Alrighty then, it seems apparent that most adults assume that all kids are idiots and there should be a magical age restricting system in games. Although I agree that some children can be very immature, I am not one of them. Are you shunting me from your elder gaming society simply because you think I am fat, but maybe I have gynecomastia? What if I have a heart problem and I need to take antihypertension drugs?
There is an example of assuming too much (although I have no heart problem). I'd appreciate it if you "oldies" would quit assuming that every child you come in contact with will be immature (not saying that I am very mature). If we are all so immature, why don't you treat us so, instead of swearing at us and pissing on our bodies? You wouldn't tell a baby to shut the hell up if he/she began to cry.

Kid=Hey everyone, I am fourteen years old.
Adult=Hey you horse fucking immature asswipe! I am so mature!
Kid= how do i d0 t3h h4x?

PS: Tell your mom to see the doctor, I think I have gonorrhea. Or perhaps I got that from an animal brothel?

and they arent adults who bash kids. those are kids who are trying to convince people they are adults.

Well now you see why I say I am 21 years old in my profile. That is because I have to avoid people that like to piss on me so I can get around by pretending I am an "adult". It's easier this way. Who is stopping me from faking my information?

just ignore them. thats what ive always done.

also, in all honesty you cant compltely blame people who steryotype against kids. i wouldnt want to play an MMO with most of my friends because i know how they act online. the same goes for a lot of people my age.

something else ive leared, dont go into a game and flat out say "hey im 15." if you do ur begging for someone to make fun of you. if someone asks me how old i am, ill tell them, but that usually doesnt happen. when i told my guild in eq2 i was only 15 they didnt believe me at first.

simply put, dont act like an idiot and in general (but not always) you wont get treated like one.

Some of us retired baby seal bashers have switched over to kids. Don't take it personally, it's just more politically correct and good therapy. I had a fairly new baby seal club also, and I didn't want it to go to waste.

I've never had anyone out right call me an idiot simply because of my age, but I have had people call me an idiot because I was acting like an idiot. Gotta deal with the stereotyping, its the way it is for a pretty truthful reason, only thing you can do is prove you're better than it.

Thats exactly right. We dont go around saying all kids are morons, we go around saying the ones who spam idiocy on public chat are the morons. I have played with many kids (no, not in that way) that were very mature, and were great fun. Although the majority of children on MMOs are obnoxious, there are those of you who are mature enough to hold a conversation, and I appreciate it.

Now not to say there arent older people who cant hold a level of maturity, either. I have met many people who "claim" to be adults, that will sit there and spam stupidity anywhere they can. To them... well you understand... people with an IQ that low have a hard time growing up.

Younger players, I'd say around 11-15 depending on the individual, tend to imitate what they see the majority of players (especially ones they respect) doing in language and actions.

The leet movement came from mistakes that some thought were clever and cool (if I've collected rumours correctly) and it spread throughout the gaming communities. Younger players see things like that for the first time and feel the same way the people who first started using it on purpose felt, they won't be thinking back to how annoying it has been for them because they most likely haven't been exposed to it much. I think the condemnation of leet (I'm using this example only because I can't think of another) and the mocking use of it will be the next big movement in some communities at least.

Most of the more experienced players are somewhat understanding of trends that have become annoying to them, but are new and interesting to the young'uns. I do find that people tend to explode after a certain ammount of annoyance though, perhaps because of the stigma attached to telling off new players. I think that both leet and the flaming of "noobs" has come from another generation of players who have since grown sick of "their" trends being copied.

I have no point that I can see, but I'm hoping there was some wisdom in there ::::05::

Im only 13 and have no shame or worry about what other think. So if a kid basher wants to bash me they can go right ahead. Most of the time that dosnt happen though. Cause I am alot more mature then most my age....
