL, Bioware really has no clue at all.  They can give away all the free time in the world to pad their monthly numbers but if people are sick of the boring leveling of alts, lack of good pvp, linear playstyle, then they won't play and find new entertainment (Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, Tera, Minecraft, or Pong for that matter)

I loved this game, and i'm just sick of defending it, and sick of giving them "one more chance" to redeem themselves. I'm too tired of these companies looking for a quick cash grab.

    My 2 cents....

The weekend passes are for people who haven't tried the game, not previous subscribers wanting to check out new content.

@ the people going on about padding numbers, this has nothing to do with anything of the sort. It's just a common marketing technique to encourage more people to buy the game... same as any other game does with demos or free trials, in fact just as many products that have nothing to do with MMO's also do. Like or dislike the game some of the silly posts about it are laughable.

I really tried to like this game, I really did    :-(

but it just is not a good game... mediocre at best..

So I dont care for all the free weekends they give away...

I´d sooner play GW2 as it is right now then TOR

You can't possibly be defending this game.  Have you not read this thread http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4995564#4995564 yet?

It's a great game for about one month, then a so-so game for another half month, then there's no point even looking back...

That MMORPG.com hasn't picked up on this yet!  This is pretty major and pretty much seals SW:TOR's faith.

I knew it was going to happen this way.  The moment they removed Ilum. The moment they posponed rated warzones until further notice... people should have gotten the hint that it was over and done!

PVP won't ever be fixed, yet alone ever see those rated warzones going live!

The game has already been put on life support. Just look at the amount of time between updates! And no indication nor any real info regarding Patch 1.3 yet!

But knowing EA tho... I am pretty sure they try to quickly rush out at least one paid expansion as last quick cash grab.

I read this as "Hey guys.... can you please stop playing D3 and doing OTHER weekend betas to look at our game?  Please...... :( "

  • kanezfankanezfan Member UncommonPosts: 482

I predict that next month they'll announce a 6 month sub for $45. Watch, I bet it happens.

If they did, I might actually consider playing it some.  As a single player RPG that is.

That has nothing to do with the topic of the weekend pass.

It does when the reason they're doing it is because it's a terrible game bleeding subs and they need to bring in fresh blood. Sorry.

It's time to remove the subscription fee, BioWare. This is not an MMO nor does it warrant a monthly fee.

They should have followed ArenaNet's business model.

As I see it, haters community has grown faster even then wow's one.

For the rest, after decades of various games ... swtor is best ever of any genre. For me of course. Fun since day 1, playing all time, have 4 maxed out republic classes, 4 close to, now developing empire 4 classes, .... I enjoy every second in.

Ok, i understand not everyone must love this or any other game. But hathred that so many express has nothing to do with game itself. Is problem with such people.

There are many games i do not like, have played but will probably never again, .... but there is no single game I would hate or bash constantly.

  • klash2defklash2def Member EpicPosts: 1,949

its not bashing, its truth. EA fucked this one up. there was potential.. but seeing the route its taking..EA would prob make a NFL Madden mmo before spending another dollar into swtor. im pretty sure they are close to recouping initial investment so they prob care even LESS about the mmo that didnt quite turn out how they planned..  dont get your hopes up kid.. i would be surprised if they DONT go f2p by year end.  At this point it may be the only option that financially makes sense to keep the game alive for the next 12 months.

Think what you may, but marketing a game doesn't mean anything other than a company wants to make more money yet by your twisted thinking even WoW must be failing seeing as you can play practically 2/3 of it for free, right? TOR could be losing 100k subs a week or gaining them and they'd still be doing these things to make more money.
