i refer about "Shot online", a golf mmog that easy qualifies as the worst mmog ever, easily surpassing any competition
i hear you saying"why so?"
first the game says it is free: false, it is free for the first useless ten levels only
second: only mmog around, i hope, it does not let you create your avatar, you have to chhose from a very limited range of silly avatars, sa making every player just like others
third: the mechanics of the game are horrible, but worst of all even if you manage to have good shot the character can decide, at random me think, to botch it, so making any of your skills useless
fourth...you still need more?:(
stay away from this shit!
this is shit only

(PGA tour is far more fun )

Dude you couldn't be further from the truth....
The game is free. You have the option to spend money and buy things if you so desire, but there are plenty of players that have been playing for months and have not spent a dime. And are high level too.
There are 5 characters to choose from. I agree this is somewhat limited, but there is a large variety of clothes you can by with the in-game currency you earn from playing golf, so you can customize the look of your character. I hope no one chooses a game based on the flexibility of avatars though...
The mechanics of the game are complicated. This is not Tiger Woods 2005 or Mario Golf. Wind, weather, the lie of your ball, what club you use, and what stats you have all play a big part in where your ball goes. Learning how to consider all these factors is the challenge of this game. If it weren't hard, you would lose interest quickly.
I've been playing for 5 months and still love it. It's a game that takes patience. You won't be good at it for the first month or so, but if you stay with it you will learn to play it better, and will get a lot of satisfaction from making a good shot.
One thing you seem to have not stuck around long enough to learn about is the community itself. Because it requires patience, the community tends to be older and more mature. I've made a lot of wonderful friends in this game, far more than in any other online game I've played.
If you ever decide to try it again, look me up and I will play with you. My name in the game is Volatile. Hope to see you back out there.
lol
I love that game. I've been playing it for 4 months and havent paid anything for it.
Im not a real golf fan but its an awesome idea. Certainly breaks the mmorpg of elves and trolls.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
wrong post, sorry
Personally, I could not disagree with you more.
I Shot Online and the funny thing is that I was never really a big fan of golf. Playing Shot-Online has really gotten me interested in the actual game of golf though. I have played Shot-Online for a month now and plan to continue playing.
For the most part I feel that Volatile already made many good points about the game so there isn't much left to say but I will go ahead and throw in my 2 cents . . . .
The game is FREE. I know this from firsthand experience because I am level 25 and have not paid a dime. You do have that option though . . . which I find cool and may eventually do.
I agree that the avatars are slightly limited but as Volatile pointed out . . . there is a ton of clothing, accessories and modifications to be purchased with in game money that will allow you to customize your character. Not only can you customize your character physically but you are also able to customize your character's skill, power, impact, stamina, etc.
I feel that you probably did not give the game a fair chance. You should have stuck around longer. It takes some time to learn how to properly make a good shot. As with anything that is worth doing in life - patience is of the essence.
Anyhow, I hope that people disregard your post because Shot-Online is not shit. I would like to see our community grow also.
Perhaps if you come back and play you can look me (pinkcrisis) up for a Skins game. LOL, okay I know that wasn't very nice of me but I couldn't help myself!
:: Writes on chalkboard a 100 times . . .
I WILL NOT INVITE NOOBS TO A SKINS GAME I WILL NOT INVITE NOOBS TO A SKINS GAME I WILL NOT INVITE NOOBS TO A SKINS GAME I WILL NOT INVITE NOOBS TO A SKINS GAME . . .
False.
Its shit alright:p

nothing to play for hours a day and moan about bots and farmers and hacks and spawnrates and unbalanced classes , i will give you that. its severly lacking in these very inegral portions of mmo gameplay.
but its cool to have a char to build when you want to go a round or 2 once in awhile.
absolutly nothing wrong with it, its a golf game with a little mmo thrown in.
Well said . . .
You can't knock the game without even trying it. That's ridiculous.
Anyway, to the topic creator, like everyone else has said, you really couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm level 22 and I haven't spent a dime as well. It's totally free, with the option of buying items for cash. I've seen a ton of players who don't pay, and I've seen a good amount of players who do pay.
The community is by far the best community I've yet to see in an MMO, I have yet to run in with a player who was very annoying or trying to piss everyone off. Very mature, and fun to play with.
The game can be a nice casual game, especially being free. The mechanics make it a tough game to play, adjusting for wind, weather, strength, etc... You can play it for months and still make your fair share of mistakes. I like a game that rewards skill, yet still plays like an MMO.
To all of those people who are looking for something different, Shot Online is the game for you. I am a golfer in real life, so that's what mainly got me hooked to the game, but other people in this topic don't like golf, yet they find themselves playing it.
Here is further proof that Shot-Online is free.
Here is the link to the FREE MMOG's and MMORPG's available and guess what?
Shot-Online is on the list, of course.

EXACTLY!!! How can you knock it without trying it first? Oh well for people like you - you don't know what you are missing!
I love the game. Never payed a dime. If you haven't tried it, and want something different, I highly recommend it. My only gripe with the game is that it's hard to figure out the slope of the green when you're putting (or have they fixed this?).
Why would someone bother to right a long rant about a game they obviously can't have played enough to really know anything about? Trully it beggars the imagination.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
I have been playing this game since it first came out in Beta. It is free, and a lot of fun. This coming from someone that thought that golf ruined a good walk in the woods
It is challenging, frustrating, gratifying, and best of all FREE. If you dont want to spend any money.. DONT. They have IN-Game tutors called SO Masters that are there JUST to help you learn the game.
I, myself, have paid for some of the items, and im glad that I did. I spent a lot of time in building my character up, and now have hit 51st lvl. Even at this lvl, the game challanges you on every hole due to weather, wind, the lie of the ball, etc. You have to think out every shot and then have the mouse skills to complete it. Sounds hard? Its not really, just takes a bit of practice - and a few minutes in the driving range to see how far your clubs go.
This game is truly unique in its design, and im glad that I took the time back in december to download it off this website and give it a try. I have met at LEAST 100 people in the game that I play with on a weekly basis and 20 or so that I play with daily, as well as chat on Team Speak and Ventrillo.
(note, voice chat is something Shot Online is thinking about adding to the base program... aint that a hoot?)
SO try it out.. and if you have the chance, find me on the links for a lesson. My name in game is Marna_Shanksalot - and i have been a SO Master for 5 out of the last 6 months. I have no problem helping new and old people with hints and tips on how to play better, or how to build up a good toon.
