Do you know many mmos that have independent USA / EU English publishers?

Aion EU Gameforge is months behind North America for ENGLISH updates & some say it's nornal, a lot of EU veterans are bored of waiting for updates. Lotro used to be published by Codemasters but is not longer.

Is this fairly typical with many mmorpgs?

    Pretty sure EVE is independant.

    There are plenty of games out there with international servers, thusly trumping any issue with one region being behind another in development... but yeah, typically a developer will look for publishers to handle each region and pay them a licensing fee and royalties. Bit of a cop-out.

    Cabal is an example of this. Korean servers, American servers and European servers all have different publishers. Some of these are 1-2 expansions ahead of the other.
