And the bad user reviews cannot come in fast enough. I was fortunate enough to beta test the game before launch and was left completly unimpressed. I am noticing the reviews are reflecting what my beta input stated. I wrote incredibly detailed lenghty messages on the beta test forums but let's be honest, it is far easier for Blizz to just stand up on the table, unbuckle their belt, pull down their pants and drop a gigantic steaming pile of shit onto your plate.

I think it was based purely on people not being able to play for that first day. So instead a bunch of people rushed Metacritic and gave mass zeros.
I guess that's the price they paid for online only single player. A really, really low Metacritic user score. At least no one takes it seriously.
Majority of the posts are bitching about battle. net not about quality of the game. D3 is so much better then D2. I can not remember when I had so much fun in any game
some of the reviews were about connectivity -- like this one

I'm giving it a 1. It would be a 9-10.....IF I could play it single player without having to worry if the servers are going to go down and kick me out of the game. I'm so upset about it that I'm planning on returning what I consider a 9-10 game. Only because I'm able to only get a hour, two max of playtime without being kicked off due to server issues...for a SINGLE player game that is terrible.

I think this review is hardly "useless" as you so state. Let's actually do some leg work and, oh I don't know READ what the people are complaining about SHALL WE?
Page one, very first review
- Charater customization was so confusing, so they removed it (no more skill points to distribute, no more attribute points to distribute, skills unlock automatically as you level up)
- Legalized gold selling, pay-to-win auction houses
- Scripted scenes EVERYWHERE 0Bland,
-one dimensional
-WoW inspired skills
-World PvP removed and the only PvP options is a WoW-clone arena (REMOVED TILL LATER, LOL)
-Voice acting is HORIBBLE compared to D2
-Timed log-outs in a game which its gameplay is based on being fast-paced (even on hardcore mode)
-FREQUENT CHECKPOINTS that revive you from where you are left off (how much more casual can they make a diablo game I wonder)
-region lock
-DRM that requires you to be constanly online
-blizzard 'promising' not to put any items in the RMAH Gee, I **** wonder what's gonna happen
-LEVEL 60 CAP Surely to be raised to 70,80,90 and so on with yearly expansions that consists of cut content for only another $60!
-reviewer by the name of koroshiya_ichi
It is hard to argue with many of the points this person made. Care to revise your statement there zym? Or are you too busy stuffing your mouth with Blizz Diablow three turds to read?
Metacritic is crap. People who post there are retarded.
The game is amazing.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Apparently the OP does...lol
Yeah I had the priveledge of being a beta tester on the game. I spent a huge amount of time offering criticism and advice on important game changes as did MANY other playtesters. Seemingly we were all completly ingored. It is not only frustrating but insulting to know how much time we spent attempting to help Blizz improve the game series that so many people loved and yearned for only to see Blizz stand up on the table and take a crap onto our plates. It is like trying to play chess with a pigeon. In the end the pigeon is just going to strut around the board knocking all the pieces over shitting everywhere.
Take the blinders off and realize that smell of bullshit is not coming from user reviews, it is coming from inside the Diablo 3 box.
This would imply that the hundreds of games on Metacritic that got 4's, 5's and 6's are better than Diablo 3.
So go play those. I'm sure you'll have a blast.
What are you too poor to afford shit?
So how is this game compared to PoE?
I wonder what kind of horrible incoherent mess we'd have if developers accepted every teenage game tester's ideas... /shudder
I'm sure there are some ideas that are brillient...some...not so much. Since I am not a game developer, nor are the game testors, I have a feeling that there is a slight chance they may know more about the game than me/us. Just a thought.
Hehe, exactly
D3 is far from perfect, but come on... 3.6?? That alone is proof enough that Metacritic is useless nowdays.
Being unable to log in to a single player game. That's what matters. Regardless of gameplay quality, this game deserves to be lambasted for implementing such an idiotic and onerous form of DRM. And one that supports it's other pillar of stupidity: the RMAH.
I frankly don't care how misrepresentative that score is of how the game actually plays. I just hope it puts some people off from buying it and supporting Blizzard's bold one-upmanship of Ubisoft in the race to f*ck over gamers with more and more intrusive forms of DRM. I will give credit where it's due though. Tying the scheme in to support their RMAH was clever. I'm sure they'll net a lot of suckers with it.
i agree - thats an annoying DRM for players that only want to play the single player game

