Developers of the cyberpunk MMO Neocron 2 announced today that they are releasing a free upgrade. Neocron 2.1 will be available in Q4 2004.

Reakktor.com, developer of the futuristic cyberpunk MMORPG Neocron, announced today that they are developing a free upgrade for Neocron 2. The upgrade called Neocron Evolution 2.1 will contain a sizeable graphics package updating i.e. the complete vegetation of the game world and weapon models. There will also be major changes to the game engine, with improvements to areas like shadows, physics and collisions. The upgrade will be released in quarter 4 2005. Neocron is the world's only MMORPG that immerses you into a dense FPS-like combat/action cyberpunk atmosphere. Become a citizen of one of the last mega cities on the postapocalyptic Earth of the 28th century. Live exciting adventures with thousands of other players or just lead a normal life in this virtual world. |

screenshots anyone? I doubt it can make neocron any better but i still want to see what the neocron devs are wasting their time on.

screenshots?? pshh look at neocron 1 its same as neocron 2. except its vs each other. pro city vs anti city, then theres ally pkers. nothings ever new in this game, just constant repitition. But i would have to say the fighting vs each other cant compare to any other game, its just badass they should give this game to a new developer, IE: VU Sierra anyone else but the developers now. just plain crap
So let's fix an incredibly buggy game, with too little content, a virtually non existent storyline and too many assholes in the community by adding some graphics updates (bearing in mind that last time the did that they created god knows how many problems).
How about fixing the problems you've got before you create some more???

just google search for neocron screenshots. But ya they are pretty much the same graphics as in the first game. I STILL WANNA TRY IT!!
As per the usual tradition with Neocron, the link to the 10 day trial does not work and neither does www.neocron2.com. keeps sending you to the old neocron account page.... or is it just the 2 machines I tried it on

Neocron seriously needs a lot of bug fixes. Latest time I tried it with some friends, we had sync issues, random teleportations (I was just walking and suddenly I zoned in a total stranger's apartment), animation issues (walking on stairs and jumping are ridiculous), etc, etc. And some of these bugs exist since the initial release...
A graphics update should have been the least of their worries. I'ts quite sad that a game with such magnificent cyberpunk world is almost unplayable due to bugs and an exploitable skill system...
Currently playing:
* City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
* City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.
Effectively they screwed the game up by wanting to include storyline and RPG'ing, which it was totally not made for in the first place, BETA 4 of it was perfect, only crashed a lot, they couldve just fixed that, maybee added the rare weaps in, but at least kept it at that level of pvp, without the bullshit where u need to find a poker everytime you die, and the stuff to prevent all out op wars, such as genrep blocking, and safezones.

sad part is even with all it's bugs, slow do nothing devs, expansion that made the game worse, somewhat dated graphics; it's still 100x more enjoyable then all the little pussy games like EQ, FF, COH, WOW, SWG....
really? how so? Maybe youre the type that enjoys playing slow buggy games with inept developers and a playerbase of 200 or so players on peak hours. Altough i loathe all the games you listed, id play them over neocron any day. Hell i wouldnt even play neocron if they so paid me to.

well i play a mmo for p2p interaction (pvp!) and neocron pvp is miles ahead of any other mmo, even most of the completely anti-nc people admit that..
if you enjoy prancing about with elves and wookies in a endless grind to nothing then i'd play those games over it too. and click and nap is not pvp.
and dont give me any fanboy crap; i just cant stand the garbage that is every other mmo (basicly). if there was a game i could get more enjoyment out of then NC id be there in a flash. but if the game wasnt worth dealing with it's (many, ill admit that) problems; i wouldnt.
even the account creation page seems buggy. But i still must try this game.
Im not being the fanboy here kid. Personally i play eve online to satisfy my pvp and mmo needs, maybe you should try that.

I meant calling me a fanboy, a common title thrown at anyone who defends something they enjoy..
I've played EVE online, I'd agree it is the best other MMO out there right now; if I had the time to invest I'd probably have a subscription to it as well, it's quite well done. But the combat can't compare to the rush of NC pvp, i'm sorry

MH yes bugfixes are more important than a graphic update. But they fixed a big Problem with the netcode in the last patch. a first step on the right way.

Im not a fanboy. But i dont need Millions of players around the world to play a mmorpg and have fun. It has many bugs. But Reakktor is a SMALL company and doesnt have much money to pay many many Devs, Programmers or something else.
furthermore is Neocron a old game, not a new. Neocron 2 was not big enough to be a new game. Its a AddOn.
Life is a bad MMORPG.
But with good Graphics 0_0
