I wish there is a dressing room

belerenbeleren Member Posts: 63

For customizing my character, I always wanted a dressing room which includes all possible customization options so I can design my chraracter's look and know which items and dyes to collect/craft. What do you think? Will Anet implement that in game in the future?

Press H and equip different armor? I would like a previewer for gear and weapons doh. Dont think there is yet. Like ctrl left click to "equip" item to see how it looks.

That would be great. Like TSW's I think all games will be going with the dressing room thing after this year. That's one things I hated about WoW post BC was that a 3 week toon looked like my 4 year toon :(

Yeah a very good suggestion, specially since "vanity" is a huge part of this game, moreso than in other games.

I don't say it should be like DCUO. It can be a tool which you can design your appearance. It gives a direction not look itself. You still need to wear the armor/weapon to change how you look. Also a previewer is a must these days.

How about more orriginal and innovating features, been dreaming abou an undressing room for quite some time now ;)

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

i really don't understand why this is not the standard yet. I am honestly confused how they keep saying it's about prestige and looks and then not offer this feature.

I think that's a really good idea for this game.

It could give you access to every design in the game with a little description about how to get the item.

I think this whole town clothes is a lot realistic :P i loved the initial town clothes it really gives you the feeling of being an individual in that game world like other people including npcs, while wandering around the city or your very home.

And for that you have the transmutation stones, so i am sure they will not bring that kind of system. I like transmutation, it just makes that stats real with the skin :)

While i agree and love this feature, wouldn't it make transmutation stones pointless?

You need to get the pattern you want from the world. Then you transmute stats onto the item from a piece you like.

Is that not how it works?

No, because you wouldn't ge to wear the things you try on, just see how they look on you character. You can decide after what the look you like is, work on getting that gear and after that, transmuting it to the stat gear you are using. That's how I understood it anyway.

I think they just want to inspect the appearance of dropped gear, linked gear or gear on other players, then play around with dyes, without having to equip the item. Not have a database of every possible item in the game.

Pretty much what EQ2 and WoW has.

Really? Because when I read the following, I get something different:

For customizing my character, I always wanted a dressing room which includes all possible customization options so I can design my chraracter's look and know which items and dyes to collect/craft.

I guess he can correct people if that is not what he meant.

That was the concept in my mind.

Yeah, all possible customisation options for the items he or she is inspecting? As in the dye options.

I hope thats what he or she meant. A database would be stupid.

    Why?

Because it removes any sense of exploration and discovery?

Looking at an item someone else has shown you - or what someone else is wearing - or what you see at a shop, is VERY different to being able to see every single item in the game from a drop down menu in a dressing room. Drop down menus for every item in the game is completely immersion breaking and stupid.

Then I think you are also against "database websites"for same reason. But it means it exists doesn't means that you have to use it and "ruin" your game. It can be useful some people like me and if you want you can ignore it and play like it doesn't exist.

Not at all. I find Zam, LootDB and other sites very useful for finding specific items. Although I prefer it if sites release them after player discoveries (LootDB) rather than data mining (Zam).

I just dont like it to be in-game drop down menus showing every single item and where to get it. It ruins the fun of exploration and discovery by shoving it right in everyones face. As opposed to the other sites which you have to actively search for something and probably already know of the item that you want to find.

I am with Evil on this, there is no reason to have a complete database in game. Just as he said it removes the exploration and such.. but a basic dressing room is well needed IMO.
