Forget it mate, World of Warcraft will slowly loose its hype now. Its a really fun game for a while but gets boring after a few months of play.

Eve Online, the truely current best MMORPG out, should be tops! Not that I play it anymore but it deserves to be top, its the only game out that has everything most MMORPG fans want in a fantasy game.

WOW and GW will slowly lower their rating down into the 7.8-8.0 range along with the rest of the major MMO's out. I suspect GuildWars will eventually drop down to the 7.6 to 7.8 ranking actually. WOW will probably level off at about 7.8.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Yeah something like that, but Eve Online is definitley going to be above WoW and GW aslong as its features keep becomming recognised by more players.

They're both dropping at a steady rate.  I hear people say they're simply playing WoW and GW until "something better comes out."  Bottom line... GW will probably always be one step ahead of WoW, but only because of it's lack of subscription fees.

It's been argued a thousand times, but the bottom line is; when you have a game with no monthly fees vs. one with $15/month, then you're always going to have a larger player base.  That should keep GW relatively higher at the moment.

Both of these MMORPGs will fail when a game comes out that gives players control of the game, player-built cities, player-governed laws and a dynamic world.

Right now no one in an MMORPG can actually change anything in the world (except for Shadowbane, which is the best MMO concept but the textbook example of horrible excecution). Sure in these mmorpgs the characters change (level up) but it's more like living on top of a world, rather than inside it.

well actually WOw took a hit when guild wars came out and fell a lot.  However, over the past...3-4 months WoW's score never dropped.  It almost didnt move, but has been increasing slightly.  Just last week it was at 8.2 now its at 8.3. and Gw was at 8.5! WOW IS MAKING ITS COMEBACK!

Oh and can someone reply to my post under it?  How can I load my Xfire stuff onto my signiture?

EVE Online is almost the worst MMORPG I've ever played. The tutorial lacks important information, the gameplay is tedious, the combat is boring. While EVE does have an awesome character creation system, the way you improve your character is almost laughable in its obvious ploy to get people to play longer. 3 hours to level up a skill 1 point? It takes 5 points to get a rank.

Yes I do know that you can level up the learning skills first and make your training time very fast but as I understand it this takes about 3 months. I don't feel like spending 3 months mining so I can actually play the game at an enjoyable pace. I heard it has pvp which is great...good luck getting to the point where you can be competitive though.

Oh my god....you are an idiot aren't you?

Just reading your post made me laugh!! What the hell are you talking about!??!?!??

This is Eve Online.....I don't know what game you are talking about.

You dumbass you never got passed the tutorial did you!...Big Mouth with your own bull!

The game concept is amazing.....you can do so much especially with a coporation.

As for the skills....you don't get them by playing over time....you just get them over time....online or offline, they don't have to be in use!!!!!!

Shows you didn't play the game at all so what right do you have to accuse it!!!!!

    1. Calling me an idiot in your first sentence did nothing for you but make you seem immature. Please try to refrain from that sort of behavior and refer to the terms and conditions for posting on this website.

    2.  I was referring to Eve Online as well. If your statement about not knowing what game I was talking about was sarcasm, please try to skip it in your responses.

    3. Wow another fantastic use of the English Language. This time you even decided to make an assumption that was completely the opposite of what I said I had already done.

Actually I did complete the tutorial, killed three pirates and mined asteroids for about 20 minutes before I got so bored I turned on the television.

    4. I am well aware of how the skills work and I honestly could care less about them being trained while I'm offline. You see I've been playing MMORPGs since Ultima Online and even then macroing was annoying, making it a feature of the game does nothing but make that annoyance more necessary.

Let me make my opinion very clear. I do not like your increase of skill level having absolutely nothing to do with what you do in the game. In fact I'm the complete opposite. I love MMORPGs where you get your "sword" skill up by swinging a sword.

I stick by my previous assessment of EVE Online. I found it boring and tedious. The camera angles were just painful and the combat was anti-climactic. It's perfectly fine if you enjoy the game, that's the great thing about opinions.

Now if you are going to respond to this post please do so with a little more maturity. You are an Elite Member, act like it.

Yeah true, sorry mate, I really was out of line....you just shocked me, thats all.

I have to be honest though, from what you said, you gave me a complete impression that you spent a max of 20 minutes on the game. Now I don't expect you to like it....I don't play it for my own reasons, but your reasons were horribly inaccurate.

Anyway yeah I am waiting for a game similar to UO....you know there is Irth Online, which is open beta and soon to be released if you want to try that. People are really enjoying it, and they say its a great replacement for UO. You should give it a try.

By the way sorry for being immuture and flaming your opinions, I don't know what came over me after reading your post. I am not usually like that....really sorry mate :)

You cna't really get a feel for most online games in 20 minutes IMO. It took me a good week to get a real feel for Eve personally (playing about 1-3 hours a day). If i gave up on every game i got bored at teh 20 min mark i would never have run a single WOW instance, EQ2 instance, FFXI BCNM or Dynamis...heck it takes over 20 min to get to the first mini boss in the old super mario 1 for NES. I find printing off the shortcut pages from online manuals helps tons with free trials, but i hate not having a manual in my lap for the first runs in a game. Not knowing how to do something off the top of your head can be a major fun killer.

Now for point 4 that is all opinion and if you didn't like the flow of the game, well eh, thats too bad. But, i am guessing it was atleast the free trial.

I enjoyed EVE Online when I played it. Although, I can agree with you; the learning of skills can be quite annoying. It would be like

"I'd like to fly this ship. Oh, wait, it's of a different race, I have to train that race of ships."

    or

"Hey, I want to use missiles. Huh? I already trained for missile launcher use.. What? Now I have to train to know how to use that specific missile type? ><"

But other than that, great game.

Anyway, on topic: I personally don't understand why GW is so popular. It's cool for a week, but then it's just boring as hell. At least, that's what it was like for me. And really, it's nothing but a copy of WoW. It has so many feature rip-offs, it's amazing there wasn't a law suit. :P (just joking on the law suit part) GW was a WoW gimp, and it was a gimp in general (Soooo many features missing), so it's a gimp gimp. LOL

Due to recent cutbacks, and until further notice, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off. †

I appreciate the apology and I was quick to judge EVE Online. I agree an hour of playing is not that long. I read a lot of reviews that said the best way to play EVE is to train up "learning" skills which take about 3 months, that gives you the best chance of doing the rest of your skills in a quick amount of time. Three different reviews said roughly that same thing. It was that combined with the lack of a first-person view or a third person "behind the back" view. The best I could do to get sort of an "off-center" view as if you are looking at the ship from a flank. I asked other players and apparently that was the best view available for how I wanted to play.

I loved the depth EVE had as far as number and types of ships, weapons, story, characters and setting. Now if only the gameplay had been more like a Wing Commander/TIE Fighter twitch gameplay with a Joystick it would have been amazing. The gameplay just wasn't what I was hoping for.
