Do all of the expansions eventually make it to the live servers, or do you need to purchase to play them?
Like the Desert of Flames coming out soon... Wondering if I need to shell out the bucks for it, or if it'll eventually be on the servers for all ....

no you most likely always have to pay. although its technically POSSIBLE, i highly doubt they will ever be free (you still have to pay for the EQ1 expansions, but since theres so many they offer package deals now).

I was going to start a new thread but decided just to post here. I just finished cancelling my pre-order for DoF. Something about EQ2 just isn't right. I can't quite put my finger on it, just call it a gut feeling. Maybe it's this.
$40 For game
$120 for subscribtion
$6 for adventure pack
$6 for adventure pack
$30 for expantion pack and fix the shit we screwed up in the first place
feeling like an idiot for continually paying = PRICELESS
also paying for a station pass but getting adventure packs for free sounds like your actually paying for them anyways. Kind of like the phone company that says if you pay $50 a month you get 1000 free anytime minutes. But I think what I am trying to point out here is a serious trend of gouging out some extra money. Hey, I have an idea SOE, evrytime you do a patch or a server goes down bill me an extra $5 to pay the jackass who screwed up to begin with. I'm tired of hearing about the improvements they are about to implement but oh wait you can't get the improvements unless you buy the expansion. Way to ruin a game that I actually enjoy but am tired of paying for over and over and over and over and over and over and over...continue to infinity. When my subscribtion runs out I'm running out on this game and I will be damn careful the next game I get into. Maybe I should just go back to the old fashioned stand alone games pay once and play till your done not when the money runs out.

Actually playing with a "Normal" account and buying the Adventure Packs alone you save money since they do not come out often enough for the Station Access to be a money saver. The advantige is you can play all SOE games, and you get more charater slots in EQ2.
Yea u are right i dont have to buy the expantion pack but if u want all the shit thats screwed up fixed when it was released u have to buy it and um im already maxed out on all the haritage quest im maxed out on crafting and lvling only thing i cant do is some of the quest that are broke but i can go back and do them after i buy the expantion. i canceled my account b/c all the rules everything changes on a damn near daily baises. Im sick of them saying o we will fix it o u cant go thru the door b/c it is broke??? broke well fix it .
i played eq1 for almost 4 years im really thinking about going back atleast they dont change the whole structure of the game every other month.

You don't have to buy the expansion pack to get the upcoming changes that are part of live update 13. It will be a normal update like all the others, only a lot bigger.
Expansion packs are just that, expansions. If you want more content you can buy them, if you don't you don't have to buy them. SOE has been good about adding content and features as part of the regular subscription. If you think SOE or any company is going to pass out expansions for free you need to get a clue. They simply would just not make the content in the first place because it doesn't make sense from a business stand point.

Dude, why are you even posting here? There is tons of content that you would not care to look at. I have "admited shit" was messed up all over my posts, but I also stated the stuff I didn't like is either allready out or is coming out. Stop coming toward this game with a closed mind. It gets you know where.

i dont mind to pay for an expantion at all but don't make me buy an expantion so i can PvP that should have been in the game from day one since they had the whole good vs evil them on Sonyeq and freeport

In the end; if you play more then 1 on the list of access games, you "save" money. If you want to save even more money, sell your computer.
I've just returned and having a great time. Splitpaw rocks, dunno anything about DOF, but even more content can't do any harm.
WoW man 450k subs thats alot of people and people = Money
so say everyone is paying 15 a month
that is
450k sub at $15 a month = $6750000.0 a month
at $6750000 paying say 500 people that is = $13,500 a month
and then figure the expantion at 30 bucks a pop + monthly subs
that would be like 19 million in one month dont get me wrong but thats alot of money and alot of money they are charging and i know everyone dont get paid the same but u would think the expantions would be free to regular and loyal members thats all
or break it down like this u are rebuying the entire game every 6 months
i like Eq and SOE does add alot of content but look how much they are making off of everyone
Wow, seeing you guys argue in favor of EQ2 has made me rethink about everything I said before. I think I will renew my subscribtion and re-preorder DoF. Thanks for showing me that there are people who still fight for what they believe in. I hope to see you all in the Antonia Bayle server. Including you Tarbos.

Well, one. I was done playing for that evening. And it is my regular routine to check forums and post if I feel the need. Who are you to say that if a game is good you should not do anything else? You can't have too much of a good thing, and there is alot more in life than playing MMO's. Yeah, I do think EQ2 is great, and I will continue playing it for a while... Well, alot of people have quit yes, but alot of people are comming back at the same time. I play on mistmoore where the pop is light, yet there is plenty of people for me to play with. It's all about the time you play as well, because I constantly see Lucan D'lere at Medium, and Antonia Bayle Medium.

So if that is a problem for you, you should have closed the browser, and never came back. I started playing eq2 again wether PvP was coming out or not, though now I plan to dominate it, I would continue playing without it.
"o btw" You can still consentualy pvp without the expansion. The only other PvP (in Maj Dul and the arenas) You'll wanna be 45+ for.
