race and job advice?

i read in another thread that finding groups was easier if you had a job that was in demand. so i was wondering what are the most uncommon races and jobs

and is any particular server recommended?

yes u r put in a random server but if u know a person on the server it is possible to get a world pass so u can join the same server. this is just to balance servers out. I think it is a nice idea cause then servers wont get like the WoW servers.

OR just keep making characters and deleting them to move into a different server that you want to be in thus letting them keep their money -- If it's your first time on a first character, have them buy a gold worldpass.

Well, i play Final Fantasy XI and the only advice i can give you is not to think of what job to choose in a matter of "which one is most demanded". Choose the race you like the most and the job you prefer.

You can have in mind starting a job that you would like to work as a subjob in the future. Subjobs work like this, lets say you are a Samurai lv50 as mainjob and a Thief as subjob. Even if your Thief job was leveled till 30, when used as a subjob, since the main is only 50, the subjob will be capped half of the main job so.. samurai50/thf25

Subjobs help by giving extra stats depending on the job chosen for subjob, you can also only have a subjob after lv18.

You start only by chosing 6 jobs warrior, thief, red mage, black mage, white mage and monk. I dont consider them exactly high demanding, so you see, demand will come when you actualy have a higher level and are kinda known as a good player. Learning how to play your job is the way :P

FFXI has times, sometimes people are looking for white mages, sometimes for warriors. It depends alot on what jobs players are currently leveling at the moment since you can level all the jobs and change which job you will use anytime ^_^

Other thing which is known is that the race Taru are very good for white mage and black mage since they have the highest MP rate which is used on magic. Elvaan seems to be the race with lowest MP, so they need good gear to get them that MP that lacks from their stats. But its all a matter of simply playing what you like the most ^_~

Leveling in FFXI is hard like hell, from lv10 you'll need parties all the way, so you can pass many time without leveling if you dont know where to go or what to do. The party seek system in FFXI is great ^_^ though

    Well, I play in Gilgamesh :P Samurai 32/Thief 16 ^.^

i suppose i'm just having a hard time chosing really and so thought it might help my decision.
the only race i wouldnt like to be is Elvaan, and the only starting job i'm not interested in is Thief.

hmm.. i suppose i'm leaning more towards a monk or maybe a mage

Ive play(ed) FFXI for a while and I can honestly say choose white mage if you really wanna get into stuff more.  Parties/missions/quest the whole lot.  Though personally I dont think its the most fun job roofles :P  But yea you'll definately get party invites quite easy to about 60 maybe? I'm not sure, but I know towards the higher levels Japanese people arent so keen to ask yo to join there party.  But yea I guess it depends what time of the day you play.  But yea to answer your question go Taru/white mage if you wanna get invites.  Though on the other hand black mages are insanely awesome towards the higher level since they can kill the quickest.  Not something I know particularly to well but my brother got his BLM to 70 and his WHM is 75.  But once you get to lvl30, you can choose your advance job and if you want to get party invites literally every single minute even when your not seeking go bard.... They are the most invited job in the game and chances of ever seeing one seeking is rare.  But yea... Tarus are also tooooo adorable so blah choose em.

If you want invites go with a white mage, black mage, or warrior. At least that is how it worked about a year ago when i played. Parties want white mages because they can heal the party which is a must. Black mages are for dealing large amounts of damage fast. And warriors have a skill called provoke which makes the monster that the party is attacking focus on the warrior thus giving the white mage only one person to deal with and freeing the black mage to cast spells without worry of being attacked.

As for races you want to have a taru for mages probably because they get the best stats for mage classes. And for warrior you'd probably want a galka if you are going for the tank/damage absorbing type or hume/elvaan if you want to become a more dmg dealing class later on.

I havent played in about a year but i played it alot when i had an account so someone please correct me if i am wrong.
