Love finding more mmo-fos like yourself in Tera?!

ME-2 !!!

I am truly looking forward to the subscription costs kicking in. I know in mmo-space there is not a lot to play. The market is saturated and it is very hard for us consumerism gamers to focus on 1 game. They just cannot hold our attention, or maybe are game is just not yet released.

It feels like Tera has gathered a lot of these stray dogs (as i am usually) and it seems to be hurting the outlook of this game. Sometimes in the form of these forums. Sometimes in the form of in game trolls. (No i certainly do not think this is new to Tera and realize it happens in every game, as is the evolution of a new game)

The tight knit community in Tera (personally for me celestial hills server) will be the ones left playing soon and for this I am truly excited. I seek the comradery of the TRUE TERA LOVER! The tank who is obsessed with getting that Tier 13 set to +12 and who wants to try and pull 5 level 60 BAMs at once to stare danger in the face and say I TOLD YOU I COULD DO THAT YO!!!!

I am Hero of Celestial Hills.

I am an Arborean of the Human Race.

I wield an axe as my brethren before me.

Love your game.

Peace and Love.

But it's important to stay objective, if you really care about the state of the game and its progression.  Remember, people that are currently playing, even if they aren't "subscribers", are people that bought the game.

A burned customer, or a customer that has the perception that they were burned, isn't anything to be proud of.

I'd prefer to see EnMasse make a concentrated effort to continue to improve upon the game, and garner more future subscribers, and new customers that go out and buy the game in the future.

We shall see, I would rather see EME make the TERA boards sub only next month, getting sick of the trolls, same with the ones on here.

Since that "why the high score" thread was made TERA went from 8.43 to 8.34 and Rift went from 8.20 to 8.32, I WONDER what  people are trying to do.

Yeah, but like every other fan-driven rating system, the numbers are stationed somewhere in the far outskirts of reality.

A smart prospective buyer will read through the trollish posts and deem which ones actually have some merit and substance, and which ones are obviously flames from addle-brained nitwits with nothing better to do but tear down things they don't like, even if they don't play the game themselves.

But thats the problem, a lot of feedback IS objective, then what will they focus on, their idea of their perfect game or the majority of what a perfect game is, problem is also that there is a small percentage of gamers who actually go to a forum to complain, which one should they listen to? the ones in game happily playing or some gamers that seemingly complain about the entire part of the game idea?

Now I understand about gamebreaking things, like if there is a quest chain being utterly useless they force you to do. Or instance isnt possible to go through. Or the fact that warriors isnt possible to queue as tank, things worth discussing in a smart way, not "I cant queue as tank! "random game" is better, i wasted money, i want my money back (ENTER RAGEQUIT!)" ok extreme example, hope you get it.

Imagine though that YOU sit on the side of the development team, and sure... you see some negativity on the boards, but you're also curious what the intial feedback of your game looks like.

You have a vision, and you have ideas for the future that you may have already factored into future content, but the feedback helps you hone those ideas.  You sift the "general concensus" from the various rants, and you get a more clear picture of what your priorities are in your vision.

We can keep our fingers crossed that EnMasse is listening, which I have a feeling they are, and hopefully we'll see serious changes in areas that need it, like "warrior tanks", raid content, etc.

Agree to much of this. Disagree to a tad. I really don't want bluehole to stray from there vision. It will be to hard for 1 market to change from what Ktera gets. We will surely have some tweaks here n there but probably not that much of a different game grind wise. I think what people "think they want" sometimes isnt "what they need". We are probably very nastalgic about our old games that brought us into the light and glory that is high fantasy mmorpgs (my specific genre of favortism). Many things we surely loved may not be better for the game as a whole. I know certain things i like others dont and vise versa. If we all liked what i liked wed all still be playing EQOA or vanilla WoW (eek i said it).

My biggest hopes for Teras future are:

More pvp options. Especially for those of us on PvE servers. BG will be nice in the summer. I will still be here for them so that will be fun.

Expansive outdoor raid content. This engine handles large groupings so well it really needs some outdoor areas for 2 reasons. For the pvp players to have something raid worthy on the outside to fight over (not including world bosses which are to random). Also for the PvE player to have another HUB to meet up with players for alternate dungeon/end game type content. Thankfully this is something that Tera is focusing on and maybe thats why i have such blind faith in this game.

Warriors to be implemented as queable and legitimate tanks for all circumstances. How this would balance in pvp i have no idea.... I just talk and stuff i do not code games but in my mind warriors could just get some kind of bubble or something between dodging to balance tanking skills since they lack block? :) (i will never play a warrior in this game but i feel for you warriors)

Very limited skill changes. Many complain about this game not having enough skills and rotation possibilitys. Well i think thats the entire point of this games combat. TACTICAL. Being rooted is not dumb. Its intended for a reason. It is not to make you mad. It is to balance combat and make it challenging. All games have rules, these are Teras. I love them. <3

There is a lot more id like but thats really not my main hopes. I love pretty much everything else this game did. Sure its themepark. Sure i prefer sandbox. For some reason i just feel lucky to play this game. If en masse wasnt formed to bring this to the states I would have missed something that will be a huge effect on what i find enjoyable in the future. Dozens of Action MMORPG are coming or being developed. Such a large amount of new developers are adapting collision type combat like this now. It has me so excited for our future!

If Tera failed in Asia, what makes people think it will be better in America?!    Just makes no sense why they even bothered bringing it here?   To rip people off I guess.

Not every market is the same? Not that you really wanted a reasonable answer, but I figured I'd toss that out there.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
