many new "online only" games have no demo on launch

    - so the servers dont get congested more than necessary the first few weeks

    demo will be forthcoming later

It has been proven time and again that the majority people who pirate a game will not buy it if it isn't available.

    Piracy isn't "lost sales".

People don't buy more games because you take away the ability to pirate them.

Thank you for bringing this up.  The "lost sales" propaganda is getting old.

Ofc you have plenty of evidence of this. Unfortunatly it's impossible to show how piracy affects sales since there is so many factors that affect sales. So it's really up to companies to decide how they deal with it. One good question is ofc why console games sell better on consoles than in PCs? Again there is so many explanations as there is people.

Again article is plain shit. Why moan stuff that he already knew, it just shows how spoiled idiots people nowdays are. Again I personally didn't buy D3, end of story and no moaning. Only way to vote in this game is by buying or not buying.

Good funny thread. Seemed a bit lame with the name picking part but eh, guess it was suppose to be funny anyways and any more serious issue woudln't really be considered.

The important part is that if piracy affects sales, the effect is so miniscule that its not measurable by any extent.

Console Piracy is rampant, i don't know of a person that doesn't have a chipped Xbox, cracked 360 or hacked PSP.

Everything I have heard says that you get more sales by making a game easy to buy and use then you ever do by making a game hard to pirate.

Also on topic, while it's funny it just sounds like a whiner.  Oh no a game that was plauged with duping and hacking goes online only with it's squel to try to stop that...

I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

"Entitled" game outrage, caused by companies who do shoddy, shady things in order to squeeze more money out of customers, which leads to yet more "entitled" gamer outrage.

And then companies wonder why video games have become such a shaky business, why they don't have the loyalty of their fans anymore, why fans that used to weep at their failures now point and laugh instead.

I swear there's some huge war brewing between gamers and ironically, those who make the games. People keep saying 'take a stand, vote with your wallet', etc., but that's already happening. Look at the pressure the industry is constantly bowing to, the more pronounced failures of game launches and cancellations, and so on. Lines are bein' drawn, dudes!

Good to see these kinds of issues are being talked about, but it still makes me glad I switched out of Game Development and into an Animation major instead.

What a useless read, i kept hoping it might get better but no its just all useless.

I havent encountered a single issue since the first day of release.

How could you not experience issues such as the servers being brought down every couple days? UNless you mean the same way I haven't experienced them, as I didn't buy the game.

Great read as Cracked articles usually are, I too am surprised how many people defend Blizzard.  They don't give a rat's ass about the consumer, just money, don't defend their broken services.

Bah everyone would just bash everyone. I'm tired of this. and blizz gave me so much joy over the years(~4 years of diablo, 2~ of starcraft) that I can't do that.

All my friends who sticked with diablo longer then normal diffictulty played it on BN ONLINE. No veteran D2 player cared about offline mode, becuase it was boring after a while. No trading, no people 24/7, no random chatting.

D3 is a new game with server problems. Deal with it or get out. It's like me and Tera. I didn't like it -I got out.  I believe I posted once about it and stopped. Or SWTOR. I got bored and decided to take a break and not to whine about doom...

yea I am mad about server issues, but I understand the need of fixing stuff...

The Blizzard North from those days is not the Blizzard we see today.  At first I loved Blizzard.  I hated all the postponing of launches, but I knew what I would eventually get was a quality gaming experience.  Now, I don't see that.  I see them removing choice after choice.  I see them breaking up products and creating new services for more sales instead of better games.  They are not the pioneers they once were.

Also, all the duping and crap was not done offline and pushed online.  That was done on their online servers.  Again and again and again.  Hosting the online character profiles server side has nothing to do with your locally saved single player profiles.

Everyone who bought the game supports this form of DRM.  You all deserve the future(present) you helped create by supporting it.

D3 is a new game that doesn't need to be played on a server unless you are playing multiplayer. Server issues shouldn't have an effect on singleplayer mode, period. I enjoy the game and suffer through the issues - still ongoing lag problems but I shouldn't have to. That's why people are pissed, once again the people who pay for the product are the ones being punished with restrictive DRM.

That, sir, i think is the definition people have given me for a fanboy.

The people that gave you those years of joy (and myself) probably don't even work for Blizzard anymore after they got bought out by Activision. Please, PLEASE stop supporting companies that just try to squeeze people for every dollar. Blizzard never used to be like that...but with Activision... put a cash shop in every game, release one-third of Starcraft 3 at a time so they can make $180 on one game instead of $60, etc.

Its the same as people who call themselves Republican/Democrat and will only vote for whatever they align themselves to. Hitler could be a Republican, running for president, and people would vote for him. Issues be damned.

Oh so I don't jump on the hate wagon = fanboy? Meh.  I know it's kewl thing to do, but not me. (btw I'm more BioWare fanboi).

I will not stop supporting my favorite franchaise. Diablo 3 is a very good game, which will give me joy for another years to come. I don't feel like squeezed out of the money. I feel worse when I play crappy F2P mmo where on each step they force me to use the cash shop.

Starcraft had two parts and everybody bought it. Now we will have three. Starcraft 2 will have expansions big whoop. You wanted them to release it for free? How about fries and big hell no with that?

Blizzard didn't change much. World changed around us. Technology, internet, gaming, gamers(not all, but most from nerds to bunch of whiners) and we're older.
