I may even give DDO a chance and report on my blog if GW2 will not be released soon. I always thought that its missing a Druid and here they are adding it now. Who knows ;)

I'm going to get this expansion, but I kind of wish they didn't go to level 25.

I strongly dislike the new Stone of Experience idea.

Allowing toons to skip straight to level 16, why have levels at all.  Another MMORPG that's forgetting it's MMORPG roots for instant player satisfaction.

I guess I'm just old school and think that 20 should be the hard cap. P&P endgame was about epic threats and strongholds. I would have liked to see an AA that went toward that.

It's not like other MMOs haven't incorperated this feature before like WoW with recruit a friend or how in Rift it is so easy to hit cap that you can lvl to cap in a weekend.  You still need to have a 16 lvl toon and for many they are saving for their 3rd life as many are TRing in prep for the xpac.  In no shape of form are they forgetting their roots and for many it's a relief doing something yet again that they've already done 20 times over.

Sound like forgeting the MMO(RPG) journey and character development for the end of the road.

"Dungeon master I want to start a new character,.  No not at level 1, put Keep on the Borderlands away, level 16."

I'm old school, there is no such thing as skipping levels which caters to the "here and now with little effort crowd" of current gamers.  Heaven forbid effort is put into the game and character before the mad dash to "end game" content.

The reasoning behind the bumpy lvl 16 stone is simple. The Forgotten Realms part is designed for lvl 16+ with the free quests from last update (Lords of Dust, Servants of the Overlord etc) working as "flagging" to travel to Forgotten Realms.

Could it have been done differently? Well, it seems they had to limit the scope of the expansion and focus on the 16-25 part and in that regard NOT having the stone will limit the potential customers considerably.

There were some technical problems with how the stone works (reverting in case of ninja-bumping) but overall it seems fine.

Not a big deal in my opinion. I am surprised the stone is whats being mentioned and discussed in this thread and not the other huge changes. Good or bad, I am still very much looking forward to the expansion.

Very strange argument here unless you play with only you and the GM and no others. If you were in a party of say, lvl 16s in the middle of a campaign and your character suddenly dies... What do you do? Start a lvl 1 character to play along side your lvl 16 buddies? In all games I have played (pen&paper) the customary thing to do is to create a new character at the minimum level range of the module/campaign. Which falls perfectly in line with the concept of the stone.
