With the new games coming out such as World of Warcraft, EverQuest II,Horizons and the other ones, which one do you suspect will be the best?
Everyone seems to say Horizons for some reason maybe i'm missing something, but for me personally, I think EverQuest II will be the best game. EverQuest II has had so much success from their original they have the money to afford a great team to work on the game, and it really shows with their graphics. I checked out all the games graphics. Horizons (nothing special) World of Warcraft (nice graphics with a cartoony look which is very interesting) but when i saw the videos that are at www.everquest-2.com the graphics knocked the socks of me! The forests, the monsters, the dungeons and the dragons breathing fire looked absolutley amazing. The water effects were the best i've seen, also the shadow effects. And when a monster dies, such as a dragon, it collapses to the floor making a rumble, and dust from the ground actually leaps off the floor.
Although it's only graphics, other aspects aren't able to determine until beta, but my odds are that EQII will be the best. Check out the videos at the site, and i want to hear oppinions on what you think will be the best game.

Looks aren't always everything. Look at Asheron's Call 2. Great example.
As for what's going to be the best "new" MMORPG out next year. I will say World of Warcraft... Murt will say EverQuest II, JJ will say FFXI, etc etc.
Each person has their own unique taste... I would highly suggest reading up on all of these games to figure out what YOU like.

Well, graphics wise, Everquest II might beat WoW. But Gameplay wise, WoW will emerge tops. You didn't think Blizzard won tons of game awards worldwide + Game of the year awards for every game they've produced for nothing eh?

I would say WoW as well, especially after some of the screenshots, but I also thought SW:G and The Sims Online would be huge. If MMOG success is measured not by initial sales figures, but by ongoing subscriptions, then TSO is a HUGE flop and SW:G is sliding quickly out of its honeymoon phase into flop history. Caveat emptor. It seems like everything Blizzard touches turns to gold, so if they do it right and learn from the mistakes of others, like not selling the game while it's still in early beta (yes, I have a specific Jedi themed game in mind), they will have a winner, but nothing's for certain.
I'm excited about Horizons and think it will be one of these dark horse games that culls a respectable and loyal following, kinda like AO. It won't sell like Star Wars: Crapaxies did, but it will do OK and become a solid MMOG player.
The fact the Raph Koster has his hands all in EQ2 oughta scare the pants off of anyone who is looking forward to that game (me included). Raph is responsible for some of the goofy decisions that have crippled SW:G like single character servers and "force-sensitive" slots. This guy bungled SW:G and now they've given him EQ2? Someone is blind w/o a cane over @ SOE. I guess they're just looking at initial sales numbers without realizing that a boxed turd would sell if you branded the Star Wars logo on it. Come to think of it, a boxed turd is exactly what Raph and company sold.
One thing I read about recently that looks really cool AND has a pedigree is UXO. The dev team has been working in a good amount of secrecy, which has kept the release pressure off. It also sounds like the dev team is not getting all bunged up over silly little play balance issues, or at least not letting them get in the way of fun. I'm not sure of the release date, but UXO is definitely worth a look.
Speaking of Ultima, isn't Garriott working on some new uberMMOG? What's it called again?
NC > DAoC > EQ > UO > fecal matter > leper's oily rags > SW:G

I'm another one whose vote is for WoW, but if they make the game is only 10% PvP (as I've heard) then I'll be pretty disappointed- but I'd still play.

As for now I will go for Horizons simply because it is the first to come out and the concept sound fine to me.
EQ2 will go the forcegroup way leaving and 1-2 hours solo window open per day and that only thru Quests. In my expierence forcegrouping can get very stainious at times and repetitive solo questing is not what I call soloing. So sadly this graphicaly impressing game will not be me cup of the.
WoW. Dunno why I am sort of sceptical of this one. It may sound stupid but when I think of WoW I see the hoping gait of the WC3 amintions before me that is quit offturner for me. Appart for that prejudice of myn it could turn out to be a game with no edges making it an longtime game.
But the MMORPG's I am really waiting for are Dungeons & Dragons Online http://www.turbinegames.com/products/index.php?section=dnd and Lejendary Adventures http://di.gamepoint.net/lejendary/en/ with Gary Gygax working in the team. For all who don't know this name he was the creator of Pen and Paper AD&D.
Since it is a long way until those are released fill in the time withCity of Heroes(looks like online Freedom force), Linage 2(just curious about 4 million subcribed Koreans) plan B would be Dragon Empires, Mythica which both look nice to.

Light laughter and sweet water to you fellow adventures.
Horizons has been in make since about 1999 and has had a grpahics revamp so basically for a game in make since 1999 the graphics is great.
Horizons team are also a dying breed.I mean the type of people that actually make games they would love to play themselves.
Though they made some cutbacks on originally planned content.
Also it is coming out very soon and i am tired of sitting around for many months/years waiting for THAT game to come out and be dissapointed .
I will play them as they come out.
EQ2 looks best so far even amongst those just announced(wish looks good but few shots i seen of it EQ2 better).
However if you look at EQ2 ideas a lot resemble DAoC ideas.
WoW looks like all blizzards games so yes you will have a cartoon look.
WoW atm is a lot of hype but they are new to MMORPG and will not find it as easy as many think.
Plus if other blizzard games are anything to look by and add the usual delay MMORPG factor it seems we be in luck to get this game in early 2005.
EQ2 is going to be nothing special. It will be released as a incomplete product just like everything else in the EQ world that SoE has put out.
My money is on WoW.

Notice all the people who think World of Warcraft will be good.
Blizzard has a lot of people behind them on this one... if they mess this up, it's going to go down in history.

I just stumbled over some UXO interview which made my heart laugh I was not very interessed uptoto now in UXO but after reading that interview I only can say that the direction of my taste.
Interview by: Daniel Yu - Quote,

One of the things we discovered with Ultima Online is that even highly social players actually spend more than half of their time in the game soloing. While it might seem like an unusual thing to want to provide a single-player feel to a massively multiplayer offering, we believe it actually fits in well with activities of most players.

WoW has done some great games but none of them have been MMORPG's. EQ on the other hand has had huge success on their first one and improving on that with greater graphics, player and guild housing, boats for transportation, so you can't really expect it to be an utter failure. Although i am on EQ's side, i sure hope just one of the 3 turn out great, i need an MMORPG to play! .
(BTW Murt, imagine playing EQ2 with a T3 connection, alienware computer, and 3D glasses! Oh boy that would be amazing .)

Richard Garriott is currently working at NCSoft (Linage) they wana sort go big publishing a game every 6 months they got the money and they tech and Tabula Rasa is in line. But here a qoute that interst you more prolly.
GameSpy: So can you talk about Tabula Rasa, on record?
Richard Garriott: A little bit. It'll be a little vague, we're only one year into development of a three year project. We're definitely in full production, the tools and technology are in place and we've finished the three major components: the editor, which we'll continue to expand. We now have the full ability to build worlds and maps. We've finished the client, the render pipeline and the communications, and the server back end. Literally today on all the desktops across the company there's a little icon you can click on and you can run around and play the game. Of course, right now there's very little game behind it, there's very little artwork.
