Long time fan of MMORPGS

I've been a long fan of MMORPGS.  I do admit I've been out of the playing loop for a bit.  EQ2 sounds like the game that's for me. But...I want to be IMMERSED in another universe.  Does this game provide that? From what i've seen and heard about other games, ie WOW, they just don't cut it. What's up?

EQ2 is still quite new but it is vast.  You can easally sepnd weeks doing lore quests and learning about the world.  But as with most MMO these days it has fallen to the ADD crowd.

Personally, I don't find it as immersive as the original Everquest. They "fixed" things from the original at the expense of immersion in my opinion. But if you compare it to other recent MMO's it's probably better just because the graphics provide some amazing scenes. Outside of immersion the game is great.

What exactly do u mean by word IMMERSED? Is it content in general? Quests? Size of the world? Things to do?

If you are comparing these sides to WoW then IMO the world size in EQ2 maybe larger by 20-30%, im not sure becuase I havent played a lot of EQ2, not enough time for a casual player like myself.

The amount of quests in EQ2 seem to be greater, but WoW quests are much more fun, some are simply amazing and very funny, EQ2 quests tend to be more generic.

Content in general, hmm thats a tough one becuase so many things count towards "content" - so ill go neutral and say they are equal.

Trade skills are much more deeper and complicated in EQ2 then in WoW. In fact, they are so complicated that they scared me off and i abandoned them completely. Too many recepies, too many sub sub components (u gotta make an item A and B and maybe C from 2-4 components, then u make item D from A B and C and another generic component, and then u can make item E from D A or whatever combination ... as you see there is a lot of nested crafting and that tend to be tedious and boring to some, but extremely fun to others. Up to the taste realy.

    To summarize:
In EQ2 things tend to go slower so you have more time to "breathe" the world around you. In WoW you can go through things very fast so sometimes you miss a lot of fun in the process and you burn out fast. Note word CAN. I personaly went slowly in WoW, exploring everything, places, NPCs, mobs, quests. EQ2 falls a bit more into grouping category, but you CAN solo quite easily in both games.

Another thing, some people claim that WoW doesnt realy have much high end content. I cant very that becuase I think those people simply went too fast. I play WoW on and off casualy, and i have 4-5 20ish chars (max level is 47 but i retired him) and i havent reached high end level nor will i reach it anytime soon. Dont know about EQ2 because my highest is 25 (plus few level 5-10ish).

I like both games and id play them both if i had enough time :(

My advice, if money is not a problem, then try them both (not at the same time, so u dont waste free month)

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Are you community oriented enough for EQ2 would be a proper question. Most players arent.
