If you haven't tried Rift you are missing out. Free up to level 20.
~Im not what I am~
Fallen Earth might be what you seek.
Its been awhile since I've played it but...Why not give Tera a look see? I didn't find it too difficult (at the start at least) and the political system consisted of players attempting to get voted in to the leadership positions for 14/16 of the areas, where as the other two were fought for leadership rights.
I'd imagine the pop is rather large, it just came out recently. Give some videos a look through n' browse the forums on their site, you never know.
Best of luck ^^
Fiesta online~
Some things I prefer
Territory Control - No
Politcal System - No
Easy To Level - Depending on how much money/time you're willing to invest it can be very easy or very hard.
Easy to Learn - Yes, easiest MMORPG I've ever played as far as learning goes
50/50 pvp/pve - More like 60/40 PvE/PvP
Large Population - Depending on server. I'd reccomend Bijou, Teva (my server, i'd help you out if you joined) or Epith.
Now going into more detail--- First of all as a new member you'll have a hard time getting money in the game, as the economy is completely messed up. But "academies" will give you more than enough to play if you join the right one.
While the game doesn't have Territory Control, stronger guilds do undoubtably have advantages and more power. This is because of the games raiding system. Whichever guild has the most people who are willing to spend money to buy premium charms, to raise damage and has the highest level characters can nearly always get the rare, powerful drop that raid monsters drop. This keeps the top guild on top, and the bottom guilds on bottom. A new guild breaking into the top is VERY difficult. Most servers are dominated by 2-3 guilds, out of the around 50-75 active guilds every server has.
Class customization is... different in this game. You get a promotion quest at level 20, and 60. At both of these levels you're praticallyl stepping into a new game. You don't get to choose a new class to branch into at either of these levels though. As far as skills go, everyone can buy every skill for their class with no problem, but you can empower a skills power, cooldown time, SP consumption, and durration(for some) by using skill points you get every other level.
Your (currently final) promotion comes at level 100 where you do get to choose your new class. Nearly every class has one dominate branch that is better than the other though
Balance in the game isn't amazin but the developers are currently taking huge steps to fix it!
The cap was just recently raised to 115
The classes include: Mage (branches into Wizard and Warlock at level 100) Fighter (branches into Knight and Gladiator) Trickster (branches into Reaper and Spectre) Archer (branches into Ranger and Sharpshooter) and Cleric (branches into Guardian and HolyKnight)
Tricksters are the rogue class in the game. They were not an origional class and only recently added. Most players consider the useless, so you'll have a hard time getting a party if you choose this class.
Also Archers currently are imbalanced, so up till around level 90 you'll have a hard time getting parties on them also.
Fighters are VERY costly to play. Mages can also be VERY costly to play if you want to get parties. I would reccomend clerics, because they are always important and can get parties faster than any other class.
I mention parties so often because soloing in fiesta is VERY difficult. Partying in the game will help you to level up nearly twice as fast.
Archers, and Fighters, And Mages are the best solo classes if that's a path you'd really like to take
I almost forgot to mention. The game also allows customization in builds. You can add one point to END, DEX, INT, SPR, or STR every level.
I hope you choose fiesta! it's developed by OnsOnSoft and published by Outspark.
