Thats the biggest problem right there. If you spent your money only to test a game, youre doing it wrong. Noone paid for beta. You paid for the game, got the beta access for free as a bonus. If Anet was charging for beta access you would still have to pay them more money later when the game launched, and thats just not the case.
Anyone who thought beta was what they paid for need to get a life. You havent paid a dime for beta and they dont owe you anything. Take the time they give you as a gift, not a right.
You may deny it or be angry at it as much as you want - It still will not change anything.
There is no "one thing is sold and second is given" thing.
A.net is selling whole package. Game, earlier acesss and betas are all things that were BOUGHT.
It is not that it was given out for free. You had to pay money for this.
All of it - game, early-access, items and betas are product that people bought.
People will treat is as a right and rightfully so.

When you buy a new model of a car and distributor is throwing for example 'extra insurance from car stealing or whatever' for people that will order and pay upfront before premiere of said car - then this insurance is a paid service and a "right".

Not a gift.
That's really simple.
And then there is the cost to make the game to the developers. From computers, to paying staff, to facilities, etc.
It all costs money and that money has to come from somewhere besides investors.
So why not market a game early? Allow people the ablility to play and test the game early thru beta. Give these people a gift in the way of items ingame at game retail and allow them to start a day or so earlier.

Makes perfect sense.
Was not arguing for or against it.
Just was saying that by doing so, they are automatically turning 'beta weekends' into paid service and not a 'free gift'.
So people will demand and feel rightfully entitled in relation to those betas.

Maybe, but from all that I read prior to pre-purchasing the game they never at that time promised a schedule for the betas. They simply stated that we would have guaranteed access to any and all betas in future. Later, I found that they would try to have betas on a monthly basis, but I did not see any guarantee that there would be betas every single month like clock-work. Thus far, they have had two betas, and I have had access to both. So they have fulfilled their promise to me, and will continue to do so as long as I have access to any future betas (and of course, the other perks that were promised).

Yeah. Mostly agreed.
Still people will be (they already are) less forgiving, more demaning, etc
than in 'free' betas. Simply cause it is paid service.
I was just arguing point that betas are: "free gift and people should be happy they get anything and stfu" whcih is bollocks and simpy not true.

The OP should really add a question mark to the thread title.
Wrong, Soon is owned by Blizzard. The next BWE will be When It's Ready.
