^This. One of my biggest complaints with awesome games that only have one starting area. The replay value is decreased drastically. I loved playing Rift when I did, but I felt it was to linear for most of the game, perhaps a couple more starting areas and quest hubs would open it up more.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Originally posted by Istavaan all there is to do in rift at end game is dungeons or instanced pvp..like every other themepark mmo. the quest system is the most horrible system i've seen. complete this quest to do this quest and continue following the chain..its ok if you're a mindless zombie and on top that 90% of quests are kill x of y.
lol priceless
I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
Too early imo, but I will definitely pre-order this. Dimensions sounds interesting and I am more than excited to go artifact hunting in all the new zones. There will be so much to do and see.
My big question is will Instant Adventure be available from level 50-60. Instant adventure made me stop questing on my alt toon once i was lvl 45. Hopefully the option won't be there. Yeah, I know I don't have to do it, but when there's an option that makes you level up way faster than other ways obviously you'll take it.
One thing to remember is, there was actually only 1 level 50 dungeon per say, All other dungeons got bumped up to Tier 1 and Tier 2 dungeons once you actually hit 50.
So all those people talking about wasted content, realize that the game could work the same way, once ya hit 60, all previous content has a level 60 Version of it as well.
Personally I dont see any problem with paying for an expansion.
The amount of dev time required far exceeds any patch, even a RiFT quality patch and they should rightly expect to be paid for it. From the little information that we have it's a proper full on expansion and will be value for money unlike other xpacs for games (cough EQ2).
I was just reading through the features on the official RIFT page, and I saw something I had actually written a very detailed suggestion for months ago, which is now being included. I felt kind of hopeful and excited all over again.
Really hoping for more souls. 1 new soul a class will not help role balance where it is sorely needed. Whats the point of all this new content when the class balance is a joke?
Also, really hope there are more features yet to be announced. The features listed isnt terribly exciting.
I mean, seriously, capes is a major bullet point? Capes?!
Trion is truly the best developer in the industry. This game has more content then any other game to date and they just keep hammering out more
You have never played EQ or EQ2 have you ?? Nothing comes close to them for content lol
True, but they have had a lot more years to generate it and SOE usually only gets out new content once a year, Trion has been doing it a lot more often and their game is not dated.
No surprise, fall 2012 in the likely release time for GW2, so both WoW and Rift getting expansions really isn't surprising. It's nice to see at least one MMO seems to fare good. Still after getting to max level it was done for me. If the expansion was now, I'd even buy it, but in fall I hope to be in GW2.

That is a bit excessive, is it not. And I'm mostly talking about the second part.
Not when you're on the payroll!

I dont even play RIFT, but they add more content and have more various things to do then any game out there, ok meybe not EQ1
EQ1 and EQ2 are way ahead of Trion as far as content releasing because of fast expansion cycles, but if this expansion does triple the size than the gap will be closed.
If this does come out in 2012 they have done what the game needs to survive and unlike conquest have actually addressed player wants.
Housing + tripling land mass = pure awesome
4 new souls is also a very welcome thing (battlemage please)
And the colossus the interacts with the world in different ways sounds like a step towards amiking the dynamic content actually dynamic and closer to how it was initially.
Runes of Magic also has a lot more content than Rift. I left RoM to play Rift and went back after about 8 weeks. I had run up 3 different chars to max and got bored when the only thing left to do was crawl the same dungeons over and over ad infinitum.

Easier to be excited about both equally haha...anyways, can't wait for a release date

So freaking excited for this!
Smile
My Hat goes off to Trion for this new upcoming expansion, they have stuck to Rift and its paying off.
/salute.

TRION is a new king of the hill.............
Comparing the quantity of content from two MMO's that have been out for over 8 years to one that has been out for a little over 1 is asinine.

Still misses something though. I'm thinking story...
Though, I grew up playing Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. So maybe that's why I feel the story is lacking.
Maybe it's just cause Warcraft (the IP) was my first love.
