I'm not sure if there Zelda MMORPG. But here is one MMORPG which should be open beta soon, September I think...

It suppose to feature cell shaded option for players.

    http://www.sealonline.com/

Check out the features page. It says something about cell shading option and outline option.

P.S. Could you please resize the Zelda pic? It's a little too big...

The only thing I hate about Cel Shading games is it's too new and not well developped yet. Or maybe it's because our generation of PCs and consoles can't handle what it could really be like!

Ever noticed in all the games you mentioned only cel shade THE CHARACTERS and not the environment?

It looks ugly. If you're gonna use cel shading, then make everything cel shaded so it feels like I'm really playing a cartoon!!!

The day an entire game is 100% cel shading, and it gives the illusion i'm playing in a 2D world, that's when it'll be worth it!

I am a huge Zelda Fan as I gre up on the original. However everytime I hear the term Cell Shading I immeditally get nightmarish flashbacks to the atrocity of Windwaker. That game was an embarrassment to the franchise. And pretty much every game I have ever seen with "Cell shading" looks just as bad.

Personally, I would like it better if only characters and items are cell shaded, leaving the background or environment either 3D, or static 2D.

That way, your character and items stand out more. ::::01::

And that's your opinion. Personally, I think Wind Waker was the first game to get cel shading right. Is that the only thing you disliked about it? Gameplay wise, it was nearly identical to Ocarina of Time.

I loved the graphics and i thought it was like all the others!

I found it a little hard and annoying at times.

Would be nice to get a mmorpg Zelda :)

I dunno..Zelda wouldn't really translate well at all into an MMORPG. Think about it--who would all the players be? For some reason I can't shake the thought of 10,000 Links running around...

Is Graal still around? That was pretty much a ripoff of the SNES Zelda game as an MMORPG. As far as a "Hyrule Online" style game - that could be interesting, however, Nintendo would insist on using connectivity rather than actual online game play. image

Back to the topic itself - I think a cell shaded MMORPG would be a welcome change. Although, some MMORPG players are rather particular about graphics. I personally really like the look of WoW, though I heard it derided as "too cartoony" by many people. (Most of whom I noticed were either already not a fan or were looking for reasons to dislike the game...) Assuming the rest of the game concepts looked sound, I would play an MMORPG that had cell shading without hesitiation...

Wasn't True Fantasy Online (the Xbox MMO that was eventually canned) cell shaded? I believe the environments were not, but the characters definitely were.

I remember reading previews of this game, but never hearing anything else until much, much later when some article mentioned it's cancellation. Anyone have the full story?

Graphics played a huge role in this game on why I simply could not get into it. Graphics normally do not bother me much, but I felt like this was geared to 8 year olds, and that I simply could not stand. However it was not the only factor.

This was the other factor for me, the fact it was not link. To me I just did not feel Zelda, It felt like a cheap spinoff trying to bank on the franchise's success. I am not the only one who felt this way, I know a ton of other Zelda fan's who simply cannot stand windwaker. While elements of the story were there, they just felt artificial and forced, After playing the game for 5 hours I simply was not feeling immersed in any manner so I set it down and have not touched it since.

IF you were  a real legend of zelda fan and your grew up on the original you wouldnt be complaining if the graphics were pure shit... Even though there not...The legend of zelda really has only had 2 3d games 3 if you count windwaker. But the reason zelda is so big is because of its gameplay i mean it uses the same meathod over and over and over...but its still fun every time..LOZ layout...Get a item, do a crazy puzzle, fight boss wtih that item...get a heart container.... go to diffent duengeon and do it all over again..

But its still a really great game franchise..And about windwaker i say it was the 2nd best legend of zelda game out there...1.orcarina of time.2. wind waker 3. A link to the past.

And yes LOZ:TWW was the first game to do cell-shadeing right even if the blue ocean does get alittle borning every once In a while.

    OK im done.

It's not a cheap way of doing graphics at all--you just don't happen to like the style. I think games with these graphics are much more refreshing than the multitude of games that attempt to make their games look 'realistic'.
  • bluefreak12bluefreak12 Member Posts: 40

Yea thats true The Legend Of Zelda :The Wind Waker was a break on my eyes from all the realisic looking graphics that dont look so realistic.. lol

Windwaker does not even honestly warrant argument. I was not and never will be Zelda. The only thing it had in common was a token mention of Link, and similiar gameplay.

LoZ for the NES was and always will be the best, and no sequel or especially a cheap spinoff using the Zelda name will ever equal it. Sure Windwaker might have been a good game from a gameplay perspective, but I am sorry it just is not Zelda in anything other then Name.

Statements such as this are rather assnine. In your opinion it was a bad game, and sure there are others that think so as well. But there are also legions of gamers who think that WW is one of the best in the series to date. Anyhow, I think you've established that you didn't like the game, so that's nice.

Back on topic, isn't one of the games Webzen is working on a cel shaded MMO? Can't remember the name of it though...

lmao is that XIII? that game rules! too bad they're not making a sequel :(

First off how can you not call LOZ:TWW a real zelda game huhh???? Did it have zelda in it ??? YEs why i think it did it had the same story line and game play as most other zelda games aswell :gather the triforce to save Hyrule!!! If this is not a legend of zelda game i dont know what is?

Zelda is to Link as Link is to Zelda. One without the other is not a whole.

So it had Zelda in it..so what? As I recall Zelda has always at best made token appearances the entire story has always evolved around Link. the only thing WW has that is Zelda are a few token references, that does not make a zelda game, that makes a franchise mooching sequel.

I'd have to disagree with yout there...Windwaker IMO is the best zelda since the original. Link should always look super cartoony..it's the way the original looked and how it should be. The games where they tried to make him look more realistic just made it look retarded.

on a side note: The Windwaker is the only console game i've played and actually finished in the past 10 years. Absolutely 100% awesome game. People that don't think WW looks and plays the way Zelda games should simply blow my mind...

The Legend of Zelda is and always will be my favorite game of all time. image

cell shading is the worst thing to ever happen to gaming. I can't play games that are cell shaded, I don't hate my eyes that much.
