Lol this forum.
Tera is a great game. I havent been able to put it down. The PvP requires skill. The PvE requires skill. The graphics are beautiful. The game runs great with a good engine. The armor styles and weapons are nice and well done. It requires teamwork and finesse. You can enchant, crystal, and even customize your gear. You can run and be elected as a Vanarch and have quite a bit of control in your province. (there are several)
I honestly do not understand what kind of game it will take to impress you people. Out of the handfuls and handfuls of games that have been release in crappy unfinished unfun uninspired conditions and you are going to start hating on TERA already?
Whatever.
I havent played GW2, nor TSW. I will probably buy and play both. However, i will confidently state i will be paying my first month on Tera and probably many many more. I even leveled and zerker and rerolled because of a few issues, no im not playing a slayer, and i still love the game to pieces. Sorry to hear, and a bit suprised, that so many of you dont enjoy it.
My server is packed with people and the newbie areas are so packed you have to wait for mobs.
I think half of you are just full of crap trying to put another shadow on another game, but this one doesnt deserve it. If the NA publisher or whoever keeps the game updated, which i think they will, i think some of you will regret sitting this one out. In a year it will be harder to level up on a PvP server, keep that in mind.
Once again, this game is a-fuggin-mazing. Give it an honest shot.

It's just the way the forum is, forums only represent a small population anyways, don't take any of it too seriously.
Even if the population in game declines, i'm having fun now and if i'm still having fun I don't care. The only thing that erks me is when people call it a f2p game. No matter how much you dislike it, calling it a f2p game makes you sound like a complete fool.
playing either may change your tune... TERA is an ok game i'm playing it now but could really be so much more.. guess I'm just an old MMO vet tired of the same ol but either way there are still a lot of shortfalls to TERA and i think after month 1 the sub count will show this
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Peopls tastes and preferences differ, and opinions change over time. If u like TERA, than its good and that should matter the most to you. And here, there is no universal hate of TERA if u haven't noticed. There is a lot of mixed opinions, like for most other games.
Ya having played GW2 i won't ever go back to the standard questing system i have nothing against tera i am not a wish game 'whatever' bombs kinda guy. Combat systerm does seeem interesting but questing system is a deal breaker for me. GW2 dynamic event / renown hearts system really showed me how silly it is to try and find all these peices to fit together just so the game can give you permission to do what you want ( raid) and the peices being class restrictions. No reason you should stop playing Tera if you like it , dumping tab targeting is an inovation after all
Overall I enjoyed Tera when I played the beta. I did not buy it and sub for one reason. The quest and grind part of the game reminded me too much of the f2p models.
The combat is challenging and the engine runs really well even in crowded areas. The graphics are great and the world is well developed.
The pvp is fun while dueling, but the zerg/ganking style that most people adopt is a drawback for me. Most of the time these people are trying to kill you while you are fighting mobs and there is no real purpose for it at this point. I prefer world pvp in situations like territory control or other purposeful mechanics where the rewards can benefit a faction or race for doing so. Random killing for no other purpose then allowing someone to get kicks is just not fun for me from either side.
Tera did remind me a great deal of Aion when I played it. There are differences of course, but the general feel for me was similar. After my beta time was up, elected to pass for now. TSW is calling me. The genre is more appealing to me at the moment. GW2 is on the horizon based on the pvp model. Fighting with a faction in an ongoing war with purpose and rewards has caught my attention.
My conclusion; Tera is not bad, it is just not interresting enough for me at this point in time. If the other two titles I mentioned fail to draw me in then I might change my mind. That there is the nail on the head. Tera places third on my interrest meter.
Great to see positive threads, I do not understand people who dislike the game to bother staying in the forum and write negative things for ages. Generally if I dont like something I dont bother to give it a time of day, but people are different , we just have to learn to ignore em it may help them in some way, and obviously there is a lot of dissapointment there.. dissapointment that the game is not what they had hoped.
@OP
You're really happy wuth the pve? It couldn't be more generic if it tried. You use exactly the same techniques to kill every single mob. There's no reason to vary what you do once you work out the most efficient rotation.
The dungeons are exactly the same. Tank gathers up aggro, healer heals from the back and dps faceroll mobs. You just run from one room to the next.
I agree it's all very pretty, but it's pretty standard graphics for a korean mmo style.
I see you rerolled from playing a zerker. If you'd been such a fan of skill and challenge you would have stayed zerker. But you're probably playing a lancer now or sorc?
Armour styles and weapons? My slayers weapon hardly changed in appearance through the first 30 levels. It was ridiculous. I would pick up 'Ash ridden greatsword' (or whatever), and it was almost identicle to my 'Solar flare destroyer'. They may as well have named it Greatswords 1-100. They all looked the same! I was in the city and saw some level 60, and his greatsword looked almost as dull as my one. I didn't hold out much hope. Having one fixed weapon the entire game is a poor poor move. The armour seems to change a bit every 10 levels or something.
Don't worry though! to get a different looking weapon you can pay 10 bucks in the gameshop. Really? Why not put that shit in game.
The horrible horrible Pve grind, the limited weapon choices and the introduction of a cash shop so soon after release (which says ; Hey, we know we limited you to the same basic design the entire game, instead of introducing new weapon looks we're going to make you pay for them) kills the game for me. Also in Tera...levels>gear>skill and gear is the biggest grind of all.
It is interesting how people percieve the same game so differently. I have fun in combat still, started in closed beta, so it is just different opinions. Not saying it wouldnt be amazing to have different armorstyles everytime, but they would probably then be less of a difference and not as beautiful and well done. One or the other.. I choose a lot of work going into a EQ it will look like I wear for 10 lvls.
