I never even realised TERA had a shop like this, and TSW is taking all the flack for a sub and shop set up as well haha.
That mount looks awesome, but it will look less awesome if everyone is riding around on it, looks like something that should come from some sort of long drawn out or difficult achievement.
This only shows how desperate is EME to make fast cash before their customers start to flock away from their servers.
Rift mounts only cost $10 plus came with other stuff as well.. seems really steep imho

Bob: "Hey Bill, I finished that Night Mare Mount you had me create this afternoon. Only took a couple hours. Are we going to include this in the beta or just add it to the original release files?"
Bill: "Nether, we are going to get all the box sale and then, less than 2 months later, release the horse and charge $25 for it!!"
Bob: "Genious, pure genious! What about the super cool mini-pet you assigned me? Same deal?"
Bill: "Yup. Ca-ching!! Muahahaha..."
If at first you don't succeed make a cash shop and sell fancy skins with no impact to the game for half the price of the game. Unfortunately I don't think Bill is a genius but I know the buyers are definitely not.
i really need to ask, why are we ok with buying a mount for 24$, when we already got the game for 50$ and we pay a sub for 15$ a month ?
and please don't tell me you don't have to buy it, i think when i pay them every month and did buy a box i should get all that the game has to offer.
anyone agree with me on this ?

They should atleast make it possible to get in game. It's like a kick in the face to buyers, "Here is a really cool mount which is faster then all the others. How do you get it simple just pay $24 on top of the $50 for the game and the $30 for the two months you been playing. You know what? lets just get even more out of you guys by now making every patch add on dungeon in cash shop too! SO if you every want too win in the game you're going to need that too. Don't worry it's only $30 each what a deal."
The $50 was just to enter the world and $15 to stay. Want more you got to pay more is how they see it.
Seals the deal that I'm never playing this PoS.
Its called marketing. a sound business principle centuries old. a good business will try to make as much money as possible, while keeping quality as high as possible to keep customers and gain new customers in hopes of making even more money. they will test the market with new products in hopes of gaining new revenue sources. we as the consumer need to make good buying decisions based on our wants and needs and what we can afford.
All MMO devs are doing this, and if they arent already, they soon will be.
There its also something called rational thinking, and NO way i will participate and/or support such selling tactics. Dont care if its becoming a trend, but its our responsibility as customers also to dont buy all the BS they throw at our screen.
Bought TERA, enjoyed free month and will wait until goes F2P; its a game ffs, i wouldnt even consider paying another 24€ + sub just to ride a flaming horze. are we nutz alrrdy?
You don't have to buy it though and that is the point, this cash shop just sells cosmetic items.
When WoW brought in the cash shop my reaction was " oh man that mount looks awesome " I considered buying it, but within an hour of it going on sale everyone was riding around on one, suddenly it didnt look so cool.
I have never been tempted to buy anything from the shop in WoW, I have seen plenty of things in it that look pretty cool but it has not degraded my gameplay experience at all so I really don't see what the fuss is with cash shops that sell cosmetic items.
If people didn't buy the stuff the companies would not offer a cash shop, the demand must be there otherwise it is not good business to have the shop so it must be making a profit. Your grievance should be with the players that are constantly buying stuff from it not with the company for providing it.
But again, if some guy wants to spend $25 on a horse, what does that have to do with you? who cares what that guy spends his money on.
I guess everyone fails to realize they are slowly integrating all of KTERAs cash shop items into this game in various ways...
Dragon skins for purchase before specific date, pirate hat/glasses/eyepatch for a facebook community event thing, mount/weapon skins for $$$$.
It's not like they are developing this stuff to make some quick money, it already exists and is all payed for in Korea. Yet i didn't pay anything extra for my glasses, pirate hat, dragon weapon skins and eyepatch.
Well, if you are being honest with yourself, you never were going to anyways, so the mock outrage really isn't necessary.
Of course they were going to use the cash shop to make money, they knew TERA would follow the standard theme park trend of launching with strong box sales/subs, only to quickly taper down to a core player base that they can make a profit from.
I doubt any major title today isn't launching with a F2P/cash shop back up revenue plan for the inevitable slide in subs that happens to almost every MMORPG out there outside of WOW/EVE.
It would be foolish not to.

another aion scam .... sad ,but hey they need tot ake the money from some 1 right?
WOW
Just wow...
25 dollars for a mount? I could buy 2 amazing games from steam for that price. A whole set of costumes/riot points on league of legends etc etc...
Are they serious? It really looks like they're just trying to grab as much money as they can before the game sinks entirely.
So now you can buy a faster mount, which is clearly an advantage (pay to win....)
I remember when Dark ages of Camelot released mounts. 1)It was in a free expansion 2) There were10 different types of mounts, with varying swappable armour and colourings. 3) The sexy mounts were expensive, (you know, flaming hooves etc) but expensive in terms of game money. But anyone could own one with enough time put in.
With Tera it's - you can only have a different mount if you pay alot of money for it. Otherwise FU, you can stay with the one standard mount, we don't care how much time you put into our game.
I can't believe people are defending this travesty of a game.
I agree. I understand offering server changes, race changes, and gender changes.
However, I don't understand how someone can pay $10-$15 a month and then have content withheld from them in a cash shop.
Being a capitalist, I believe that the company has every right to sell whatever they want to people who have money to burn.
However, as a consumer, I would not purchase a game with content like this on top of a subscription fee.

Laughing at someone buying a mount, and then going on to say the money would be better spent on skins for LoL characters. What a joker you are. Both are virtual items, you prefer LoL someone else prefers TERA, big deal.
The diffrence is LoL makes its money through cash shop skins ect. TERA has a monthly subscription. I dont remember LoL charging $50 or $60 bucks for the box, charging $15 a month to play, and then charging for player skins.
I hope you see the diffrence now, if not you are exactly the type of person En Masse, Blizzard, Funcom ect want playing thier games.
Well done on failing to understand the point of what I wrote or how the comparison of like for like appearance items regarding value for money/amount of things purchasable.
WHAT that part of my statement implied was that if you did want to fritter away real cash on clothing/vanity items, then in LoL you get more bang for your buck, and LoL doesn't even have a sub charge.
I generally know when i've made a pertinent/valid point when the person fails to adress any of the points i make or simply has no understanding of the situation.
$24.99 for a mount seriously?
I bought the game, played the first month and was looking forward resubbmg.
Now while the combat is great, regarding the cash shop it's becoming I won't spend any more $ in that game.
Since "We" as a community agreed it was fine for Blizzard to do it, sadly.
What makes it even more funny is how everything they sell is only sold for limited time only. That's a smart little trick that instantly bumps the value of an item and makes people buy it even if they don't really feel they want to. After all it's limited. Never to be seen again. Exclusive almost. If you like it's loooks bette rbuy it now because next month it won't be there anymore. Cunning and if they can introduce new "limited" items every month or two they can make more money.
MMorpg's are a scam! anyone who hasn't realised this by now needs to re-evaluate their intelligence. You pay a monthly fee for the future development of an mmo, then they expect you to pay more money for what they have developed even though you are already paying for it every month?..scam.
