If pitbulls could lock their jaw the first pitbull would still be hanging on

That's HOT
Um I just started playing EVE again for the first time since about a year ago (the last time I did a free trial) and haven't played before THAT since Beta.
In the 4 days I've been playing I've already been in combat. It's fun so far
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Are there many large fleet engagements in this game? I have heard that there are not, but only from a few people.
I'd have to say yes. I personally know of 3 that have occurred in the 6 days that I've been playing. One of them was right in my home sector. NOTE: you will want to be in a good Corp to do this. I haven't joined in the fighting yet because I'm still pretty new and would get chewed up, spit out, and stepped on. I am looking forward to doing it once I get my skills up a bit though.

Corp wars
Alot of corps also meet outside gates and that in 0.0 and like 100 people jsut shoot the hell out of eachother
I remember when i was in Rona back in the day when they were part of PA we all grouped into a massive 100+ group and did a parade for a video
One guy shot the police and it ended up like 40 concords on us All had to degroup and warp away lol!
Lost alot of BS that day

Don't click here...no2
The whole game is PVP to an extent be that actually shooting someone or just by manipulating the market. The let down for EVE is that the 14 day trial really isn't enough to get into the game. Personally I would recommend 4-6 weeks to work out if its for you.
As for combat.....there is a lot of it. I would recommend that you go to a .8 -> .5 Security system and play with a few rats before you go to lower security first. And dont be too put off if you happen to run into a gate camp as it can be quite dishearting when some "person" (cannot think of way to say it nicely) ganks you for the sheer hell of popping a nooby ship.
Not all pirates are like this though....just the freaks that just have a blood lust.
If you are a new player and have completed your basic training missions where your tutorial agent gave you a couple involving shooting drones, then you're getting the basic idea already. I'd reccomend hunting out 'fugitive hideouts' you often find in 0.9 space near newbie systems and trying your hand there. Instant basic combat vs easy rats. Scavenge some loot and bounties to buy and kit a better ship (the rookie one is utter rubbish for everything especially combat) and then jump into some asteroid belts in 0.8 or lower for more instant combat. Be aware that the toughness of NPC rats relates to the system's security level and the lower the number, the harder the opponents.
Also look for agents you can use that are in the Security or Internal Security divisions if you want combat.
If you are looking for PvP then get a better ship and stuff as before and most importantly ask people how to get into it. It's easy to find (any 0.4 or lower these days) but very tough for a new character unless you are taken in my a good corp who can train you up and show you the ropes whilst helping to keep you from beign ganked by carebear pirates who think shooting 3 day old newbies is the height of fearsome power...
