Here is the final video from Feature Week, about the Dynamic Ecology system. Definately one of the more ambitious planned features, but it sounds like they can handle it and have put a lot of thought and planning into its implementation. Get it here.

Would be great if this actually manages to handle the "kill em all" state of mind of most players.
Actually, a similar system has already been done in Wakfu. It's not nearly as cool as it sounds. It's actually rather irksome. But I don't know what their plans are for this game, I haven't really been following it, and if they're going for a genuine sandbox then they may have more luck with this kind of mechanic. It's not a big deal if a whole species of monster gets wiped out for a while if, for instance, you don't have to worry about quests or the like requiring you kill that monster to progress.

Awsome, no more magically responding wolves
This is pretty cooool.

Just watched the video.
Dynamic ecology, imo is a risky venture. Takes a lot of time and resources to create. Has a high risk of not working as intended. Has the potential to be really negative especially with people who would want to wreck others gameplay ect.
If done right it will be tremendous.
Its also going to be risky getting the time cycles right on rebirth and repopulation as well. Very instersting with the GM's role in this as playing the game like a sim game as far as managing the mob population.
All sounds good in theory however, just hope these guys can keep enough investment to get this game out asap.
And hey...lay off the locking threads for necroing this isnt a highly trafficed forum....
Hopefully the players will have half a brain and manage mob populations themselves. Well, the well run clans will anyway
It will help to get realistic amounts of resources from slain mobs and have realistic weight limits.
