Portable MMORPG aka psp

Just sitting here playing on the psp and suddenly wondered if it was viable to create a mmorpg for it.

I realise the screen is much smaller than a PC's but its near enough as powerful as a ps2 and has wireless internet.

UO might work, as would a few others... not sure about wow and the like

Now if eve worked on it ........ image

Well why would you play a mmorpg on a handheld console?

They are used for short bursts of gaming on the go

True, but still it would profit. Think about it. There may be one in the future, but there will be lots of multiplayer games that will simulate the MMORPG style. Monster Hunter Portalble, Infected, and some other future games....

It would be cool but theres what...10 buttons? and 1 joystick...you would need to carry a keyboard, maybe mouse, and you would need internet on it...

But still, if it happened i would toast it ::::20::

PSP has a really short battery life though, and it gets even shorter when it has to use power to connect to the internet. So you would pretty much be forced to play a PSP MMO at home with a charger, and if your at home with your PC, why play the PSP MMO when you have your computer?

The closest thing I have seen to a Protable MMORPG was a game on the N-Gage, I don't remember the name at the moment though.

Actually, I remember a developer talking about using portable game systems as an extension to the main game. Can't log in to your preferred MMORPG because you are on the subway? Pull out your portable and work on your characters lockpicking in a mini-game.

I just wish I could remember who was throwing that idea around. image

Actually, there are some MMORPG's on cell phones so the market is there.

WRONG, you can plug the charger into any wall socket -- EVen the ones at offices and doctor visits, they aren't the ones that care about whether you do it either, it's the administrators and they're not there to police the places :P

PSP battery is a short term issue - sony will be releasing a extended version, and theres already a unofficial way of running at double the capacity. But I take the point re limited time, but that might be a good thing, especially in korea :)

Keyboard will be showing up from all accounts.

Played Untold Legends now, just need a keyboard for typing the old role play and nearly guild wars.
