Still have yet to see two whole race areas and high level content MIA from BWEs. You can't judge a game purely based on it's low level presentation, remember Age of Conan?
Good things come to those that wait.
Those that don't wait get shitty half finished games with shoddy character creation and low production values.
A lot of the things they seem to be focusing on currently is sever strength and class balance.
Since we have seen only maybe 20% of the game in open beta, there may still be a lot to do that we don't know about. I've paid and I just want them to release a quality game. I think they are close.....just have a little patience.
Okay i fully agree with this post but then either push the game back and give players a notice or stop telling diffrent retail stores diffrent dates frys had posters made up for 28th of june, game stop had whole media push for the 26th and steam had release dates posted as well ///plus I can't be 100percent on this one but I am pretty sure gw2 site had the 26th up there for a while....
I guess think of it like this we are customers of arena.net and we all want to play this game now if arena net can't fiquere out when they thin the game might be relaese ...were not launching men to mars there putting out a video game for god sake keep your customers informed and updated instead of the fu statement will be rdy when its rdy ...Guess that what makes me so mad like were suppose to bow down to the gods for a little bit of info to plan when the game might come out....
sorry this has turned into a rant.........just gets me pissed

The retail store dates don't come from Arenanet, the stores themselves make guesses and put them up as placeholders to encourage sales.
ANet has no control over the retail stores and has never told them dates. Thay have said many times these dates are not true. They are retail "placeholders". There has never been a "date" on the official GW2 website.
I couldnt find the gw2 forum , I am new to mmorpg as a poster sorry if the thread in the wrong place!

As much as I want this game out ASAP, I much rather wait to have a solid game I can enjoy of the bat and for a long time after. I'm sick and tired of playing these MMOs for 1-3 months and being completely bored or annoyed with them. All MMOs have bugs, but the amount of bugs and annoyances at launch will greatly impact the longevity of the game. I'm actually glad ArenaNet is taking their sweet time.
If you had ever run a business and if you haven't thats okay but its bs that retail stores don't get there info from arena.net .....you as a retail store wont spend millions on advertising if the info is false you end up pissing away money and have to spend more money on advertising and also risk the fact that customer will be mad at you leave anyway ....the cost to sales margin wouldnt be profitable for longer which is no good for retail companies.....Trust me they got the info from arena.net just like all other games get the info from the companies putting out the games ........there 99percent right on all other release dates but this one hmmmm we wernt born yesterday this was arena net screwing the customer you and retail stores beause first pre-order that you had to pay full price for the ce edtion ive seen which makes arena net more money..So they can pay there dev more money or report better stock earnings.
please dont belv that arena net didnt give this info out because they did....there were no secret leaks or conspiracys. Best buy calls up arena net sales contact for that store the sales contact say we expect a 26th launch end of story ...

Although most of your questions should've been answered already
ArenaNet never revealed a release date, it's all either speculation or a placeholder date by the retailers.

Can I move a whole thread or do i have to start a new one?
If they prolongue the release alot ( im talking about december date ) , they will loose customers imo with all of the decent ftp titles comin out. I surely do want a finished product but they were hinting a june release ...and now they are hinting august / september release .
New one. But you won't find better answers, the reasons why the game hasn't been released yet has been stated earlier in this thread. To repeat it once more: There is no release date by ArenaNet, those dates are simple speculation or just a placeholder date by the retailers.

Regardless of whether ANet gave them the info or not, none of these stores are spending millions. None of the stores I know of have ads or anything for GW2. The most they have is some info on a possible release date. If you consider the info on websites such as gamestop.com to be advertising, it takes a minute at most to put the date on their site.
When you said GameStop or whatever called up ArenaNet and ArenaNet gave them a date, is that conjecture or is there actual evidence? I will assume that it is conjecture since you did not indicate otherwise.
Secondly, with the "millions spent on advertising", Game retailers are not spending much money advertising the games they carry. Did I see any steam advertisements about GW2? Nope. They don't exist. Only game publishers advertise their games. Even the posters and graphics these retailers carry are supplied by the game publishers. All they did is ask someone to put in a rumored release date, which probably took less than 10 minutes and cost them next to nothing. They may have believed it was true, but my opinion is that they didn't bother checking with ArenaNet or if they did, they didn't care if it wasn't the right date.
Why, you might say, should they do this? Because as someone already pointed earlier, it boosts sales. People who are not avidly following the press on games (most casual gamers) see that it is going to release, and go "Sweet! I will buy it now since I will have the game in a week!". I know this happens to players since I refuse to buy Torchlight II without a release date, even if I know it will be a good game.
That person shouldn't have called you stupid or low IQ, but you also should not assume everything you say is true.
Edited for typos.
When a retail store has a product to sell but they have no release date on the item, they insert a "placeholder" into their computer system and assign a date so they can make that sale. ( I.E. Gamespots original placeholder was 6/28/2012. They have now changed it to 12/31/2012.) They have done this without any official date from ANet.
You are incorrect, and yes retailers do spend millions on wasted advertising campaigns. Several people have told you this already.
I am re-iterating this for you now.
If you continue to ignore what people tell you, they will stop listening to you and may even start being rude.
I don't even really care about that as a whole my focus is lets get some info to the ppl that are going to be playing your game!
Fine you couldnt do 26th of june great but then how about a reason why and possible next date its called "good public relations...thats my biggest beef
2nd please don't state that arena net didnt tell it would be release on the 26th if they didnt tell the public then they told someone retail companies multiple one not just ones dont come up with fantasy dates makes no rationale business sense!
Moving the thread to GW2.

First: The reason there is no official release date is because ArenaNet themselves do not know when the game will be released. This means there are many areas in the game that still needs development, and they do not want to set a deadline on this. Right now if they set a release date, two things will happen. 1) release date set too soon. Game needs for fixes than time allows, release game in a less than optimal state. That means bad public relations. 2) release date set too far. Game is ready way before their set release time (typically doesn't happen). So they will change the release date anyways. This also means bad public relations. It is the best to release the game when they know it will be ready, to have it as soon as possible to the players in a good state.
Second: you are again working under this conjecture that ArenaNet told all the game retailers a release date. All evidence I have seen is to the contrary when ArenaNet specifically pointed GameStop or whatever and said they did not give them that date. Do you have any evidence for this? It makes no sense to you because you cannot get away from this assinine assumption.
They've never hinted any date so far, everything has been either from third party (retailers) or forum speculation. The only dates they've said are "definitively 2012" and "when it's ready" and they've held to both of those long before the pre-purchase began, and they've said both on their FAQs, and almost weekly on twitter and facebook, that there's no firm date other than "2012" yet, that they've never told anyone about any date, and any date anyone says that doesn't come directly from them is just pure speculation.
What can men do against such reckless hate?
Eve - WoW - Tera is comming out of my ears.
But i rather wait another year to get a great game then a half developt fail project.
And knowing Anet, they wait and develop it till they think its ready to go.
Must be a wonderfull feeling to not have those suits yelling it needs to be released yesterday
I watched a youtube cast from inside their studio and damn it would be heaven on paradise to work in such awesome studio.
Give them time to produce a king of the hill MMO that makes Blizzard weep for the next 10 years.
