When i first started WOW I thought it was a cool game. I made 60 in decent amount of time. Did a few of the lower level instances while leveling up but not very much. After i made 60 I started to do the higher level instances. After a trip or 2 through a instance I hated them alot. It was same thing each time. Fight through whole dungeon killing the names otw to open the path to boss and kill boss for chance at loot people needed. But the chance at useful loot was slim. So to get the loot peopl needed have rerun the instance over and over again fightkng all the way through for small chance at loot you needed. That wasn't very fun at all. After first few trips in instance they becmome so boring its not even fun.
WOW added BGs. I thought i give PVP a go. I PVP hardcore for weeks. i wanted rank 14. The PVP rank systems sucks. To get rank 14 you have to PVP 8+ hours a day for 7 days a week and can't even take a break. BGS get boring fast if you play like that. I made rank 13 and got tired of Warsong Gulch and wanted to take a break for week. I thught since me so high rank i won' lose much into my rank. Well i lost over 50% of my rank back to rank 12. I was mad as hell to say the least. So to get rank 14 it takes months of no breaking from pvping at all doing the same BG over and over hours at time daily for 7 days a week. PVP is just so repetive since you can't take a break from it.
To get loot in WOW requires doing instances over and over all the way through to get stuff you need. Loot for your class has slim chance of dropping. So expect to do the same instances over and over just get the items you want or need. And usually the last boss of teh instance drops the items people need /want. And to get last boss requires going through killing ceratin mini bosses/mobs to open the path to boss so expects mutiple trips through same instance just to get the loot you want/meed for that instance.
Questing is cool. Its really goodsystem. Its easy to find quest with the "!" above npc heads. But alot quest chain off each other and take place in same dungeon that you had to go to for the quest before that. So you get quest that takes you into a instance and do that part. Then egt enother quest that forces you to go right back into the instance you just left. Thats really just frustrating that chain of quests keeps forcing you to go back into the instance you already been to for the first few parts.
I just don't want play a game where I'm force to redo same instances over and over for a slim chance at loot I need. After first few times instances are really boring to me and don't want fight all way through the same instance over and over. PVPing for rank is a grind that you can't break from where you forced to do the same BG over and over hours at time. WOW is a loot based game and they got rid of camping areas for ceratin names for loot and instead you forced to redo instances over and over all the way through for small chance at loot someone can use. I just find it repetive i find it really boring and frustrating.

Very repetitive. That's the 1 of 2 reasons I stopped playing. If it wasn't for the repetitiveness of it I may still be playing.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
Blizzard made it to much like a single player rpg with a MMO element so many people could play. The PvP sucks it is like a freaken pokemon battle when you kill no looting, no turning a town for your side when you & your guild raid, BG is no big deal. Honor points are cool, but if you have to PvP for hours every day with no breaks or loose points that sucks, hey I love hardcore PvP, but WoW doesn't have it Honor points & BGs are just a bandaid over the carebear wound.
I agree it was cool intell you can't find anything to do
I agree that there is a certain amount of repetition in WoW, but many MMORPGs have vast amounts of repetition. I haven't quite gotten to the end game of WoW so I would be interested in what everyone has to say, but in all the MMORPGs I've played there is almost always a certain redundancy in the end game. In order to keep the players coming back for more they have to add in this factor in order to keep the subscription Dollars coming.
One of my favorite examples to this involves DAoC and Trials of Atlantis.
Farm for Scroll (Random Drop from any number of Mobs) x 3
Get Artifact ( Random drop from really hard mob that pops every 24 hours)
Level Artifact (Equivalent of 1-20 more levels worth of experience)
Again, I don't know exactly what WoW endgame has in store for my Hunter, but I think anyone would be hard pressed to find any MMORPG that doesn't have a ton of repetition in the end game.
Does your guild have a website yet? Find out how easy it is to get one.
WoW is a gaming paradox.
Blizzard created 2 games, 1-60 and post level 60.
They learned from all previous mmorpgs and corrected many of the mistakes they made. You can solo to 60 with any class, you have lots of things to do along the way, trade skills, quests, outdoor hunting, indoor, instances....
But when they made the post 60 game, the end game, they just copied ALL the previous mistakes.
WoW has no serious competetion atm, and no game is different enough, innovative and fresh, to start dragging players away en masse, the way WoW did for many current games.
But that will change.
Basically playing WoW til something better comes along.... not new, but better. RIght now, nothing, and I mean nothing looks any different than the rest of the MMORPGs that are out there right now. Everything is redunant, repetative... all the MMORPGs are this way.
Seriously, there hasn't been anything that has broken the mold since Shadowbane. And the only reason Shadowbane didn't get a larger following was average graphics and a crappy engine.

