You would think that a company with as much experiance and money as Blizzard would have had their shit together. It's they're brilliant idea to require you to be online while playing single player.

Kind of ironic seeing they're marketing for D3 at the bottom of this page with the big bold print "Available Now"

It's not about how much experience you have.

Unless they completely overbuild their serverside equipment tand then pair it beck there's no way for them to be certain on how to scale their systems to handle all the players until all the players are, well, playing.

Sure, they can judge an initial estimate off preorders, but there's lost of people that still don't preorder the title and buy it release day or the night before.

As for the singleplayer aspect, I agree with you. No offline mode is a pain in the ass to an amazing degree.

EDIT: Servers are back up. Quickly flood them again!

Oh look, blizzard servers over-crowded and unstable after a major launch.  Who else is not suprised?

Might be understandable if it was a full blown MMORPG, but it's a single player game with some co-op lol.

Give it 2 months until most people get bored and it might be playable during peak hours.

Well so glad I didn't buy. Now had it been single player with online option then I would have bought it and this massive failure of a launch wouldn't have happened.

They knew the how many pre-orders were sold. There are no excuses!

Just curious, where did you get your technical degree again?

Honestly, do people really believe that things are so simple?

    Honestly, it is that simple.

And further, I don't have a Tech degree. I have an MBA. As such, I hire and FIRE Techs!

    Any other questions?

    Where is your MBA from?

I'll assume the silence means University of Phoenix.

Actually, I was eating dinner. I have a B.A. in marketing from UK. And I recieved my MBA from Campbellsville University.

And yours creds? I'm going to assume since you waded in so strongly, that you do indeed have a job. A real job, you know, not living in mommies basement, paying a morgage, taxes and such. The normal adult things.

Oh well...hopefully D3 is a wonderful game that will make me forget about its always online crap.  can't wait to play it tonight :).

It actually has verry little to do with DRM and "protecting" themself. It has everything to do with the RMAH and protecting its new cash flow. People need to stop kidding themselves. EVERYTHING Blizzard does is driven by cash. They knew people would buy regardless of the online all the time. They knew people would rage at thier terrible service at first but they also knew it wouldnt matter.

Hell just look at the streams they promoted last night. The only one that actually raged was DJWheat and even then once he got to play he joined in the rest of them kissing Blizzards ass. If the larger voices in the game community wont call Blizzard out why would they give a shit? They dont. Thier pockets are already lined and people will line up like good little sheep for thier next release. Personally though I can honestly say I am done with Blizzard. I should have stuck with my guns and not gotten D3 after I said I was done with them with SC2 (which I still dont have, refused to buy it based on them openly admitting they split the game up into 3 installments). But I was weak and now Blizzard and Bioware will never see another dime of mine at least for a long while.

Agreed. I have cancelled my wow sub and refused (continue to refuse) to buy D3. When I first learned that it required online connection, for the singleplayer option, that's what did it for me. I took a chance with Anet and pre purchased GW2. I played the BWE and the stress test on Monday and so far I'm loving it. There is still much that needs polishing in GW2, but hopefully they'll take care of those issues prior to release. If not, then we'll have a different discussion Anet and I.

Blizzard always fixes their stuff, they are a great company and not some stupid company like EA or Cyanide.

    Dont worry....

I guess this is a bad time to mention the South Koreans have been playing for 2 days now, reached level cap, finished the story in all modes of difficulty, have posted uber gear on the AH for you to buy for a fortune when you get online, and are now waiting for the expansion?

  • odinsrathodinsrath Member UncommonPosts: 814

well i think for 1 reason it was not playable on single player mode is because D1 / D2 were hack so incredibly bad to play without keys...and we all know that big companys like blizz dont like to give anything out for free..so they prolly have some kind of sercurity proventing people to play the single player if muli-co-op is down..im thinking they are linked some how..i guess idk..still a lil high atm

That made me laugh pretty hard LOL

ok thats out of the way, no need for the insults from both sides, who really knows who has what and from what university and what type of education? Bottom line is, who gives a damn.

Hell I know people where I work that keep the satilites in the sky so you guys can have your internet,TV and phone service, yet they don't flaunt their crap all over forums like this.

Anyways, we are here at MMORPG.com to discuss games and features of said games that we either like or dislike.

    Have a good one!

That's not the point. Point is you should not have to be connected to the internet to play this type of game. This online only is Blizzards greed (RMAH).

If we were allowed to play offline, we wouldn't have this problem now would we?

    This reply says it all.

it is in the bussiness of making money. for the player to make ANY money off items in a game is a bonus. what...you think blizzard would just let us keep all the money? and i don't want to hear about the 15% to put it on the market then 15% to transfer to paypal because you STILL get money for nothing in the end. a full time job you get paid for example : $2000 a fortnight, you would see 1400 of that. the rest is bye bye to the government (aus, every job is different and tax zones blah blah its an example lol).

it is not there to make a living. yes it sucks to give corporate companies money but it's just a bit of fun to score a couple of bucks here and there.

try paying a mortage and you will want to set your bank on fire hahahaha

    (all my opinion)
