[POLL] Who will refund GW2 after summer?

DragnelusDragnelus Member EpicPosts: 3,503

We all want to play the game, all are hyped. But can GW2 hold us that long in their grip, like puppets on a string, with our money? Btw this isnt a debate wether its wrong or right!

Cheers!

Such a bad poll, no option to vote for people that havent pre purchased.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Nah I've already been waiting for several years so a bit longer doesn't matter. Also the money doesn't matter to me, it's already paid, gone and means I don't have to buy it when it comes out because I'm sure I'll play it that's why I pre-purchased in the first place.

  • cronius77cronius77 Member UncommonPosts: 1,652

why even bother to refund anyways when you can just login whenever without a sub fee? If you dislike it at first wait a few months and see if anythings changed. I voted no...

Is there a point in refunding? I wish there was a vote down feature for some ridiculous posts and polls

Nope. I prepurchased knowing well there is no release date. I also funded several Kickstarters that I won't see for at least an year. It's called knowing where you spend your money...

I just wanna see the facts, like you can see some voted No not me tho. They will release it before summer ends.

Anyone who could answer this question and answers yes is suspect in my mind, as they should have already made a decision about refunding (based on if they really didn't like the game).

The game isn't going to release this summer, and I REALLY don't see how demanding a refund because a game is getting polished and improved heavily before it is released makes sense...Most people LIKE that the game's release date is "when it's ready".  We may want to have it now, but we want the game finished...Anet wants the game finished too, and the betas are a good way to help satisfy both sides desires.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

I haven't been waiting for it for years, though I heard about it. I actually have things to do this fall... plus I would be upset they wasted the summer. I will cancel if I hear any release dte around then.

Refunding it silly at this point, all you're doing is potentially jumbling your chances to link your accounts later on when, if you decide to play after getting a refund, you now have to make a whole new account to do it. Not to mention chances are, even if you do refund, you'll just end up rebuying it later. Unless you, for some inane reason, think they're going to turn around and abandon GW2 development just to keep your money, whether you're spending it now or 5 months from now irrelevant. You're going to spend it eventually anyway, so you may as well get some beta weekends out of it.

If $60 is really worth all this drama, people should reconsider where video games lie on their list of priorities and instead spend that money where they clearly need it more.

Are you sure? your post sure sound as it is with your on/off attitude, as if you were demanding to have the game before summer or you will redraw and ask for a refund, isn't it all this post is about?...

In any case in every situation you have your good and bad.

    - They gave us a kind of beta testing we are not used to, you stress test rather than test the game (week end rather than 24/24 test).

    - They included a lot more people since beta stage are usually closed and on invite and you have way way less people involved, GW2 have it semi open (to the pre purchase).

    - You got to play test a lot earlier because usually stress test is only one week end like a week or 2 before launch.

This obviously let them polish the game way earlier and in a more efficient manner.

So imo there is a lot more than can i wait or not? You should also consider the fact the game don't work on sub, but on box sale. And also consider the fact they probably wanted to avoid the hype train most mmo are about this last decade because you hear a dev team dreaming about their game rather than show it for real.

But ye probably a lot of people will have your attitude OP, but i personally find it very negative and not very smart to stay polite. If you really like the game let them do it properly, if they need few weeks more or even a couple of month, then be it. Mmo that are rushed out the window are pretty common these days, so why now ask a good game to get rushed full of unbalance, bugs and missing features? Look at all what they implemented this last beta, yet you have so many people asking to release the game just after the last week end, would it have made any sense for them to release it the last week end? clearly not.

Let them do their job, if you are impatient you just better not pre purchase then. Now the time is to test the game to help the developers make a better game, it is not the time for you to play the game yet. If you don't want to test the game, but want to play and only play, then wait for it to launch.

Gosh it is impossible to please you people. You cry when devs rush... You cry when they take it slowly making sure it is polished and finished.

OP Please get your refund now if you can, players like you ruin the games. Fotunately Anet will never change the when it is ready philosophy

Where's the option for "don't purchase a game without a release date if you're not willing to wait"?

Not even close imo. This kind of game sell millions of copies and the pre-purchase is about hundred of thousand the gap is pretty huge here.

What's with all these refund requests. When you buy PC games there are no refunds. If you bought GW2, you will not get a refund.

Bad poll is a bad. No option for people who haven't prepurchased (e.g. see results).

The fact you can have it doesn't mean you should abuse it, and certainly not use it to push developer to rush the development of their game.

This is pretty obvious, but you asked the question, so I am going to break down Butregenyo's post and explain to you what he is saying.

"Gosh it is impossible to please you people." - He is declaring himself as separate from "you people".

"You cry when devs rush... You cry when they take it slowly making sure it is polished and finished." - He is decribing what he means when he says "you people".  He is quite clearly stating he isn't whining about the game or its lack of a release date.

"OP Please get your refund now if you can, players like you ruin the games." - He doesn't want "players like you" to ruin GW2.  He obviously likes GW2 if you read his posting history.

"Fotunately Anet will never change the when it is ready philosophy" - He is saying that Anet is a company that knows what it wants and how to do it.  They aren't bending to the will of the loudest complainers just because they are loud, and they certainly aren't bending to the complaints of the few silly people who want the game to be released now, even though it isn't finished, because that would be fairly bad for the game's overall success.

That would be a no, he will not ask for a refund if they don't release before the end of summer.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

1 I wont refund, even if they say it will release in 2013. I will play it anyway at release date.

2 I just wanna know how many ppl will and will not

Puppets on a string? If you are upset you pre-purchased then cancel, its that simple. I'm gonna buy the game now or later, why should I refund when I know I'm gonna play the hell out of it when it comes out?

Also when you say things like you said, you can't turn around and say "whether its right or wrong". You already started it by saying it in a negative tone, which means you think its wrong. I'm just trying to figure out why so many people are crying that they don't want to pre-purchase and yet feel entitled to play in the betas.

What if you pre-ordered on Amazon and got the weekend beta key and all that good stuff :P

Depends on how good TSW ends up being post several month down the line and how close GW2 is to Neverwinter's release will determine if I go for a refund.  Odds are I wont have to worry about it because hopefully after the next BWE they fix Thieves and/or make necessary changes to certain other classes to make them more enjoyable "to me".
