Hi folks,
I'm thinking of buying the game. But... I hear a lot of bad talk about Frogster. Is it possible for me to switch between EU and NA? And players from Europe who play on the NA server, how's the latency (especially PvP wise) ?
Don't want know hear if the game is good/bad, would like to experience myself. And besides, there are plenty of topics already discussing the quality.
Looking forward to your answers,
Chazer

Frogster? They have nothing to do with this as far as I can tell. I play the game fyi...
I am playing on the european servers and been watching the whole "failster" hating going on for a while. Been verifying some of the claims that the frogster haters did and they all were made up/lies or caused by the poster really not knowing what they talk about.
Personally I don't see a reason to not play on EU, the ping is better and the game the same.
Frgoster really are a horrible company and they're already running the game the game terribly.
Also, the community and playerbase is a lot worse in EU.
If you have a good internet connection, it'd be worth playing on the Us servers.
See what I talk about? They either make up stuff or they can't provide any examples/reasoning of why frogster is so bad.
Well lets see, frogester "sneak" preview for Tera back before cbt failed hardcore, than people got banned for entering their CD key before headstart and some of them were banned for a few weeks before it got resolved. Slow response to tickets, the whole thing that made Tera over there pegi 12. And also lot of people said they screwed over runes of magic but i never played it so I can't confirm that.
Let's take a quick look at your reasons:
- You tell people to not play Tera Euripe because Frogster had some troubles with some test a few weeks/months before the game actually went live. They fixed it before launch from what you said, so why would that affect anyone playing on EU?
- You mention slow support ticket handling even though that's not uncommon when a game launches. I stil remember waiting a full week for SWTOR support to reply to me with a canned response that had no relation to my question - and they closed my ticket with that useless answer. In the end they needed 5 tickets and 5 weeks until they *confirmed* the game breaking bug that stopped me from playing (but not paying). Frogster support answered my both of my two tickets right on the day that I created them - and actually gave helpfull replies. To me that looks great, not sure what kind of troubles you ran into?
- You mention PEGI12 but didn't mention why you blame Frogster for PEGI giving Frogster a PEGI12 certificate for Tera?
I didn't say don't play EU because of frogester, you asked for the complains people have against them so I just listed them out for you.
In comparison NA, EME, answer pretty much all tickets with in 24hrs, 2 days tops. Also have a 24/7 GM live support chat with GM that are funny and doesn't sound like a machine. So yes it might be normal for most mmorpgs but compare to NA its not even close. which is the whole point of the comparison here.
Because the game is rated M, it is rated M in NA. Froggester decide to aim for a lower pegi 16 and got a pegi 12 but than to keep the pegi 12 they had to remove the blood effect and it was done w/o any warning to the communty. I could expand but there was like a huge uproar about less than a month ago over the whole thing.
Yeah, you listed the complaints and I didn't get why the things you mention would make you accept your ping going from 60 to 155 (that's what it was for me) in an mmorpg where fast reactions are important.
As for support it sounds (from what you say) that Enmasse support is a little faster, but both reply same day usually. Personally I wouldn't trade a little faster support for a lot slower ping, but if you do, I won't complain.
As for the rating, Frogster asked PEGI for a rating and got PEGI12. Even if they went for 16 or 18, they would still have gotten 12. What people don't seem to understand is that the PEGI (and USK) guys decides on the rating, not frogster. Also the whole blood patch drama was completely childish. You should have seen the same few people making 100s of QQ threads where they claimed that a little less blood splattered on the screen (nothing else changed) would lead to Frogster removing many instances and other content from the game. One guy created 1500 crying posts over 7 days, crazy people.
Another thing that's relevant to this discussion. The US age rating is not comparable with the EU age rating. Why? Americans are scared of breasts and anything sexual. Europeans are scared of violence and blood. Personally I am surprised the PEGI and the USK rated the game for 12+, but they did and I surely won't blame Frogster for it.
With most MMO's I play on NA servers, so also with TERA. I have zero ping problems.
Where do you live and what ping do you have? That information would likely help the OP.
Oops, I just noticed that I only told about my ping going from 60 -> 155 when testing NA servers instead of EU server but missed mentioning the country. I am living in denmak at the moment.
Thank you for your information guys. Kinda going for the US I guess. Looking for some videos to get an impression at the moment. Anyone would like to share?
The best place to get feedback is to go to the EU community at EmE's forum site > http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/introductions/topics/EuroPlayers-Check-In?page=1
~best of luck to you~
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Nice!
Just to let you guys know, I took the chance and bought it from Amazon for $25,-. Seems I don't have any lag at all, so lets keep it that way!
I've no experience of TERA under Frogster but I did play Runes of Magic under them & I hated it, greediest game system I have ever seen.
If you want to just casually play through the game & only do open-world quest grinding it's okay but the minute you want to start doing any kind of dungeon or raid progression you will be in a situation where you either have to spend a huge amount of money to upgrade your gear constantly in order to progress or just flat out give up, the dungeon content is gear gated & if your gear isn't up to it you will not go any further, to upgrade the gear you have only one method & that's buying items - & a lot of them to strip stats from farmed gear to modify your own. It's a huge cycle of farm, spend, strip, upgrade, farm, spend, strip, upgrade & each new dungeon ups the ante so you need to have gear from the lower dungeons to even attempt higher ones - so only customers that pay a LOT of money into the game ever do any kind of progressive dungeon crawling. It's the very worst kind of split-tier game in my opinion, and the costs for even moderate progression would be far in excess of a regular sub.
That's the main reason I opted to not play TERA in the end, my poor experience of Frogster greed in RoM.
