About Us

IGC is a multi-game gaming community currently hosting Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and a startup for Guild Wars 2.  We have members from all over North America and from all walks of life.  We seek mature adults looking for a home to game in now and into the future!  While we mostly play MMOs, there are many games we dabble in casually, such as League of Legends, Diablo, and other games in the RTS, FPS, and action-adventure genres.

We began as but a single guild in 2010, Neutral Impact, but with the launch of Rift (no longer hosted, guild is now a Guild Wars 2 startup), we expanded into the multi-game community of players we are today.  Since then we've had several minor guilds (WoW, Eden Eternal, others), and have expanded our player base into SW:TOR.  Current membership is just over 100 active members, with that number growing each week!

Within our community are time-tested leaders, a solid member base, and many other positive mentions the average gamer is looking for.  We consider ourselves "semi-hardcore", which we define as players who may not have a lot of time (due to having families, careers, and other obligations that we put ahead of our gaming lives), but play hard when they are online.  We use Teamspeak for all communication and members are encouraged to log in when they are in-game to enhance their gaming experience and tell some jokes!

Philosophy

Our community is fairly straightforward.  We believe the game is not a job.  While many communities and guilds say that, we exemplify it.  Next we believe members should always put their best foot forward, whether that is in the game or on public forums.  You represent the guild at all times and we act professionally when we do so.  Furthermore, we believe each member is accountable for their own actions.  That means if you don't sign up for raids, you're not guarenteed a spot, or if you cause a wipe, you'll own up to it in a mature way (and also accept other players saying so--it is very difficult to admit mistakes openly!).  We believe that there is no insurmountable challenges and careful dissection of strategies and perfection of execution will always lead us achieve our goals.

We encourage all members to bring forth suggestions for their guilds or the community at large.  Everyone is treated with respect and no one is required to earn the respect of another.  We don't believe in second-class citizens.  Prove yourself on the battlefield and those actions will speak louder than any words.  Bonds are fellowship are important to our long-term memberbase (approximately 70% player retention) as we know that gaming together longer makes us stronger as a whole.

Our Goals

No matter what the challenge, or which guild you play in within the community, the goals are always the same:

  • Play hard when you're logged on!

  • Clear content as soon as the guild can do so

  • Keep open lines of communication with leadership and members

  • Leave your drama at the door

  • Keep guilds between 20-30 people (don't pack house, ever!)

  • More often than not, PvE > PvP for us, but that depends on the game!

Membership

Within IGC, all guilds share the same membership structure.  We utilize the following ranks in all our guilds!

Guild Leader - Oversees all aspects of the guild from recruitment to raiding, but does not handle everything!  Delegation is important to the role of Guild Leader and so it is their primary task to setup a leadership heirarchy.

Officers - Generally comes in two flavors; Recruitment and Raid.  The former takes care of all applications that come in via email, posting for members to vote on.  Recruitment Officers also maintain all external recruitment posts to draw members in.  Direct recruitment is also part of their role.  They work closely with the raid officer to ensure the guild always has appropriate raid setups available.  Raid officers take care of event schedule for their assigned events (there are often multiple raid officers per guild), by announcing and posting weekly raid schedules on our forums and/or raidplanner!  They analyze raid setups and perform member exchanges as necessary.  They also upkeep the DKP as necessary per guild.

Members - Your standard End Game rank.  Members have the ability to vote on new applicants and have their voice heard just as loudly as everyone else.

Trial Members - New recruits attempting to secure Member status in a guild.  They cannot see or vote on new applicants or view their own polls either.  Trial periods usually last 2-4 weeks.  Sometimes these periods are waived in special cases, such as server transfer applicants or during guild mergers (rare case).

Friends & Family - A catchall group used for, you guess it, the friends and/or family members or current Members.  F&F members are not required to raid and are considered the "casual" members in the guild.  They are never asked to participate in raids, but can volunteer at any time.  These members can also apply to be upgraded to Member status if they wish to join those ranks (and then they undergo a vote much like a trial member, but without a true trial period).

Now to business

A number of IGC members have approached me with interest in this game, and they are seeking for guidance and leadership.  As Community Manager, I would normally take it upon myself to play the game and get the guild off the ground, but eventually I would need to hand the reins off the someone else.  I can't play every MMO in the world after all!

As such, I'm looking for someone to come into our community who has a strong interest in The Secret World, and build our new chapter.  You would need to have some history of guild leading (and success therein).  Of course you would not be alone in this endeavor!  Since I've done this twice before, and have over 10 years of MMO guild leading and structuring experience myself, I will be your personal assistant throughout the entire project, even after you find officers for your guild.  After sometime, I'll let the reins go entirely and just watch your progress.  We have had great success in each of our guilds using this format.  As Community Manager I do not lead your guild, that's all your and the officers you pick, but I do peek in from time to time to make sure our philosophy, goals, and standards of recruitment and the like are being enforced.

In short, I'm looking for someone to come into IGC and make something great within The Secret World.  No, there's no pay, and everything is free, from web access, Teamspeak use, and the rest.  We are just a group of players who loves gaming and loves seeing new names and hearing new voices just as much.

If you are interested in this position, contact me immediately at my email above.  I look forward to speaking with you on TS for a short Q & A with me and the other guild leaders (we have to approve you of course!  Don't worry, we don't bite).  Seriously though, we really want to build something amazing in The Secret World and bring in about 30-50 more members before June 2012.  Is this you?  Then what are you waiting for?!
