    lol,yeah the OP with all good intent jumped the gun the actual pitch which was posted was a WIP,as usual due to constant communication with devs and the community it was still been finalised and presented and discussed by the community,and if u are still thinking this a conspiracy join the forums and check out the kickstarter thread.

    Sorry if I did jump the gun I saw this good stuff stuff that I read over and couldn't help not posting here since no one did it yet figure I would at least get the word out  :D I will definetely be donating once the Kickstarter offically starts and I wish you guys at Above & Beyond the best to delivering us a great MMORPG that people have been waiting for years now :D

    I am happy from what I read in the document espcially from your going to have a F2P model from the get go gets more people trying the game and the membership tiers I was kinda confused with that but does that mean a sub model as well? (if i read that right?) I'm more of a subscription guy if I can sub to get all the game has to offer :D

    I posted below the OP the Kickstarter hasnt offically started yet I did post original links to their forums and the document link as well sorry if their was confusion but I did post that it hasnt started just their inital pitch.

    We originally were planning on offering something similar to what EQ 2/LoTRO/AO was doing, where the game would be free to play with some locked content and you could either unlock it piecemail or do a subscription to unlock it all. We've sort of moved away from that though. We may still provide some type of monthly subscription options which give you package deals at discounts, etc for those who are interested in that type of thing though.

    Over the course of development we moved more towards a true free route. Where free players would have access to just about everything. There will be some locked features such as being able to form a Nation, or a Credits cap, but your main limitation is that you only have a basic set of inventory slots, character slots, bank space, and generated mission slots, etc. You can unlock additional slots of those through the store, and we'll likely have mechanics in place so that free players can earn the points to unlock them for free, but it will be a slow process. What the Membership packages will be are collections which already have those things unlocked and at a discounted price as opposed to buying them all piecemail. They will be a one time fee which unlocks them permanently. You could optionally unlock only the parts you want separately in the store, but it would cost more to unlock all of the options availabe through membership.

    Our main concern with the EQ2/LoTRO route was that if players subscribed and then decided they didn't have the money to keep subscribing, its very hard for a player to go from having optoins to having them taken away. Most players would quit at that point. One of the real advantages of being free to play is that you can play other games or get busy in real life and still log in now and again to play with your friends once in a while. And your doing that is beneficial to the game as a whole. So we really don't want to create situations where players felt the need to quit. Obviously players get burnt out on games, but we wanted them to feel like they could hop right back in and get to what they were doing before without any barrier of entry if that happens.

    Thanks for answering my question, glad that clears that bit up, one more thing and I'll stop with the questions in your draft it says its sandbox oriented but in the interview with Game Reactor with Josh Halls he says its a hybrid which would mean a sandpark MMO and not a pure sandbox are you making a pure sandbox or is it a hybrid?     Why does this game appear to have mundane 20th century slug-throwing weapons?

    The video shows a character firing what looks like an M-16/AR-15. That's B-movie stuff. I hope this was just an early shot, or some pooputt lower level crafting appearance.

    I really like what I see from this game except for the weapons so far.

    It's a sandbox first, but it also features theme park elements. The tutorial will drive you through the first few minutes of the game and give you an overview of features, but even most of it is purely optional. After you leave the tutorial and head into your starting city, it's pretty much your choice of what to do after that. There's no linear quest hubs or anything like that. The hubs will often be engagement focused or backdrop oriented (missiosn in that area may be themed in a certain way), but there is also a difficulty overlap in areas.

    But there is also a focus on providing players with things to do. You'll be coming across engagements quite often, which are like mutating public quests. And you'll have a constant supply of generated missions being offered to you through the in-game mail system. You don't have to participate in either if you don't want, but you will always have those opportunities. Different mission templates can be themed to different locations. They may be the driving force for some players. For others it may be crafting, harvesting, diplomacy, pvp, military or nation oriented stuff.

    There's a variety of weapon types, but it should be noted that many of them have placeholder graphics. One of those areas where Kickstarter will benefit us. In some cases throughout the game there are placeholder graphics which are meant to be replaced as things move forward. That having been said, projectiles aren't necessarily an out of date thing in the future.

    Personally I'm liking the weapon models I'm seeing so far, besides just look at Star Wars weapons. What were the majority of Star Wars weapons? Were most of them not modeled after existing earthly firearms? Sure some but not all  fired lasers and there will be lasers in Repop. Just look at Han Solo's pistol, its a Mauser C96 and was produced from 1896 to 1937. All they did was add a bell to the barrel and a side scope. Who in the world doesn't think Solo's pistol isn't cool? Star Wars modified many more weapons from what we consider antique firearms here on earth.

    Why does the future have to look like lame Star Trek weapons? I prefer they actually look functional.

Even the pulse rifles in Aliens are a thompson dressed up, so I agree with you, I just want escapism in this game without camp (I don't like the start trek look at all).     Bet I reacted much like you when I seen the video with what looks like a stock M16 stylish rifle. I was like huh, how far in the future is this game again? I even asked about in the official forum and got pretty much the same answer JC gave above. I thought ok, we'll see what all else they can come up with as time goes by. I really like the general direction the whole game is going in with looking realistic over "futuristic" overly cartoony plastic streamline Star Trek, Mass Effect, or SWTOR looking.

    My personal taste that's all, nothing to do but wait and see what they come up with next. I think it's good that so far all you found to question is the weapon designs LOL. That's a good start.

    Anyways, it's time for beer, burgers and home made ice cream....

    There are both laser and energy weapons for range, as well. Along with melee weapons, grenades and explosives/traps.

    Oh yeah, this game looks amazing. It's too early to make any judgments. On another note, I saw an update page talking about a new in game recipe for steak! That's pretty cool.