While I am not a teenager I am pretty sure that this game has a huge teenage gaming consumer target audience. I have been playing video games since 1983 when I was six years old with the Telstar Arcade, Atari, Coleco Vision, Sega, Nintendo, one of the very first home sales of the IBM PC Junior etc. My gaming experience is extensive and vast. I had hoped my input would have been at least listened to.
But you are right that the corporate board who handles the investors dividends holds more sway that people who love playing video games and want to see the best possible game made. Power point presentations handling the revenue shares from the real money auction house took priority over graphics. Morning meetings and confrence calls discussing pre-order sales took precedance over customization. Words like "metrics" were used more than words like "gameplay".
Money > a good game. This is the current state of Blizz's gaming model. Bli$$ard Ent$rtainm$nt

Let me see, I am not a teenager either and I am having a blast playing this game. Never read Metacritic, I am pretty good at deciding for myself...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
If you didn't like the game, and are not playing it, why the post? Is this a little bit of the I Told You So Syndrome?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
I am only allowed to post if I am a Blizz Drone? I was not aware that negative croticism was not allowed to be posted? Am i only allowed to post if I dig my spoon into the Blizz turd and take a big steaming mouthful of doodie and then smile and say how much i like eating turds? Is my name Dudditz?
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
I think he's just upset that they didn't listen to him with his "vast" knowledge of gaming (and running a business apparently).
I don't understand why people feel the need to post negative comments. There are almost 7 billion people in the world not everyone will like the same things but I assure you calling something a "steaming pile of shit' and being dramatic and emotional over a video game isn't going to really do much. Also, from reading your post here I can understand why Blizzard may have not taken your advice to seriously.
Anyway, to each their own! I am having a BLAST!
It's fair to critisize D3 for not being innovative, but lets be fair here....its not exactly a big pile of crap. Lets leave the hyperbolic speach for the politicians. lol
As for the online connection requirement....me thinks it serves as more than a DRM mechanic.
To start, Blizzard is trying to create an eco-system with their games. They want folks who are playing SC2 or WoW to be able to tell when a friend logs into Diablo....and vice versa. While convienent for players to be connected with their gaming friends, it also helps promote Blizzard games if players don't feel isolated playing one game, while their friends are playing another. It's actually a pretty smart business move considering more and more gamers are becoming less loyal to one particular game for long periods of time. In order for this to work effectively, EVERYONE has to be connected to BNet's servers...regardless if you're playing a MMO, RTS, or a Single Player / Co-Op RPG.
Secondly, this is a way for Blizzard to enforce anti-hacking policies. Anyone that's played Diablo 2 fully understands how rampant gear hacks & duping was. That would KILL the multi-player piece of Diablo III, which it seems that Blizzard tried to improve on in this itteration.
The disconnects will go away soon enough.....just as they do with every other game after launch.
I'd like to play through more of the game before I take a concret position.....but from what I've played so far, its a fun game. Again, not supprising or innovative any any way.....but still a fun hack n' slash game.
On a side note: Blizzard really missed the boat on the mouse gestures that Lineage Eternal is using for their "Diablo Clone"
Yeah..wouldn't it be nice if they at least listened to the good suggestions. Especially from gamers that have been here since the beginning. Not all of our suggestions either...but Elder gamers have a lot to draw from and I imagine some good ideas from time to time. No..I'm pretty sure betas are now just for finding/fixing bugs and stress testing . These days the developers just don't give a fuck what we think. With a few exceptions I'm sure.
No, its not.
Yes, it is.