I really enjoy just playing, dont fuss over the details that much in the game im too busy.. but you know, different playstyles and interests, i understand you write this out of dissapointment. I hope you find a game that fit you better GW2 maybe? ^^
Just taking a look at his post history, it looks like he's been plugging GW2, and bashing TERA for some time now.
Honestly, if you've hated the game since the free beta that you didn't have to pre-purchase the game for, then it begs the question: why are you still playing it? Or... is your post just more GW2 fanboi BS?
OP, you are giving to much importance to general haters, dont do that because that is exactly what they want, just ignore them.
its like a hobby for them and they are in every forums, TERA, GW2, TSW, SWTOR, etc.....
There is some cool discuss about games around, we just need to learn how to filter wich posts worth our attention and wich ones are to ignore.
Have fun
He's not playing it, that's apparent because he says DPS just faceroll mobs, hah, melee DPS are the most likely to die because monsters have absolutely ridiuclous AoE. Saying it's all just tank holds aggro and dps faceroll couldn't be any more from the truth.
Not to mention he said it's standard graphics for a korean MMO style, alright, well, he can name the MMO with better graphics.
Heh, yeah, I'd imagine anyone that gets the impression that they're just "facerolling" with a melee class in TERA must have some damn fine Priests or kick-ass Mystics running with them.
or their below lvl 25 xD
im with Aerowyn, and as an old vet i dont think even tsw or gw2 can hold my intrest enough. even tho im planning to give guild wars 2 a shot. my eyes are on next year and with elder scrolls online plus maybe archeage aswell , for only with something different kill x and gather y is not what bothers me. 3 faction pvp will bring something i long for.
Well both gw 2 and tsw have 3 faction pvp
Saved for posterity
True, but TERA is suppose to get 4 way server vs server battles in the summer, if i'm not mistaken. And with action combat, it's even better than WVWVW and Warzones. That is, if the map design has some kind of strategy requirements. Both of those earlier 2 will have the traditional RVR style, so it remains to be seen how TERA will use it's large scale pvp.
This is all speculation, the only thing we know is coming is battlegrounds.
Spot on OP, Having a blast in TERA. Awesome game play and the pvp is something new.
I won't be needing GW2 for a long time.
really depends on which combat system you prefer.. personally I don't find TERA's to be the more exciting one yet..
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Fair enough. Sorry, i just got carried away there. You're right, it's a matter of opinion, but it is going to be interesting with that kind of combat system. Also, like i said, the map design will play a big role to make it goodor not.
@Pivotelite: Thanks for the clarification. I always tought that svs was coming along with the BG's for the summer. Guess i misread. It was announced almost a year ago after all.
yea and from what I heard this was a big reason they were pulled them in the first place.. hopefully they will not just be like Rift's where it's basically the same the every single time.

Lol, quite the circle jerk.
You're telling me in the trash mob rooms between main bosses in dungeons it's not a faceroll?
Anyways. Why do you keep bringing up gw2? I never mentioned it in this post.
I failed to see you give an answer to any of my issues. You're apparently completely happy with no weapon variation. The cash shop introduction for different weapon looks. No end game or pvp purpose.
I keep seeing 'But they're going to have server vs server! or a floating island! or this or that! Honestly, if it isn't in the game now, I don't care. There haven't even been any patch notes about it. I don't see it in the korean one, so why would it be coming out here? Until it's set in stone it's not happening. Server invasions? lol, I can see pve servers loving that.
You don't even have battlegrounds yet!. When you do though....that will be the death of open pvp. It also seems the only point of bgs are for the vanarch of that guild to gain points? Or am I wrong?
Wait what?
Since when were trash mobs supposed to have complex mechanics, who the hell doesn't just smack around trash mobs, although the ones in TERA do hit pretty hard sometimes.
Also as far as trash mobs go, TERA doesn't have that many, and if theirs a lot it's huge sums of minions that are fun to slash and bash through.
I didn't bring up GW2.
Weapon variation is not possible like you'd want it, each race already has very varying animations. So you've got 8 classes weapons that need to be animated for each race. That's already an annoying amount of animation, but to make weapons practical you'd need to make the weapons animations not only different for each race, but each class now as well? So that warrior sword would now have to be animated differently if used with a berserker and even more specifically a castanic one, now do that for every race/class combo in the game and every weapon and they've got a millenium of animating on their hands.
Not only that, but the weapons themselves have hit boxes, and that is why I said animations would need to be changed if classes could change weapons, a warrior sword just doesn't work on a berserker with the animations present for a zerkers attacks, because the sword is smaller and shaped differently.
In WoW whether you have a mace, sword or dagger it make no difference, because the weapon itself, does not have a hitbox.
Also yes, I like the class specific weapons, it's how it should be.
The cosmetic shop? No, I fucking hate it, but it's going to be in every MMO so get used to it, people are willing to waste money and a dev is stupid not to make the best of that. I can't count how many people i've already seen with the weapons, however most of it is just goofy stuff anyways, I'd never buy it.
There's endgame, nobody in all of TERA, NA or EU has even beat Kelsaiks nest hardmode yet and nobody has a +12 item, it's a grindy/hard endgame, but it's there, just like it is in WoW, people can raid for a month for a single item.
Open world PvP is good enough for me until battlegrounds come, some server hosted deathmatch tournaments are nice as well. Organized GvG happens rarely and mostly on VoT, but it's there.
I'm only taking the time to respond because i'm bored and feel like writing something up.
I actually do like some pvp so will be playing again when battlegrounds are implemented.
I also think this game is screaming for pvp battlegrounds and arenas to be a big focus. The combat system is really nice and boy do you know when you've hit something.
Its just a big shame the pvp lacks overall....
