Just ordered my new system for GW2 and other games.
An Alienware m17x laptop, with 3720 IB processor, a 7990M video card, 8Gb of memmory, 128GB msata SSD and 750GB HD, 1920x1080 screen.... thats a lot of power.
I just had so many coupons and other actions that i almost got it for half the normal price... That was just to much not to buy it.
Now let the games begin. (sadly i will not have it this weekend for the beta test, but then i can only play on sunday, so what the heck)

me with i3 2120 and hd6850 was already play smooth on stress test, with your system i think you will get a error of to much fps xDDD
i Don't like Alien because you pay for the name. But ya i like the Rig you will be good for Gw2 . more like to good haha,

I hate you.
Not just the name, but also the service (thats quite good by Dell) and espescially the build quallity, thats beyound any other laptop except Apple.
On top of that, with all the coupons it was much cheeper then comparable powerfull systems from MSI, Asus, Sager, Eurocom, Clevo.

why?
I am addicted in assembling my own computers, so I'd never buy a Dell. But I understand doing so for a laptop. Warranty, service and all. If you got it for half price, you got it for a reasonable amount.

lucky, well my first pc was a Alien too and i found a bit later i could have the same rig for 300$ less but maybe now its has changed,

No, I don't think that's needed for most people...
People that need those kind of chairs are probably going to burn out on any game very soon.

i really think for now depend very much on the cpu you have. i see lot of people with much more powerfull system than me and play with very low fps.
i saw report of people with i5 and i7 with very low fps on BW.
except on LA the rest of the game was incredible smooth. WvW, sPvP and PvE i try everything and reach lvl25 if i remember
Every single Alienware computer I have ever seen since Dell bought them out, was a peice of crap. Not saying yours will be, but I have yet to personally see anything but disappointment from Dell-Alienware. Hope yours works awesome and I just look like some Dell hater.
I dont see the hate against Dell. I have never been dissapointed by the dell laptop division. Build quallity is great, service is good, in top of the line products they use top of the line hardware.
The only machines that work better out of the box so far are apples.

Why? GW2 use dx9, you waisted monie.
It might also support DirectX 10 from what I heard in a Q&A.
There is a "renderer" option in the Graphics tab. It wouldn't make an sense to make the game only DX9 and have an option like Renderer: DirectX9

Because GW2 at high resolution max settings and mass events can use all power to maintain as high as possible Framerates.
On top of that, i am going to be using that laptop atleast 3 years, and there will e many other games that ill be playing during that game, whenever buying new hardware, i will look to the future, and not ony to my current needs.

Don't forget people that GW2 DX9 is just for Betaweekend they told the game will be DX10 at launch.
