So, I've been looking at the official The Repopulation web page and I am finding myself very intrigued. But, I'd like input on crafting - will it be fabulous and uber complex a la SWG? or will it be hideous and tedious and practically useless like every other MMO (with the possible exception of EVE Online where crafting, while on the one hand actually quite simple, is also incredibly complex and fun, but is also extremely dangerous due to EVE game mechanics - which, of course, adds more heart pumping adrenaline fun? Hulkageddon, anyone?)
I really like to craft, and have been disappointed with every MMO that I've tried it in - except for SWG. If The Repopulation leans in the direction of SWG crafting, and throws in a bit of the terror and anguish of crafting in EVE....I just might be in heaven!
What are your thoughts? what are the facts? Will SWG remain Krafting King? I can't be the only one who cares about crafting, harvesting mats and prospecting at the level of complexity developed in Star Wars Galaxies....

We're expecting to release a video centered around crafting in June. We need a couple of polish/ease of use features to be finished first, but it's the next video planned. A general summary of crafting though.
- Resources can be gained through combat or non-combat oriented methods (via Corpse Extractions, Harvests or Harvesters)
- Crafting recipes are learned by reading Books. The recipes themselves though only give a basic shell recipe. They call for generic Ingredients and Agents, which can be replaced with multiple different item types (similar to SWG). For example you could substitute a Tissue Sample with a Tissue Sample of any species. The species used would have an affect on the end result. Basically one recipe might have 50+ results depending on the ingredients used.
- Each crafting material also has a Grade (similar to a tier) and a Sub-quality. These vary based on your harvesting skills, the NPC or Node being harvested, and some luck.
- Each recipe has it's own mastery level, which is sort of like a leveling system specific to that recipe. The higher your mastery the better results you can produce.
- There is an events system that can occur during crafting. This will allow you to respond to things that occur while crafting, and the choices you make will affect the outcome.
- The combination of Mastery, Event Reesponses, Materials, Grades and Sub-Qualities are all taken into account when calculating the result.

Believe me when I say there is a small army of orphan SWG crafters dissecting every aspect of this crafting system. It can't be a clone of SWG but so far it looks like it can be just as rewarding.
Also your going to have to take your wimpy pathetic crafter into hostile territory to get your resources so drink your Redbull and wear a jock strap.
