The trial runs great, is that an indicator for the mainland though?

Heard a lot of storys about this game needing a beast of a pc to play properly. So far the trials running smoothly on my blunt edge pc. (even when in a window which supprised me :) )

However theres v few players on the isle, theres lots of walls etc so the view distance is low and theres no really heavily built up areas. In short i'am worried that if i decided to pay for the game i might suddenly find myself unable to play when i move to the mainland.

p4 1.7
geforce 3 200 ti (128 meg)
640 meg ram (pc 800)

side question can i be a fulltime crafter if i wanted to be? love the system so far.
and is it possible to be 100% self sufficent or do you always have to buy items like coal etc.

I'm not sure about system specs, if you're running the trial well, I'd bet you won't have a problem. I would upgrade ram and stay out of Willow Wood at peak times.

As far as full time crafter: It would be very difficult. The problem would come from harvesting. In order to make things you have to harvest. T2 items are harvested from the Thundering Stepps or Nek Forest. This a zone for levels adventure levels 20-30, so if you were level 4 adventurer it would be tough surviving in there.

You could buy your resources from a broker, but if you can find what you want, people will expect you to pay between 5-25sp per unit (totally rediculous).

So while yes technically it is possible, I don't think anyone's been able to do it without an adventuring alt.

I got it for $20.00, and I'm having a blast so far, even if I haven't made it off of newbie island yet.

I'm running it on a P4 1.5, nVidia 5200 (128MB), 1GB RAM, cable modem and it runs fine.   No lag whatsoever.

I'm even thinking of doing the station pass, and checking SWG again after 18 months ...

here's a cool link for noobs:

Unfortunately you are correct to question the difference in system requirements between the Isle and the mainland. The difference is night and day back when I had a system near your specs. Honestly, you really need to upgrade the memory to a gig or higher to get through Qeynos without the most painfully slow and choppy experience in gaming ever. Willow Wood, as the other player mentioned, will be at a crawl during peak hours. I made the mistake of being a wood elf with 528 ram and I quit playing after a month of frustration.

However, all I did to bring my system back up was upgrade from a AMD 1.7, and 528 RAM to an AMD 2.8 and 1,584 RAM and I can boost the graphics up to balanced without seeing the kind of horrible choppiness as before. My video card remained the same old Geforce FX5200 128 and works perfect. (Just don't upgrade to the new 77.77 Nvidia drivers in case you haven't heard. Your computer will just randomly restart while playing EQ2 with those drivers)

Hope that helps man. Don't want you going through the same frustration I did, because while it's not unplayable if you stick to certain areas of the game, there will also come times where you are forced to go through Qeynos and you'll go crazy just trying to get anywhere with that amount of memory. You might be ok with the processor speed, but not sure on that one. I've always heard its memory that is the biggest factor with EQ2.
