Ok first off i would like to say i have really enjoyed playing conan for all its faults. The last straw for me i guess was the store..not that i minded them having it.it was for the cost of everything.60 or 80 points a month for a guy that subs sux big time.goes onto the border of being greedy considering that a lot of stuff in the game is broken.
when you look at lotro where i am a lifer..i have no sub and i get 500 points a month as well,i guess well it says it all itself does'nt it.
when all said and done they are just trying to milk this game until death which is a real shame because it is a good game..i know and get it that they are out to make money..but then there is being greedy, and i think funcom are being greedy.you have companies like trion who do free char transfers and they do it instantly.then you have funcom, blizzard scamming people for £15 to transfer a char or rename your char.
There is no hope for me either mainly cos i,m looking at TSW..i hope to god funcom dont f--k this one up..i think this time i will wait til reviews by you guys are out before i purchase..

funcom, soe, ncsoft, they all have the same track record.
when you say "TSW..i hope to god funcom dont f--k this one up" i can tell you right now, the same high up executives are in charge, itll be the same scenario all too soon, new turd, same polish, still just a shiney hunk o shite down the road.
Funcom basicly have economic problems, in that they can't just hire more people to fix all the problems, they have to prioritize and most of the money goes to TSW. There is about 80 people still working on AOC, and 300 total in Funcom. But there is also some really bad decissions made, Bori and the hardcore servers for example. That's alot of wasted resources that could have been spent better for example into making the crafting changes.
The decission to not make any new recipies is one I can't understand, just because there is coming a crafting revamp dosent mean it's a good idea to not make new recipes for 3 years. The result is basicly a dead economy. A functional economy is important to many players vets and new players alike. It's a really bad decission really to not fix the economy, and we're still going to wait something like 6-8 months for a fix...
TSW team already got their hands rubbing together, subs plus cash shop. I had all intense and purpose to play this game until that was announced, they can foxtrot oscar now.
Of course the cash shop is high priced. They only have what? 4 or 5 people left playing ...gotta make the money.
Glad I quit at release.
TSW lol. Yeah that'll be a "good" game.
If i get 3 years worth of fun out of a MMO i would say job well done.
Bite Me
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Gaute Godager the lead guy behind AoC, and the one who took most of the blame for the game's faults? If I remember correctly, he's been long gone from Funcom, so it may be too soon to throw Funcom under the bus as far as TSW is concerned, no?
Their track record goes well past AoC, to AO, whuch had an abysmal launch. Furthemore gaute was nothing more than a scape goat, in AoC case. The game was rushed and thrown out the door. Just like AO. The problem with Funcom lies deeper than gaute. The thing that urked me the most about AoC's launch was at launch the Dev team split. One side went to work on a "new MMO" which I presume is TSW while the other stayed to work on AOC. No way in hell should the team have split so soon after launch, while the game was in such shambles. This is Funcom for you.
TSW is going to have one hell of a hype train barling down full speed ahead. Its what Funcom does best. Its inevetable that people are going to blindly hop on it. Ive got my pop corn waiting for this epic trainwreck to happen in june. Normally I kind of feel sorry for people that get suckered into a game, but not this case. The only phrase that comes to mind is "A fool and his money are easily parted"
My advise for whatever its worth is wait 2-3weeks after launch to hear what people say about TSW. Me personally Id wait longer because "the new game feeling" doesnt wear off until a good solid month. You see it on every game board, die hard fanboys start dropping like flys after a month.
Its going to be the best time ive ever had on these forums because ill be here rubbing salt in the wounds of those foolish enough to rush out and buy this game.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
Actually, there was a strong indication the team was split to work on the AOC expansion soon after launch. Still, I agree with you it was a mis-managed mess and I don't expect any improvements in the TSW launch.
To the OP, I'm actually surprised you stuck around for 3 years. What kept you there for long out of curiousity? Was there enough content in the end game to keep you occupied or was it more of a hang out with friends or re-roll multiple characters type deal?
