It is like every new game is a fresh brain. Beta to release is like you are screaming BRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINSSSSSSS and going crazy. Then a couple months later when you are just knawing on bones you move on. I have seen this all the way back to the Shadowbane launch (300k copies sold in a couple days, before the era of WoW). Will the cycle ever end or is this just how things are?
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

It is video gaming in general.
I played EQ 5 yrs, and there is no way I would stay exclusive to another game again like that. A person doesnt need to, as there are tons of great video games throughout the various sub genres.
Which is something I dont understand about folks that complain constantly about "there isnt any good games". Maybe to you there arent any, but there are a ton of folks enjoying themselves.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
Be the change you seek in the world.
I know a lot of people who buy MMORPGs just to play with friends even though other people have told them of issues the game has. I always view gameplay footage before buying a MMORPG. I backed down from many MMORPGs for the longest time. I almost backed down from SWTOR, one of the worst MMORPG experiences I had, but all my friends wanted to play it, because it was a Star Wars game, so I got on. The power of friendship is some potent stuff, which is why I think that people aren't doing mindless shopping. It doesn't take that much convincing for a friend to play a game with a friend. One person might be a zombie that watched a CGI trailer and saw a brand name to be convinced about playing a game, but the other person just wants to socialize.
Honestly i would never want it to end as really playing in a beta or such most of all a free or low cost beta gives players the ability to show what they like and experince it. So many players out there evade sme games without even giving the game a chance to show anything other than the shallow service fo it, i know many friends that till i sat them down playing sveral of the games i play hated the game by look or articles they read, but once they sat down they were hooked. There is really nothign wrong with traveling/tastieing/trying out many games, and also doing this if you are playing a specific game for awhile can help to make the game feel fresher or fun again. Till a gaming comp can make a world that constently year long changes and evolves with quests, npcs, content all changing as you play or finish events games will get stale (even sandboxes do it takes longer but there is always limits to creating fresh content.) making players seek a new game to satify them.