For many casual gamers right now WoW is the best MMORPG available. I understnad your frustrations with the game at level 60 nothing is soloable except for PVP, but even that is turning into a big guild necessary thing. After getting 6/8 pieces of the magisters set from the UBRS, SCHOLO, STRAT instances it took me about 10 days of playing time.
We are simply average people running around at level 60 while there are extreamly powerfull monsters that need 10-40 people to kill. That's just silly. Who plays these games to be an average person? Just a solider of the kings empire. Don't we all want to be the great general, that no one can defeat? That kind of power in this game is impossible. And it is understandable why, but still to me that is the downfall of the game. Once I hit 60 I have no where else to go except to gather loot, increase my reputation, and still not even come close to the power of the 62+ elites.
PIRATES OF THE BURNING SEA ROCKS!!!! O YEAH! OOOO YEAAAAAAH!!!!! OHHH YEAAAAAH!!!!!
ROCK ON!!!!!!! O YEAH!!!!!
I must agree,.. I played WOW for about a year or so and I must say that I was very impressed with how the game looked and how fast it was. Lag?.. If you play on a cable modem,.. you will not have problems. After a while the game did start toget old. I made it to lvl 55 and that was it for me. The quests started to get hard,.. if you could find any to do.
One thing that I really did not care for right from the start on this game is the combat moves. It really didn't seem like they put that much in to maken this fun. You do the same moves, the same spells, and thats it.
I also want to say you spend A LOT of time running around from place to place.. to me that got old as well.
But that is just my thoughts.. I may at some point go back to this game but... it will be sometime before that happens.
Been there done that:
Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift

why take up a trade skill - almost useless - anything you can make is overshadowed by the same level items found in game
it's the quests that are repetitive
and i've never found a reason to PVP - can't conquer territory and it has no effect on the game at all - battlegrounds is outside the game proper
and the repetition of waiting in queue to even play
What you say isn't 100% accurate, some trade skills are like that yes, but thats by design. THey don't want people getting too uber by just buying crafted stuff, they want people to spend the time, either in BG or in instances, to EARN their gear. Some tradeskills are better than others....alchemy is fun, lots of buffs you can put on yourself to make your toon better, lots of utility type potions as well, run fast, swim fast, go invis, invulnerability, stuff like that. Then there is engineering, make fun gadgets, like bombs, death rays, and other usefull stuffs. And Enchanting is always needed. Fishing/Cooking is usefull, first aid is practically required, etc. Almost useless....far from it.
You people who hate wow so much that you still troll the WoW boards are pathetic. If you don't like WoW, fine, not everybody is going to like every game. But please shut the fuck up with the lies and half truths. If you are going to post on WoW boards at least speak the truth.
I don't really see how quests can be repetitive unless you are doing then for the 3rd time with an alt, which is a fault in virtually all MMORPGs.
I guess you don't like PvP rewards? Kill people, gain PvP rank, gain access to awsome gear, thats a pretty good reason to PvP if you ask me. You can conquer territory in AV and it has a great impact on the BG. True it doesn't affect the game outside of the BG, but not everybody in the game is interested in PvP, so why should they be punished outside of BG because their side lost in BG? That would be stupid. If you really are concerned about bonuses gained for territory, then play in AV, the team with the most land is the most powerful team, thats the way the game works. The new BG will be teritorry based as well.
It does suck when there is a long wait, but generally I get into a bg within a few minutes. A short wait is usually a welcome break, it gives me time to clean up a little bit in the computer room, let the dog out, get a snack, chat with friends, duel with other people waiting, or worst case go raid the alliance BG portal
