Some of its features definitely sound awesome and promising. Personally I'm just worried about it being very ... asian. I cherish sandboxes but asian games often turn everything in a grind of major proportions. I dread the thought what it will take (time and resources) to build even just the most basic stuff.

I really think OP might be overhyping with this thread.
Just some videos, a recent Korea-based facebook page, and a small tidbit of news about progress being made through some closed beta events. Too soon to tell, but the "sandboxy" elements have grabbed our attention. It's still only being beta tested in Korea.

This is a fundamental problem with many MMO gamers today.

So true! Spent days in SWG scanning down the top resources, planting harvesters, collecting the resources, all so I could turn out the best product. Master Droid Engineer, Master Armorer, Master Bio Engineer.
The crafting in AA looks 'easy', just very time and resource limited. It may break the MMO players used to setting their crafter to making 100 of item X and stepping away to make dinner, with millions of resources just a step away at the AH. Having to wait in AA for the trees to grow, watering them for best growth, then having to harvest them!?! Oh Noes!!
Just wait til they discover having to wait for the lightning struck branche rare spawn...

I agree.
Its also a huge contrubuting factor as to why games dont last longer than 6 months these days. You get everthing done way to fast and the game gets boring.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore) Now Playing: N/A Worst MMO: FFXIV Favorite MMO: FFXI
OP might be right but than again we do not know yet. However, I am betting to release in NA they are going to dumbed it down a lot from the Asian version since NA gamers are not really gamers per se like Asians are. You can see it on any of the fan sites people asking for it to be made easy, add instances, no FFA PvP all sorts of crazy stuff.
Publisher is the one that will determine how much they game it for NA.
It's a themepark with a lot of fluff and some sandbox elements.
Fluff is exactly what most MMOs are missing right now, and I personallly can't get enough of fluff in MMOs!
After reaching max level in an MMO I get bored to death with sitting in the capital city queueing for dungeons/raids, that's why fluff is just cool to have.
Just some awesome features I like about ArcheAge:
-Gliders
-Jail system (with a possibility to escape)
-Exploring seas
-Farming
-Open world PvP with consequences, like destroying someone's farm will leave evidence for the farmer to seek you out
-Houses and Fortress
-Sieges
-Open world, possibility of creation of village communities (like a guild village, each his own house, fortress in the middle etc.
Just some of the fluff I like about this game, and there's lots more.

Originally posted by coretex666 It would be nice to obtain a confirmation that the game will be released in the west.It would be nice to be able to finally touch the game instead of just hungrily watching videos. It is time for a nextgen mmo to step in the market...hope AA will prove to be one. Videos indicate it will
There was a recent Massively interview with the developers at E3 where they stated that they will definately be bringing the game to Europe and USA, but didnt put any timescales on it.... thats the best we've got so far
Massively: Can we expect to see the game in the West any time soon? We've got a decent-sized sandbox audience here that is constantly saying ArcheAge, ArcheAge... so when can we play?
Suk Woo Choi (translated): We are definitely going to service ArcheAge in Europe and America, and we have been meeting with major publishers. It's a question of timing at this poin
Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom
We'll see an AA booth at E3 2013. Still a long time to go, and not sure what they mean by 'introducing' (finished product or just a small preview with lots of work to be done)
The best games are always the ones we haven't played yet.
I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
The screenies look really nice but I just checked out the combat on youtube. Yes I know its in Beta but the art behind the combat is just too much like Manga. What's with Korean's and their freaking sword size?? What are they trying to make up for?
'Action' combat sucks balls.I prefer traditional combat in my mmo,if I wanted to jump around on my screen I would play a single player game like mario world.1 hotbar to choose to put skills isn't giving the player options or customisation its taking them away.

Too early to say but it has potential.

Its gonna be pretty epic thats for sure. A sandbox fans dream.
Im not a sandboxer really, but the amount and variety of features in AA really interests me!
Shame its gonna be years before its released in the west

Has anyone here actually played this game yet? I'm curious as to what people's hands-on experiences will be like.
There are people on the forums that have played the CBT. Check them out there is a lot of information.
No updates in months?
There's tons of confirmations so look a bit further than just this forum...
A wannabe sandbox at best.
It's a themepark with a lot of fluff and some sandbox elements.

This game has alot of hype and potential, well deserved to. I'm interested to see in what direction it goes, defnitely a game to look out for.

Hmm haven't read on much about Archage but from a first look at youtube videos it looks much like that game Tera except without the action combat...
Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.
Except that AA is a sandbox, while TERA is a themeparkish MMO.
Can't say I look forward to this much. What was it, Crysis engine? Who will be able to run it?
That they have other stuff to do?
